The Deatherage Family Sam Sr., Sam Jr., Anna, Marayia, David, Ethan, Abiegayle, Trish, and Timothy NEW VAN The Church van was donated. Thank You! PAGE 2 THE WITNESS VOLUME 18 NUMBER 10 From Pastor Glenn… God continues to move and reveal Himself to us. What an exciting time to be a part of the true church of Christ. Many people never get to experience the true movement of the Spirit of God. Our church has been blessed with the favor of the Lord and we need never to take that for granted. There are several things you can do when you are confronted with the Holy Spirit. First you can resist: Acts 7:48-53 vs 51 "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit! This will lead to the Spirit being unable to truly work in your life or in our church as He desires.” Secondly you can grieve the Spirit: Ephesians 4:29-32 vs 30 “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. It makes the spirit grieve when we choose to tear each other down and use the power of our words to harm others.” Thirdly we can quench the Spirit: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22 vs 19 “Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.” But the most important thing we can do is yield to the Spirit. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 8:14 "Likewise the Spirit also helps us in our weaknesses." Romans 8:26 (NIV) "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man." Ephesians 3:16 “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 (NIV) May God Bless us as we yield to His Spirit Pastor Glenn MUGS e Night m a G d n a ip h s Fellow g of fellowship in n ve e is th d y Come atten not need to pla n o d u o (y s e m a and g d evening is o le il -f n fu t x e n ase games). We parayed for Missionaries that were having birthdays on August 28th from the Mission Mosaic magazine. Jerry Strebig presented the program on the leading of the Holy Spirit and had many insightful questions to ask ourselves as to where we are spiritually, and if we are listening to the Holy Spirit’s direction. We discussed the International Dinner that will be on Wednesday, October 15th at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner will be wonderful taste from the Ivory Coast. Tickets will be available at a later date. WOM continue to do Random Acts of Kindness and on September 9th we will honor the Westcliffe School facility with snacks and words of appreciation. We received a thank you card from Rosemary Young for a Westcliffe afghan that we gave her as a going away gift. Rosemary has summered in our Valley for 24 years and has been an integral part of our Church and WOM. Blessings and Love to you Rosemary. Daylight Savings November 2nd Remember to set your clocks back Heart to Heart Women’s Ministry “God made every intricate part of our beings, like a master weaver that takes the finest silk threads and makes a priceless garment with precision, excellence, and exquisitely great taste. The recipient of the garment has the ability to accept this unique treasure with dignity. Yes, that’s who you are. You are a creation of God, made with His character, crafted with His DNA, and loved unconditionally by Him. God never makes junk.” Written by Thelma Wells You are fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator. This past weekend many of the women from our church and the community learned about God’s vision for us. It was a weekend filled with laughter, worship, fellowship, and a closer walk with our Creator. Check with those ladies running around with big smiles on their faces – they have a story or two that they could share about their time with their sisters in Christ. But, there is also a part of God’s plan for Him to reveal Himself to you in our new Bible study by Chip Ingram. “God: As He Longs for You to See Him.” Come join us on Wednesday evenings to see God as He reveals Himself to you through His Word and your Christian sisters. See you there! Mugs and Muffins: Both of the groups are meeting on Thursday mornings now. One meets at 9:00 am and the other at 9:30 am. Join one of the groups to pray for each other, our community, state, nation, and our church. VALI Crafts: contact Terry Lee to join in on the fun! She could use your help and you could be blessed.
