Vermont Catholic Charities
Bishop’s Fund Announcement:
We are in the process of wrapping up our parishes’
efforts for the 2007 Bishop’s Fund Campaign. Please
send in your pledge card if you have not yet done so,
so that we can finish up and reach 100% participation
for our parishes. Holy Rosary stands at 91% with
gifts totaling $20329.99 collected towards a goal of
$22400. IHM stands at 90% with gifts totaling
$38650.70 towards a goal of $43000. Envelopes with
forms for this purpose are in the Gathering Area at
IHM and in the Parish Hall at Holy Rosary.
Teens for Life Summit: A first-of-its-kind event for
Vermont will be sponsored by the VRLC Educational
Trust Fund in an effort to counteract the damaging
messages our teens are bombarded with by the media,
popular music, movies, and especially Planned
Parenthood – in schools and on college campuses.
This one-day event for high school students will be
held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in South
Burlington. Through activities, presentations and
contests, teens will learn more about how abortion
hurts, not only babies, but also their mothers; why
abstinence is so important; and what teens can do to
make a pro-life difference! Deadline for registration
is September 28. Contact VRLC at 229-4885,
[email protected].

supervisor of our cemeteries at the end of this season.
We are most grateful for his many hours of dedicated
service over the last 31 years.
Anyone interested in finding out what this job, as
supervisor of Holy Rosary and St. Mary’s Cemetery,
involves should call George at 434-6008.
IMPORTANT CEMETERY NEWS: Dumping of
any materials along the banks and anywhere else in
our parish cemeteries is not permitted. This includes
leaves, lawn clippings, garden waste, tree branches,

RECONCILIATION
True reconciliation is emotional, dramatic, and
cleansing. When two people meet heart to heart and
work through old hurts, misunderstandings, and
careless words, cleansing tears often flow and the
encounter ends with an embrace that fills both with
the warmth of a love too strong to fade.
The readings this weekend assure us of this
healthy release that comes with reconciliation. They
give us the courage to reach out to someone with
whom we need to reconcile ourselves, and give us the
courage to ask for forgiveness from God, too.
In the reading from Exodus, we see how God
refuses again and again to give up on the Israelites.
Even though they grow impatient with God and turn
to false idols, God still calls them back. Luke’s
Gospel assures us that God rejoices when we turn
away from sin. Paul’s letter to Timothy encourages
us, like Paul, to look back on our lives and recognize
where God’s patient mercy has been shown to us.
