SLOVENIAN SOCIETY FOR TRIBOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
The use of polymer materials in tribological contacts
has increased rapidly in the past few decades, especially due to the relatively low manufacturing costs, good
tribological properties, low weight, etc. The demand for
the polymer-based tribological contacts is evermore
increasing, and this trend appears to hold in the future
as well. There are several aspects of polymer properties, production, design and use that could be further
improved and tailored to achieve better friction and
wear performance, which is the goal of this conference.
The first PolyTrib conference tends to bring together
participants in the whole exploitation chain, from the
research and manufacturing to the sales sectors.

VENUE
PolyTrib 2014 will be held on the 11th and 12th of
September at the Hotel Astoria conference centre in
Bled, Slovenia. Bled is the widely-known Alpine tourist
resort in Slovenia, conveniently located only 25 minutes
from the Ljubljana airport and less than an hour from
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. More information

WORKSHOP ON POLYMER GEARS
In addition to all aspects related to polymers and their
tribological applications, a special focus will be placed
to polymer gears. The PolyTrib conference aims to
summarize the state of the art research activities in this
field and compare them with specific needs and
demands in the industrial and other sectors. The topics
raised by the industrial partners will be discussed in
additional workshop panel and other simultaneous
events enabling the specialists from various fields to
exchange their experience and knowledge. Discussions
and presentations related to the polymer gear testing,
design, manufacturing (tooling, injection moulding…),
materials, standards and tribology required for gear
application, are welcomed.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Participants are welcome to present their work in the
form of an oral presentation or a poster. Title of the
presentation or poster together with a 200 words
abstract should be sent to [email protected] by
the 20th of June, 2014. Please indicate whether the submitted work is proposed for poster or oral presentation and
whether the full paper or the abstract only will be
available by the 20th of August, 2014. The authors will be
informed about the acceptance of their work by the 1st of
July, 2014.
