COME TO THE FEAST
“On this mountain, the Lord of hosts will provide for all peoples a
feast of rich food and choice wines” (Isaiah 25:6). That’s what Isaiah tells
us today. God is putting together a huge party for “all peoples,” to “wipe
away the tears from every face” (Isaiah 25:8).
And what does Jesus tell us? The reign of God, he says, “may be
likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son” (Matthew 22:2).
When the guests didn’t come, the king had his servants go out “into the
main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find” (Matthew 22:9).
We are called to deliver that invitation.
One of the themes woven into today’s liturgy is that of divine generosity. Asleep to reality, people often think they have “earned” what they
have. In our better moments, though, we know that all our gifts—even the
spiritual gifts—come through God’s generosity. Our vocation is to invite
people, to remind them the tickets aren’t for sale. We can only show up
and say thank you.
The Vocation Chalice is entrusted to

TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
AROUND OUR PARISH
Susan Castille Bible Study - Psalm 23
St. Jules Church is happy to host the "Susan Castille Bible Study" this fall. One of the
most beloved and familiar chapters of the Bible is Psalm 23, which begins "The Lord is
my shepherd...." The words are so familiar we sometimes tend to recite them without
truly considering them, but there is so much meaning and reassurance for us as Christians in this beautiful prayer. It's a message of both comfort and challenge. Please
join us for a six week in depth study on Psalm 23. Presented by: Susan Castille Dates: October 16 to November 20, 2014 Time & Place: Thursdays from 9:30
- 11:30 AM in the St. Jules church hall Registration: Call Rosie at 981-1455 by
October 14th $15.00 donation appreciated. No previous Bible Study experience
required.
Interested in becoming a Catholic? Are you an adult seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist? Email me [email protected] The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) commences

Adult Education Room located inside St Jules Church Hall. - Deacon Reggie
Please Sponsor One of our Orphans !!! Fr Mike of Sarnelli Orphanage
emailed this week a message of urgency. 18 new children need sponsors.
Also, we have 10 children who were formerly sponsored by St Jules Parishioner Big Mike Mouton who passed away earlier this year. A suggested donation is $40/month to help a child with clothes, food, books, education. Email
me [email protected] and I will forward the form, or call me, 257-8699, and I
will postal mail it to you.
A big thank you to the Angels of Service, KC members and so many faithful
friends and parishioners that have been working since July to prepare for last
Saturday’s very successful garage sale. But most important of all, we could
not have done it without all the generous donations of things given to us for
our sale. Everything that was left over from the sale was donated to Hospice
of Acadiana for their November garage sale. Funds raised will continue to
provide the monthly birthday parties at Lady of the Oaks Nursing home and
the bereavement ministry for St. Jules.
Bishop DuBourg Assembly #315 will be having their annual Pork Jambalaya Lunch for $7, Sunday 10/19/14. Pick up time 10:30 to 12:30 pm at
