Our Turkey Trot is November 7th. We will be sending tickets out to those who don’t come to the Lodge too often or if the member is out of town. I looked at the membership list today and we still have 53 people that have not paid the 2014/2015 dues; so please do so. If you have decided that you no longer want to be a member; please call our Secretary on the office phone (401-737-2196) and leave her a message. We are having our Members’ Christmas party on December 20th starting at 3:00 pm in the lounge area. I am the State Drug Awareness Chairman and need your support. The Drug Awareness Program (DAP) team is having a 5K Walk in Buttonwoods City Park on October 19th. starting at 9:00 am to raise funds towards a Lecturer to visit some of our schools and funds to update the Drug Awareness trailer. I hope you will support this team by either walking the day of the event, sponsoring another who will be walking, or by giving a donation. There are flyers and sponsor forms in the lounge, just ask the bartender for the information. Checks can be made to RISE/DAP and mailed to the Lodge if you want to make a donation. I would like everyone to know it is Scholarship time. You can get all the information on line if you visit www.Elks.org/enf/scholarship for your children, grandchildren or whoever that a particular scholarship is directed to. At the last meeting we voted to let the Grand Lodge appoint the Grand Tiler and to let a Texas Lodge become part of a New Mexico District because of logistics. To have a say in your Lodge for such matters, you have to come to the monthly meetings to vote. All the things we do are brought up on the floor for our members to vote on or discuss. We are having a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 18th. Deb Petisce suggested a Mad Hatter party. Get a crazy hat or dress up if you would like. This is a dinner/dance with a band and Chicken & Ribs for dinner. The cost is $20.00. Tickets will be available soon at the bar.
