ALLEGAN HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS October 21, 2014 Erin Isola and Brianna Price placed first and second at the Harper Creek Invitational last Saturday. Erin set a new varsity record and both girls qualified for the All America Award in Diving. The Swimming and Diving Team take on Marshall in another tough conference matchup tonight in Marshall. This is a reminder for the boys’ tennis team. Your banquet is tonight at 6:30 in the conference center. Bring a dish to pass and your place settings. If you haven’t turned in your uniform please bring it to the banquet. Attention: All boys’ and girls’ varsity JV tennis players –Annual Christ Community Trunk N’ Treat Community Service – When: Wednesday, October 29th from 5:30-8:00 P.M. Where: CCC 3370 113th Avenue, Allegan. The tennis teams will be running the games inside the church. This is a great event for the community (over 1,000 kids and parents attend) and for our tennis program. Community Service forms will be provided. Please wear something that says Allegan Tennis. Please contact Coach Fales if you can help with this awesome event. Sign up is now underway for this year’s championship wrestling team. The Tigers are ranked 3rd in the State pre-season in Division 3. If you think you have what it takes, sign up with Coach Rose in the PE office. Bittersweet Ski/Snowboard – join the Allegan Independent Ski Club for 20142015 ski season. The club card is $15.00 for both student and adult. This card gets you discounted ski lift and rental rates. Please make checks payable to Bittersweet Ski Resort. You may pick up your application forms from the main office or go to Alleganps.org web page parent links. The APS Fieldhouse, behind the middle school, is now open to the community for walkers, joggers, during the following hours: 6:00-7:30 A.M. and 5:30-7:30 P.M. (Monday-Friday). Students can purchase student tickets PRIOR to any athletic event for just $1.00. Students need to purchase these tickets before school, during lunch, or after school until 4 P.M. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AFTER 4 P.M. The Allegan Band Booster will be sponsoring the Tailgate for the last home football game on Friday, October 24, 2014. We will be serving sloppy joes, cheesy potatoes, pasta salad, cookie and a drink for $5.00. There is now a crossing guard for high school by Speedway from 6:45-7:45 A.M., 11:15-12:15 P.M. and 2:30-3:30 P.M. Students- check out the new breast cancer shirts in the Krate. Monday, October 27th there will be a French Club event after school open to anyone who is taking or will take French this year. There will be games, prizes, food, and a movie. The Spanish Club is hosting a Scavenger Hunt on October 23rd at 3:15 after school. Prizes will be given out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. This counts as one activity with the Spanish Club. You need to attend 2 activities and sell 15 jars of salsa in order to attend the Spanish field trip. Are you ready to have some awesome Spanish Club activities! Please bring in your unused cell phones to the media center. Collection is on-going, so bring them in anytime. Attention students who plan on visiting a college during this school year. There are College Visitation Forms in the Attendance Office that need to be taken with you on your visit. The form needs to be signed by a college official. Once the form is signed and turned back into the Attendance Office your attendance code will be changed to PSO. You are allowed 2 PSO absences per YEAR, not per TRI, and these are not counted as absences. Please see Mr. Orr or Mrs. Lange if you have any questions. Attention students: If you have a vacation or time that you need to take off and you will be absent for 3 or more days, you need to pick up a Prearranged Absence Form in the Attendance Office. This form has to be signed by your parent/guardian and initialed by all your teachers. Once the form has been filled out you can return it to the Attendance Office. This form helps not only your teachers to know that you will be gone, but the Attendance Office. CRAVE21 is a challenge to give up a “crave” or eliminate a habit for 21 days, replacing it with something positive or healthy. For a reduced prize of $5, you can join the challenge, get an awesome t-shirt, enter a drawing to win cool prizes, and get support to learn how to handle cravings! Interested? The workshops will be Tuesday’s after school 2:30-4:00 P.M. October 21st through December 2nd. You will develop your own product or service and create a simple business plan. We will purchase the materials needed to make the product or provide the service up to $150. We provide a marketplace for you to sell your product or service and you keep your earnings.
