Hannele tulee hoitamaan EPC:n tehtäviä Suomi-Kodilla. Hei kaikki Koti-Postin lukijat, minä olen Hannele Cleroux ja tässä on vähän taustatietoa minusta: synnyin, kasvoin ja kävin kouluni Suomessa, Jyväskylässä. Työskentelin nuorempana muutaman vuoden vanhusten kotihoitajana, sekä sairaalassa vanhusten osastolla. Sitten päätin lähteä seikkailemaan kauas kotoa Intiaan, kun tunsin tarpeen jollain tavalla auttaa ihmiskuntaa. Intiassa olin opettajana ja sitä kautta tapasin kanadalaisen mieheni joka myös opetti samassa koulussa. Meille syntyi kaksi ensimmäistä lasta siellä ja kun odotin kolmatta lastamme päätimme muuttaa Ruotsiin. Siellä minä hoidin kasvavaa perhettäni kotiäitinä ja mieheni oli englannin opettaja. Viidennen lapsemme syntymän jälkeen tulimme viimeinkin Kanadaan ja siitä onkin jo 20 vuotta. Kun saavuimme Toronnon lentokentälle ison perheemme kanssa ensimmäistä kertaa, minulle Kanadaan tulo oli ihan rakkautta ensisilmäyksellä, ihanat värikkäät syksyn metsät, ystävällisiä ihmisiä jokapuolelta maailmaa, tunsin olon kotoisaksi alusta alkaen. Täällä meille syntyi 3 lasta lisää ja päiväni olivat tosi täynnä lasten hoitoa, kotikoulua ja kaikenlaista hauskaa, lapsiin liittyvää puuhaa. Kun omat lapseni kasvoivat isommiksi menimme takaisin Intiaan, tällä kertaa järjestämään erityistilaisuuksia ja retkiä 300-400 lastenkodin lapselle. Olimme Intiassa 4 vuotta, samalla apuna vanhemmalle tyttärelleni joka aloitti omaa perhettään intialaisen miehensä kanssa. Palattuamme takaisin Kanadaan, opetin päiväkodissa. Kaksi vuotta myöhemmin, haettuani paikkaa Suomi-Kodista, sain Juhalta puhelinsoiton, että minun apuani täällä nyt tarvittaisiin ja että voisin aloittaa EPCn työt täällä, ystävällisessä, kotoisassa, mutta hyvin aktiivisessa SuomiKodissa. Olen ollut täällä nyt noin kuukauden verran ja joka päivä on ollut toistaan mukavampi. Hannele Hello, all the Koti-Posti readers, here is a little about my background: I am Hannele Cleroux, I was born, grew up and went to school in Jyväskylä, Finland. I was interested in working with the elderly when I was young and worked at homecare and also in a hospital care unit for the elderly. Then I left for an adventure to India as I felt the calling to be a blessing to needy people in some way. I worked there as a teacher and met my Canadian husband who was teaching at the same school. Our first two children were born there and when I was expecting our third child we decided to move to Sweden. There I cared for my growing family and my husband was teaching English. After the birth of our fifth child we finally came to Canada. That was already 20 years ago. When we landed at the Toronto airport for the first time I fell in love with Canada at the first sight: beautiful colors of fall, friendly people from all over the world, I felt at home right away. We had three more children and my days were filled with caring for the children, home schooling, and all kind of child related fun. From there we decided to go back to India where we worked with orphanages, organizing special events and outings for 300-400 orphans at time. We were in India for 4 years, at the same time helping my eldest daughter, who by then was starting her own family with her Indian husband. After returning to Canada I worked at a daycare center. I had applied for work at Suomi-Koti and two years later I got a call from Juha, who told me that my help here was needed. I started working as a EPC co-ordinator about a month ago in this friendly, homelike, but very active place and every day has just gotten better. Present: 55 Chair: Juha Mynttinen 1. Juha welcomed everyone to the October Tenants’ Meeting. 2. Juha mentioned to everyone’s knowledge, that the nursing home does not use the washing machines in B1, if anyone has seen PSW doing laundry, it is the tenants laundry done by the ”assisted livng”. 3. Juha went over the results of the survey: First he thanked everybody, and said that the participation was very good, and that everyone answering the survey would recommend Suomi-Koti to others. He mentioned, that many people do not seem to know the process of applying for a place in the nursing home and that there will be information sessions held , floor by floor, where this will be discussed. It seems to be unclear, who the boardmembers are and what their role is in the function of the Suomi-Koti , this will be explained in the near future. The role of the EPC was another issue that was unclear to a lot of people, who answered the survey. Hannele explained that later in the meeting.. 4. Another announcement was that the donation page in the Koti-Posti will have all the donors’ names, but no more individual amounts of the donations, only the total amount for each category. 5. Juha let everyone know that the Nursing Home 20–year celebration and fundraising dinner will be on Friday the 26th October and the the transportation list as well as the tickets are available in the office. 6. Hannele Explained that EPC (Elderly Persons Care) taken care by Sirpa and her, includes organizing Brithday Parties and other events, making sure fitness programs and other activities are running smoothly and that there are sufficient spiritual programs available for everyone. The production of our montly publication Koti-Posti and yearly magazine Iltatuulen Viesti is done by EPC. If you want more information about EPC, you can inquire in the office and we are glad to help. We welcome any suggestions and ideas for the EPC. 7. Juha mentioned that the EPC gets some funding from the Ministry of Health and from the Local Government, but it is not enough to cover everything, so we do need to do fundraising as well. 8. Hannele explained about the different events for the next few weeks. 9. Sirpa introduced all the new tenants to everyone. Their pictures are posted in this KotiPosti. 10. Juha mentioned that there is a possibility that the new Finnish Consul General Charles Murto might pay Suomi-Koti a visit on the November 5th, if so we will let everyone know. 11. Juha toivotti kaikki asukkaat tervetulleiksi lokakuun asukkaiden kokoukseen. 2. Juha ilmoitti kaikkien tietoon, että 7. kerroksen hoivaosaston henkilökunta ei käytä B1:sen pesukoneita. Jos siellä on hoitohenkilökuntaa pesemässä pyykkiä, he ovat 1-6 kerroksien kotipalvelusta. 3. Juha kävi läpi survey-kyselyn tuloksia: Hän kiitti kaikkia osannottajia ja mainitsi että osaanottajia oli oikein hyvä määrä. Kaikki kyselyyn vastaajat sanoivat voivansa suositella Suomi-Kotia muille. Monet vastaajista eivät tuntuneet ymmärtävän prosessia, jolla haetaan paikkaa hoivaosastolle, tästä tullaan järjestämään tiedoitustilaisuuksia kerroksittain, joissa asiasta voidaan vapaasti keskustella. 4. Seuraava ilmoitus koski lahjoitussivua Koti-Postissa: Yksityisiä lahjoitusmääriä ei kirjoiteta enään tälle sivulle, ainoastaan lahjoittajien nimet ja jokaisen kategorian loppusummat. 5. Juha kertoi myös kaikille, että hoivaosaston 20-vuotis Juhlaillallinen on perjantaina 26. lokakuuta ja että kuljetuslista, sekä liput ovat saatavilla toimistosta. 6. Hannele selitti, että EPCnä toimivat nyt Sirpa ja hän itse. EPCn tehtäviin kuuluu mm. syntymäpäiväjuhlien, henkisten tilaisuuksien, voimistelu ohjelmien ja muiden toimintojen organisoiminen, sekä Koti-Postin ja Iltatuulenviestin valmisteleminen. Toimistosta saa enemmän tietoa EPCn työstä ja jos kenelläkään on uusia ideoita työmme kehittämiseksi, me mielellään niitä vastaanottaisimme. 7. Juha selvitti myös että EPCn toiminta saa kaupungilta ja terveysministeriöltä rahoitusta, mutta tämä ei ole tarpeeksi kaikkeen toimintaan, joten meidän täytyy tehdä myös varojen keräystä. 8.
