Dear Parents/Carers
Welcome back to term 4 after what was hopefully a restful holiday. Term 4 promises to be
exceedingly busy with the Bindoon Show, school leaders’ camp, the drama production,
swimming lessons, graduation and presentation evenings. In between all this we expect
students will continue their learning program. In addition, the school is going through the
transition process to become an Independent Public School where the school registrars, the
Chair of the School Council and myself are attending a number of workshops.
Last School Council Meeting – Thursday 23 October 1:30pm, Staffroom
What we expect to be the last School Council meeting will be held on Thursday 23 October in
the staffroom at 1:30pm. This very important meeting will be setting the directions for our
School Board as we work toward becoming an Independent Public School.
Agenda items include:
•
Contributions and Charges for 2015
•
School Community Survey
•
Terms of Reference - School Board
All interested parents or community members are invited (even encouraged) to attend this
meeting.
Interschool Athletics Carnival - -Friday 19 September
Our heartiest congratulations to our Bindoon Primary School athletics team which won the
Handicap Trophy at the recent interschool athletics carnival at Yanchep. All students
competed with zeal and we were proud of all their efforts. Huge congratulations go to our
champions Hayley Noblet (Year 5 Girl Champion), Madeline Cram (Year 6 Girl Champion)
and Jessica Hardy-Johnston ( Year 7 Girl Champion). Thank you to Mrs Deb Whitely who
worked hard to prepare our team; and to parents who transported their children to the event
and cheered them on.
One-Line Budget Information
All parents and carers will receive letters and forms today asking for an important update to
information for the school. You are asked to provide information about parent education
levels and employment status which help determine the level of funding received by
schools as part of the new one-line budget for all schools. This information is
confidential. I urge all parents to complete the forms so Bindoon Primary School receives the
funding to which it is entitled.

answer!! Those turning 14 after 1st September are still eligible. Players will be expected to train on
Monday’s (4.30pm – 6pm) and attend fortnightly matches, only travelling to away games once a

Walk to School Day – 22nd October
On Wednesday 22 October we encourage you to walk to school with your children and participate in Walk to School Day for 2014.
Walking part or all of the way to school helps children to achieve the 60 minutes of physical activity they need every day for good
health.
Supervised walks with parents also help children to develop positive road safety behaviours and attitudes.
Other good reasons to leave the car behind and walk your children to school each day:
Milo In2Cricket is returning to Bindoon this summer at Chinkabee Oval for
children aged 5-12 years. We will have 6 sessions of fun activities prior to Christmas beginning
Sunday 2nd November and another 6 in Term 1, 2015 from 9-10.15am on Sunday morning. Each
participant will receive a backpack of cricket goodies for a $65 registration fee. See Debra
Whitely (Centre Coordinator) at Bindoon Primary School for further details or phone 0428017777
or register online at: www.in2cricket.com.au

Walking is an easy way to be active
It is fun and gives families and friends a chance to chat
Walking improves your mood
Walking provides an opportunity to be outside and in nature
Walking can be safer – it helps reduce congestion around the school
Remember walking is free, it’s better for the environment and it keeps our bodies fit and healthy!
Children less than 10 years old need to be supervised when walking to and from school as they are not developmentally ready to judge
traffic when crossing the road.
REMINDER: Active After School Communities commenced today. We are doing cricket this term. This is the last
term the AASC program will be offered as the federal government have ceased the funding and have a new
initiative in the works for midway next year. It is not too late to register so return completed forms (available at
office) as soon as possible. Help is still required for cutting up a fruit platter at 3pm on a Monday/Thursday.
For more information visit http://www.walkoveroctober.com.au/ or contact the Healthy School’s Officer at the WA Country Health
Service Wheatbelt Public Health Unit on 9622 4320 or [email protected]
Walk to School Day is coordinated by the Heart Foundation in collaboration with the State Government, RAC and Healthier Workplace
WA as part of Walk Over October.
