MARRIAGE
Arrangements should be made with a priest as

MINISTRY TO THE SICK
In the event of serious illness or when
someone is hospitalized, the parish office
should be notified. The Eucharist and the Sacrament of the
Sick will be celebrated with anyone requesting them.
Remember, the Hospital cannot notify us on their own.
YOUTH MINISTRY
The Youth Mass is at 9:30 AM on Sundays and “Get-A-Grip,”
grades 7-12, meets for Liturgy of the Word during the Mass
on the first Sunday of the month. Youth in grades 9-12 meet
at scheduled intervals.

CHOIR
STEWARDSHIP AND TITHING
We are fortunate enough to have a Parish Choir that has a full
multi-lingual repertoire, as well as a Junior Choir . The Choir
rehearses on Thursday at 7:30 PM, and the Junior Choir on
Wednesday at 7:40 PM., following Religious Education Class.
Instrumentalists are welcomed, either to play solo or with our
choir. A parish orchestra made up of children and adults
rehearses and performs several times during the year. For
more information, or to volunteer, please call John or Martha
Nowik after Mass or at the Parish Office.
Stewardship calls us to freely give of our time, talent, and
treasure for the good of our parish family and community.
God gives us everything! I give Him back my tithe. Tithing
is God’s plan to support His Church. Full tithing means 10%
of gross income to God – 5% for your parish church and 5 %
for other charities.

DEDICATION OF THE LATERAN BASILICA IN ROME
First Reading: Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9, 12
This reading from the Prophet Ezekiel tells of the streaming, healing
waters that flow from the temple. These waters restore life to the river’s
inhabitants as well as the fruit bearing trees along its banks. It is
believed that the water signifies blessings, whereas the lack of signifies
trouble, hardship.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:9c-11, 16-17
Paul compares us to a building whose foundation has been laid by
Jesus. As the people of God, we can only be solid if we are grounded
in Christ.
Gospel: John 2:13-22
Near the time of Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem and saw the
temple had become a marketplace. He became angry and proceeded
to drive out the vendors and livestock. Jesus spoke of destroying the
temple and rebuilding it in three days. The Jews did not know Jesus
was speaking of his body, but when his resurrection from the dead
came to pass, his disciples remembered what Jesus had said and
came to believe the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.

Rodzice dzieci w wieku szkolnym zobowiązani są do posyłania ich na

Niedziela – 09 listopada
Rocznica Poświęcenia Bazyliki Laterańskiej
Gdy po trzech wiekach prześladowań, Kościół odzyskał
wolność cesarz Konstantyn Wielki ofiarował Papieżowi
starożytny pałac Lateranów i wzniósł przy nim Bazylikę ku czci
Zbawiciela, którą Papież – św. Sylwester, uroczyście
konsekrował w dniu 9 listopada 324 roku. Ponieważ przy
bazylice tej wzniesiono chrzcielnicę poświęconą Janowi
Chrzcicielowi, stał się on drugim patronem Bazyliki. Przy
Bazylice Laterańskiej koncentrowało się życie Kościoła przez
tysiąc lat.Odbyło się tam wiele synodów rzymskich i pięć
soborów powszechnych. Chociaż papieże przenieśli się do
Watykanu, bazylika na Lateranie pozostaje katedrą Rzymu,
matką i głową wszystkich kościołów świata.

Wspomnienie św. Marcina z Tours, (316-397)
Był żołnierzem rzymskim, a następnie pustelnikiem, biskupem i
apostołem Galów. Jedna z legend mówi, że podarował żebrakowi pół
swego żołnierskiego płaszcza. Jest patronem żołnierzy.

Konkurs Sportowy dla Rodzin
Rycerze Kolumba organizują w dniu 16 listopada, po mszy
świętej o godz. 9:30 Konkurs rzutów do kosza dla rodzin (dla
dzieci od 6 lat i rodziców). Przewidziane nagrody w różnych
kategoriach wiekowych! Prosimy o wcześniejsze zgłoszenie
swego udziału poprzez zapisanie się na listę wystawioną w
bocznej nawie kościoła.
Towarzystwo św. Anny
Patronką tej grupy parafialnej jest Babcia Pana Jezus a jej
członkinie mają na celu przede wszystkim pomoc matkom
oczekującym potomstwa oraz nowonarodzone dzieci. W dniu
16 listopada, po mszy świętej o godz. 9:30 zapraszają one
wszyskie kobiety na kawę. Można będzie się dowiedzieć na
czym polega ich działalność.
Polska Szkoła
Jutro, z racji Dnia Weterana, nie będzie zajęć w Polskiej
Szkole, ale o godz. 5:30 po południu zapraszamy rodziców
oraz wszystkich innych chętnych do pomocy w pieczeniu
ciasteczek, które dzieci będą dekorować a część z nich będzie
przeznaczona na sprzedaż. Wszyscy będą mile widziani.

Listopad miesiącem modlitw za zmarłych!
Święto Niepodległości Polski – 11 listopada
W wielu krajach Europy 11 listopada obchodzony jest
jako Święto Zakończenia Pierwszej Wojny Światowej, w
Stanach Zjednoczonych jest do Dzień Weteranów, w Kanadzie
jest to Dzień Pamięci, a w Polsce przypada w tym dniu
Narodowe Święto Niepodległości. Polska obchodzi je w
rocznicę odzyskania 11 listopada 1918 roku suwerennego bytu
państwowego po 123-letniej niewoli. Naczelnikiem państwa
został wtedy Józef Piłsudski. Święto narodowe 11 listopada
wprowadziła ustawa Sejmu w 1937 roku. Dzień ten pozostawał
oficjalnie świętem państwowym do 1944 roku. Rok później
komunistyczne władze ustanowiły święto 22 lipca - w rocznicę
ogłoszenia manifestu Polskiego Komitetu Wyzwolenia
Narodowego. Dzień ten pozostawał świętem państwowym w
PRL. Święto 11 listopada zostało przywrócone przez Sejm w
1989 roku.

Zył w latach 1580-1604. W 1604 wstąpił do bazylianów unickich; w
1617 został biskupem płockim.

Benedykt, Jan, Izaak, Mateusz, Barnaba i Krystian założyli

Był pustelnikiem w Azji; zmarł w 446 roku

Biskup, doktor Kościoła; był wykładowcą we Fryburgu, Ratyzbonie i
Paryżu. Pozostawił liczne dzieła filozoficzne, teologiczne i

Przez cały miesiąc listopad czasie każdej mszy świętej odprawianej w
naszej parafii modlić się będziemy za naszych bliskich zmarłych,
których poleciliśmy modlitwie Kościoła w wypominkach.
Myśli na temat zmarłych
Łza za zmarłymi wyparowuje, kwiat na grobie więdnie, modlitwa
natomiast dociera do serca Najwyższego. św. Augustyn.
Jest moim zwyczajem, którego nauczyłem się w rodzinie, pobożne
wspomnienie zmarłych. Zawsze byli moimi dobrymi towarzyszami.

W Kościele Eucharystia składana jest tak za żywych, jak i za umarłych,
aby pomagała wszystkim, bo dla dobra wszystkich została
ustanowiona. św. Tomasz z Akwinu.
W ciągu wszystkich wieków chrześcijaństwo żywiło fundamentalne
przekonanie, że miłość może dotrzeć aż na tamten świat, że jest
możliwe wzajemne obdarowanie, w którym jesteśmy połączeni
więzami uczucia poza granice śmierci. To przekonanie pozostaje
pocieszającym doświadczeniem. Któż nie pragnąłby, aby do jego
bliskich, którzy odeszli na tamten świat, dotarł znak dobroci,
wdzięczności czy też prośba o przebaczenie? Benedykt XVI.
Gdy Chrystus przyjdzie sądzić żywych i umarłych, to Jego Matka na
progu nowego życia będzie odbierała westchnienie Rodziny ludzkiej:
O łaskawa, o litościwa, o słodka Panno Maryjo. Kard. Stefan Wyszyński.
Największym bólem, jaki odczujesz z powodu swoich biednych
zmarłych, będzie zawsze myśl, że ich niedostatecznie kochałeś.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR PRE-K & K
The classes for Pre-K and Kindergarten will resume for their
second semester session in February.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ADVENT FAIR
On Saturday, December 6th, we will hold our Annual Advent
Fair for all our Religious Education Students. It should be
noted that this is a regular class and is not optional. The
Advent Fair begins at 9:30 and concludes at noon. A great
deal of faith formation is incorporated in a morning filled
with fun, wonder, and imagination. A great deal of time,
talent, and treasure goes into the preparation of this event
so all our students are expected to attend.
…..Religious Education Parents. If, after you drop off
your children, you would like to offer a little help in
preparing some projects by cutting, tracing, pasting, or
stamping, stop in the Religious Education Office where a
few parents have already gathered to help prepare for the
Advent Fair. No experience necessary!!
EMMAUS BOOK CLUB
Looking ahead, the next meeting of the Emmaus Book Club
will be on Monday, January 26th at 7:00PM in the Rectory.
The first book for discussion will be The Light Between
Oceans by M.L. Stedman in which a young couple are
faced with a moral dilemma and gradually realize the
devastating impact their choices have on the lives of others.
The second book is Recipe for Joy, a Stepmom’s Story of
Finding Faith, Following Love, and Feeding Family by
Robin Davies. There are several copies of this book
available for borrowing from the Parish Office. Read one or
both of our selections and join us for an informal, friendly
discussion. All are welcome.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Scarves for the Baby Shower are being prepared at this
time so if you would like to be part of that and need some
yarn, call the office! The next meeting is Wednesday,
January 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the Parish Center.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
No, it’s not too early! We will have our traditional
Christmas Presentation at the beginning of the
Christmas Eve Vigil Mass done by our children.

graders will be readers and helpers. Practices are
scheduled on Wednesdays before Religious Ed. for
convenience. Sign-up sheets are in the open area of the

…Baby Food Drive…the St. Anne Society is

...Ladies Fellowship Morning… to be held on
Sunday, November 16th following the 9:30 Mass. The
invitation is extended to women and children to stop into the
Parish Center for coffee and refreshments and you will
have the opportunity to meet some of the women of the
parish and see more of what we do.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on a regular
basis on Saturdays at 5PM and on Sunday mornings after
the 8AM, 9:30AM, and 11AM Masses. The Sacrament is

ADVENT SCRIPTURE SHARING
Advent Scripture Sharing will be on Tuesdays, December
2nd, 9th, and 16th at 1 PM n the Parish Center.
The Sunday Scripture Sharing Group will meet after the
9:30 Mass in the Parish Center on November 30th,
December 7th and 14th. The topic for Sundays will be: Mary,
the mother of the Lord: a series of reflections and dialogue
on a woman of courage and faith. Sundays will reflect on
what we know about first century Judaism, post Vatican II
scholarship and theological insight to present the portrait of
a dynamic personality who not only influenced her son, but
had an impact on the early Church.
THANKSGIVING DAY MASS
On Thursday, November 27th, Thanksgiving, we will
celebrate one Mass at 9:30AM. This yearly tradition is a
perfect way to begin the many family celebrations; there is
no better way to begin anything than with giving thanks to
God remembering that all we have comes from God and it
is ours to share with others.

……Basketball Free Throw Contest…the Knights
will sponsor a Free Throw Contest on Sunday, November
16th after the 9:30 Mass in the gym. Those who are 6 years
old and up can participate –this includes teens, Moms and
Dads!! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in
all categories and certificates of participation will be given to
all. Simply come to the gym after Mass that day or preregister in the open area of the Church.
SAINT BARTHOLOMEW ACADEMY
In celebration of All Saints Day, the fifth grade students
researched and wrote a short report about a chosen
saint. To celebrate All Souls Day, the students chose a
person to pray for, and wrote about what the person
means to them and why they wanted to pray for them.
Through these two activities, the fifth graders learned
more about the lives of the saints and were able to
celebrate the lives of those for whom they were
praying.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
The support group for those caring for elderly or chronically
ill loved ones will meet on Monday, December 1st at St.

CHRISTMAS WREATHS AND GRAVE COVERS
Once again orders will be taken for door wreaths and grave

orders is November 30 and the wreaths are $15 and the
grave covers $25. They will be ready for pick-up on the
weekend of December 12 &13 after all the Masses.

Freshman Foundations Program Information
Night…this program is designed to help academically
struggling students and those with IEP or ISP learning
classifications build a strong skills foundation so they can
succeed in high school and continue on to college. Only 30
students will be accepted to this Program.
CREATE A CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST FOR YOUTH
Our Bulletin Company is holding a contest for youth from the
ages of 3-17 to “create a card as you view the sight of this
heavenly holy, silent night.” There is a $100 award for each

HOW TO REPORT ABUSE
The Archdiocese takes very seriously any and all
allegations of sexual misconduct by members of the clergy,
Religious and lay staff of the Archdiocese. We encourage
anyone with knowledge of an act of sexual misconduct to
inform us so that we may take appropriate action to protect
others and provide support to victims of sexual abuse. Call

I can remember visiting Rome with all the ancient
and venerable places: St. Peter’s Basilica; the
catacombs where early Christians were buried;
the churches of St. Mary Major and the Gesu; and
St. John Lateran, the pope’s cathedral, the
dedication of which we celebrate this weekend.
I must admit, I had a bit of a “So what?”
response to this particular feast. Why this
commemoration in every Catholic Church in the
world, and why is it so important that it replaces
the Sunday? For us American Catholics, where it
is in our blood to create anew, this is especially
strange. “What has this to do with us?”
St. John Lateran was the first Christian
basilica, dedicated on November 9 in the year 324.
Its name comes from the family who donated the
land, the Laterani family, and the church is
dedicated under the patronage of both St. John
the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist. The
popes lived in the palace adjoining the church
until the 14th century.
This was the site of five ecumenical
councils. The church is still the pope’s cathedral,
not, as many assume, St. Peter’s. And, as the
pope is the shepherd of the universal church, the
Lateran Basilica of St. John is the cathedral
church of the world. Over the doorway of the
entrance, the inscription reads in Latin: Omnium
urbis et orbis ecclesiarum mater et caput, that is,
“Mother and head of all the churches of the city
and of the world.”
That is why the dedication of St. John
Lateran is celebrated in parish churches in
Boston and San Francisco and Haiti and even
Plainfield and everywhere else. Even when Rome
was remote and communication took days, it is
through Rome that we connect to all Catholics
everywhere. Rome’s failures are our failures, and
Rome’s glories are also ours. One of those
glories is that we are one people despite our
native language language, our race or ethnicity,
our station in life. That is what this feast of
dedication is about: building the whole people of
God, across space and time, into a holy temple.
So, let us pray for each other, as sisters
and brothers in Christ, and pray especially for
Pope Francis, that he may continue to inspire
believers everywhere to holiness, humility and
humor as we witness to the love of God for this
world.
