ALL SOULS DAY
DÍA DE TODAS LAS ALMAS
In this season all of nature speaks to us of harvest and the singular
beauty of this season. But the beauty of autumn is a terrible sort
of beauty, for it is the beauty of death itself. In these days the
Church celebrates the harvest of God’s faithful. Our completion
as human beings comes only in that full and final choice for God
which is possible in death. Were it not for Christ, we would
despair. But Christ has shared our fear of entering a gateway
whose other side we cannot know. In him we have a glimpse of
the completion which awaits us. Because of him we can celebrate
the deaths of those responsible for our lives. In him we perceive
the beauty of a dying which will bring us into God´s harvest.
muerte.
no podemos saber.


MENSAJE PASTORAL
You might ask, “How can I be more holy?” We don’t have to make ourselves holy. We
already are, and we just don’t know it yet.
In Christian terminology this inherent holiness is called the Divine Indwelling or the Gift
of the Holy Spirit. The awakening of the True Self in God is the essential, foundational,
and primary task of all religion. Authentic religion is more about subtraction than
addition, more letting go of the false self than any attempt at engineering our own True
Self. You can’t create what you already have.
We become the One we gaze upon. We are, eventually, just like the God we worship.
This gaze upon God is the True Self, perfectly given to us, and always waiting to be
perfectly received.
Adapted from Richard Rohr

NEW HEARING DEVICES IN
CHURCH
Our new state of the art sound system has
allowed us to purchase devices for those
with hearing difficulty at Mass. We shall
make these available next weekend. Since
they are wireless, they may be used in any
pew of the church or in the Wedding
Chapel. We have started with five
devices. They will not interfere with any
hearing aid one may already be using.
Please take advantage of this by going to
the sacristy well before Mass begins. Ask
the first person you may see to find the
sacristan for you. The sacristan will give
you this device and assist with any explanation necessary. (They are simple to
use.) These are quite costly and you will
be asked to leave a picture ID until you
return it to the sacristy after Mass.

National Parish Religious Education Week
November 2-9, 2014
Encountering Christ Every Day
The National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) celebrated the first National Parish Religious Education Week last
year in 2013. The purpose of the week is to focus on the service of the women and men, adults, youth, and children, laity,
ordained, and professed religious who are echoing the gospel and helping people grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus
Christ and the Catholic Church.
Every day of the week some type of religious education is occurring in the parish. As the hub of lifelong faith formation, the
parish - both the people and the place - weaves together essential strands within the fabric of effective Catholic education.
The Religious Education Department of St. Anne, along with Fr. Al, would like to thank all who are serving the parish in all
the programs of Faith Formation from CCE, Middle School , Edge, Youth, Life Teen, Adult Confirmation, RCIA, Adult
Bible Study, and Adult Formation. This week the parish is invited to pray for these servants of the Word, by offering special
intentions for a special group each day. On Monday the focus is for the catechists who serve the younger children in CCE;
Tuesday for middle school; Wednesday for high school; Thursday for adult programs.
Everyone is invited to join the Religious Education Department each day starting at 11:00 AM for a Prayer Hour which will
include the Rosary. The hour will be designated for the intentions of the Catechists for that specific formation group of the
day. The sessions will meet in the Brides Room and will conclude with the daily noon Mass. Brown bag lunch will be held
in the conference room of the Religious Education Office following Mass; drinks and dessert will be provided.
The theme of the week is Encountering Christ Every Day. We encounter Christ at the center of our parish’s work in
catechesis where adults, youth, and children learn the Catholic faith and express it as Christian disciples. We act on this
when we allow the knowledge and love of Jesus that we have become our outward expressions to all we meet. We are
asked to share those encounters daily.
The National Parish Religious Education Week Celebration will end with a Family Fall Festival for all faith formation
families on Sunday, November 9, starting at 6:00 PM in the Parish Center with carnival games, food, prizes, piñata,
and more.
Remember to pray for a person who has helped you in your own faith formation. Let us ask God to bless them as we
thank them for echoing the Gospel to us.

ST. ANNE SCHOOL NEWS
A Grande FIESTA Thank You!
Dear St. Anne Parishioners,
The campus has finally quieted down and
is back to normal after a great FIESTA
weekend. I want to sincerely thank the
entire St. Anne Catholic Community for
making FIESTA 2014 such a success. The
Lord blessed us with incredible weather
and so many visitors that we sold out of
just about everything before the winning
raffle tickets were drawn; indeed that is a
good problem to have!
The volunteers of FIESTA are the lifeline
of this great festival. Many things have
changed over the years, but the constant
for the last 66 years is that FIESTA could
not happen without all of the volunteer
hours that are given to this parish.
Although we do not have all the final
numbers yet, FIESTA was also a financial

NOTICIAS DE LA ESCUELA SANTA ANA
success. We raised over $116,000 in
sponsorships, sold over $135,000 in raffle
tickets, and made about $85,000 on the
day of FIESTA. Once we have all our
expenses in order, we will be sure to
report back our earnings and expenses.
Thank you again, to each and every one of
you who helped make FIESTA such a
great day!
Sincerely,
Dawn Martinez
¡Un Gracias Grande de la FIESTA!
Estimados Feligreses de Sta. Ana,
parroquia. Aunque todavía no tenemos
los números finales, FIESTA fue también
un éxito financiero. Recaudamos más de
$116,000 en patrocinadores, vendimos
más de $135,000 en boletos de la rifa, y
colectamos más de $85,000 el día de la
FIESTA.
Sinceramente,
Dawn Martinez

St. Augustine wrote in his confessions that our souls are restless until they rest in God, and that
although we all seek happiness in a variety of ways, the happy life can only be found in Christ. Dr.
Christi Williams will discuss the insights Augustine gives on how our souls are prone to wander away
from this true rest, and how we may seek to reorder our loves so that we love and seek God first, and
then love all other things in Him.
