“We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord” is the
name of a himno Catholic hymn that expresses well the
message of today’s Readings. Every Christian is linked
to Christ and all other Christians by a living bond of life
and love. This is what Jesus is saying in today’s Gospel when he says:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in
him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” In
the First Reading St. Paul visits the Church in Jerusalem and discovers
that apart from the Church he can do nothing. He needs Barnabas,
always kind and encouraging, to introduce him to the Apostles so he is
accepted by all. Living in unity in Christ means living the opening
words of today’s Second Reading: “Children, let us love not in word
or speech but in deed and truth.” All this is possible through the Holy
Spirit of love, unity, peace, wisdom. In the Spirit and moved by the
Spirit, we are one in Jesus!

nombre de una canción popular que expresa muy bien el
mensaje de las Lecturas de hoy. Cada cristiano está
enlazado a Cristo y a los otros cristianos con lazos de
vida y de amor. Esto es lo que Jesús dice en el Evangelio
cuando dice: “ Yo soy la vid y ustedes son los sarmientos, el que
permanezca en mí y yo en él da mucho fruto, porque sin mí no
pueden hacer nada”. En la Primera Lectura San Pablo visita a la
Iglesia de Jerusalén y descubre que separado de la Iglesia no
puede hacer nada. Él necesita de Bernabé, siempre bondadoso y
fiel, para poder ser presentado a los Apóstoles y ser acepatado por
ellos. Vivir en unida dcon Cristo significa vivir abierto a la
Palabra de Dios contenida en la Segunda Lectura de hoy: “ Hijos,
no amemos solamente de palabra; amemos de verddad y con las

las labores administrativas, pero nunca se jubilant de
los ministerios sacerdotales. La mayoría de nuestros
sacerdotes, algunos entre los 80 y 90 años de edad,
continúan celebrando la Eucaristía y otros sacramentos, enseñan, predican, aconsejan y oran. Su valor
para la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles nunca podría
ser calculado, pero lo que sí sabemos es que a estos
hombres les debemos gratitude, reconocimiento y
apoyo por haber dado su vida al pueblo de Dios aquí
en el sur de California.

Camp Mariastella, a residential camp for girls, located in lovely
Wrightwood, the San Gabriel Mountains, is currently accepting
applications for campers: girls ages 7-15 who would love to
have a really great week at Summer Camp.
We are also recruiting young women who are at least 17 to
work as summer camp counselors for the summer a great way to
spend your summer!
And we are looking for nurses who would like to volunteer for
one week with our summer camp program.
Our camp buses pick up in Thousand Oaks, San Bernardino,
Victorville, San Fernando Valley, Covina, Orange, Upland and
Los Angeles.
A week or summer at camp is the best experience you will have,
we promise that!
Camp Mariastella is a Ministry of the Sisters of
Social Service.
