When I began working
in the profession I joined
professional associations
including the IPA to
assist me in becoming
the best paralegal I
could be.

have been instrumental
in helping me put my
best foot forward over
the years. As a paralegal
there is the need to
never stop learning
about the intricacies of
the law. With the help
of the educational sessions I attended over the
years, the IPA has
helped me in that
respect. Where else can
I find such top notch
speakers addressing me
as a paralegal?
The IPA Education
conference is first and
foremost, a place where
paralegals from all disciplines can come together and attend an informative session on a topic
that may or may not be
related to one’s area of
practice.
Attending
some sessions might
lead to a new path in the
paralegal
profession.
From corporate law to
technology to litigation
and topics in-between,
paralegals should find
sessions that will appeal
to his or her area of
practice.
To the end of leading
to a new path in the profession, a paralegal does
not have to be working
in the area of law to
attend the specific seminar sessions. Some of
the best seminars I have
attended have been
totally unrelated to the
areas of law my employer practices. It is usually
shortly after attending
the seminar that a question arises relating to the
seminar I attended. I
then promptly pull out
the seminar information
and the speaker’s telephone number. Nothing
like a little razzle dazzle
in the day to make your
employer feel good
about sending you to
seminars.
The IPA strives to
provide a mix of sessions
from litigation, technol-
ogy, corporate, and
more which will appeal
to paralegals. While not
all sessions will pique
your interest hopefully
many of them will and
will be helpful to you in
your everyday work.
The education conferences are not only
about learning. They
provide an opportunity
to meet and mingle with
our peers. This is your
