This fall has been absolutely incredible for athletics, but also for academics. In two weeks we will induct 12 high school students into the National Honor Society at a ceremony in Van Buren. The next week we will induct 22 middle school students into the National Junior Honor Society. The STEM club is working on a robot for competition and will be presenting to elementary students on topics they have been researching. Many high school students took the ACT in September and many more will be taking it in the coming months, preparing for college application. Mrs. Day has a great core of math tutors helping peers with math homework during the school day. High school students are enrolled in dual enrollment classes, which allow them both high school and college credit in these challenging areas, such as English and Psychology. In addition, we have many students taking advantage of technical programs at Millstream. As the first quarter comes to a close at the end of October, opportunities will be coming up for families to be involved in their students’ educational experience. Please sign up for a parentteacher conference and find out how your child is doing. Also, if you have concerns at any time, it is not necessary to wait for conferences. Don’t hesitate to call and set up an appointment or email any teacher at any time. We want to be a team with you and your child to make our students as successful as they can be. Also, if you have concerns or questions about anything related to McComb Schools, we are encouraging people to make contact right away with the person in charge of the area in which you have a concern. If it is a classroom concern, that would be the teacher first. If it is cafeteria, transportation, finance, athletics, please call the office (419-293-3979), and we can direct you to the right administrator. One phone call can alleviate a lot of heartache, anxiety or misinformation. We are here to serve you. Our next Reader will not go out until after Thanksgiving, so let me say “Thank you” to all of the men and women reading this who have served or are serving our country. We look forward to honor- McComb Local School Published by McComb Local School Return Service Requested ing our military folks on November 11. Also, let me encourage our seniors to join us on the 21st for lunch, as we celebrate you. And finally, let me wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. May you enjoy some time with family and friends, and feel the joy of all of your blessings. Mrs. Skilliter 2014 McComb Volleyball Congratulations to the McComb High School Varsity Volleyball team on their 22-0 season and on winning another BVC championship title. NON-PROFIT ORG. The middle school is hoping to generously contribute to make others have a happy holiday. Students in middle and high school are encouraged to sign out an angel from the tree in the cafeteria during lunch starting in mid November. Newly purchased unwrapped gifts may be dropped off in Mrs. Borgelt’s classroom through December 3. It is helpful if gifts are in a sturdy bag with the angel securely attached to the outside.
