Gary is working to maintain a healthy life style after being almost 280 pounds. “I’ve had a low self-esteem… I was losing myself to life and everyday stresses. I needed a kick in the rear, a motivational tool.” He joined the Y 6 years ago and continues his weight training with a little cardio. “I am passionate and dedicated to my workout to a point I might seem a little overly zealous. But believe me, I will stop and say “Hello and how are you.” What he enjoys most about the Y is the friends he has made and the people he encounters here each visit. “I’m blessed with more friends than I’ve ever had.” Gary has three children: Reginald, Nicole, Mike and Danille. In his free time, Gary enjoys collectibles and antiques. His favorite quote comes from the movie It’s A Wonderful Life: “Remember George, no man is a failure who has friends.” 4
