HONORING THE SANCTUARY . . . Please be reminded to respect the sanctity of God’s house
by not bringing food or beverages, including water bottles, in the Sanctuary. Also, please do not
stick items in the bible/hymnal holder compartment of the pews & remember to take all of your
belongings with you. The only place food and beverages are to be consumed is in Fellowship
Hall. Let us all be good stewards and not risk ruining church property and wasting tithes made to
God on repairs that would not otherwise be necessary. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation.

INVITATION: The SALEM CARES MINISTRY invites all persons coping with Cancer, Dementia
and other Life -Threatening Illnesses and their Caregivers to join us in our MONTHLY
FELLOWSHIP which will take place each 4th Sunday after the 10 AM Worship Service in the Rear
Atrium of the Family Life Center. The next Fellowship is scheduled for November 23, 2014.

SALEM YOUTH MINISTRY is partnering with YOUTH ACTION IN THEIR 9TH ANNUAL TOY

SCHOLARSHIP & ENDOWMENT MINISTRY REALIZING THE DREAM SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATION The Salem Scholarship and Endowment Ministry is now accepting applications for
our Realizing the Dream Scholarships. The scholarships are for Salem students currently enrolled
in college.
Scholarships will be awarded at the 10 o'clock service on Scholarship Sunday,
December 28, 2014. To be considered for a Realizing the Dream Scholarship, please return a
completed application form along with required documentation to the Scholarship Ministry
before December 8, 2014. Applications with all required documents should be returned to the
attention of the Scholarship Selection Committee, Salem Baptist Church of Jenkintown, 610 Summit

5th Annual MLK Luncheon
Chairpersons Rev. Marshall Paul Hughes Mitchell and Commissioner Josh Shapiro, Chairman,
Montgomery County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce the speaker for the MLK
Luncheon. This year’s speaker, Rahiel Tesfamarian, is a public theologian, social activist, writer
and speaker. She is a Stanford University graduate and holds a Master of Divinity from Yale
University where she was the inaugural William Sloane Coffin, Jr. Scholar for Peace and Justice.
She is also Founder/Publisher of UrbanCusp.com, a cutting-edge online lifestyle magazine
highlighting progressive urban culture, faith, social change and global awareness. Rahiel has been
recognized for her tireless dedication to global issues, community activism and youth advocacy.

A Sponsorship and Ad opportunity form will be available after each Sunday service in Fellowship
Hall until December 15, 2014 for the MLK Souvenir Program Book. We would like to encourage
each Salem Board and Ministry to purchase an Ad this year. In addition, individuals are able to be

MARTIN LUTHER KING ETERNAL FLAME ESSAY CONTEST
High school student’s grades 9-12 are encouraged to participate in a writing contest that celebrates
the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The essay topic centers on the Eternal Flame that shines in
front of Dr. King's tomb in Atlanta, Georgia. The Eternal Flame serves as a reminder of Dr. King's
commitment to justice, peace and equality. The purpose of this contest is to write a personal
narrative that responds to or is inspired by Dr. King's legacy. Essays must be typed, 1,000 word
limit. Essay should be submitted with a cover page that contains all requested personal
information. Deadline for submission: November 30, 2014. Prizes: 1st Place $100.00 2nd Place

venture on a new journey . . . “THE GRATEFUL CHALLENGE!” Directions: 1) Each day, for 6
days, state 3 things for which you are grateful. 2) On the 7 th day, challenge 3 other people to do the
same; but that doesn’t mean you have to stop! 3) They in turn will continue the same pattern. Let us
praise our Lord by showing unity of His Spirit. We all have a reason to praise the Lord; Let us join

all cancellations must be reported in timely manner for the safety of staff & ministry

4:00 P.M. on the Tuesday of each week. This is necessary so they can be approved prior to
Sunday morning and included in the Sunday programs. However, when a loved one has
