TSA clarifies
IMPHAL, Nov 17: The Thadou
Students’ Association has expressed dissatisfaction over the
endorsement of the proposed
smart city by Thangbung Minou
village chief Thurhring Anal and
clarified that TSA is not involved
in the legal dispute regarding the
ownership of the land near
Moreh. Terming the act as unfortunate and surprising, the
statement asserted that the village
chief had unnecessarily dragged
TSA into the alleged legal dispute. The Association has so far
taken a stance to safeguard the
interest of the tribal community
and would continue to support the
common cause of the people, the
statement added. The statement
also urged all the tribal chiefs and
tribal populace to come forth and
protect the tribal land and its historic identity.
MMC notifies
IMPHAL, Nov 17: The
Manipur Medical Council
(MMC) has notified to all the
doctors who are practising or
servicing scientific system of
medicine as physician/ surgeon
or as an officer in Government or
any other institutions maintained
by local authorities to register
with the Medical Council, said a
release issued by the Registrar of
MMC. The registration certificates shall be valid for five years
after which the same should be
renewed by applying in a prescribed form, the statement said.

(DRT) has been formed today
during a meeting at the office of
Bishnupur Network of Positive
People. Individuals from different sections of the society are
included in the committee that
was formed with an aim to provide care and support to people
living with HIV/AIDS. The
committee further informed all
concerned to pass information to
any of the members in case of
any discriminatory attitude or
crime against PLHIV.

Powers Act (AFSPA) saying
the statute was imposed during
the Congress regime.
"It was the Congress government which imposed the
Act taking into account the
growing militancy in the Valley and Chidambaram was
very much there, holding pivotal position in the central
government," he told PTI
here.
The Minister of State for
Parliamentary and Minority
Affairs alleged that the Kashmir Valley became a "safe
haven for anti-India forces
supported by Pakistan" during the Congress rule.
"Do we need to remind a
former minister, deemed as an
extremely intelligent leader,
that during Congress rule
when Pakistan-based intruders attacked Kashmir and
occupied a portion of former
Maharaja's state, it was the
then government which
handed over the dispute to
UN and accepted plebiscite.
"You create the problem
and when your successors
take measures to find out the
solution, you demand modifications just to avail political
benefits," he claimed.
Chidambaram had recently
termed AFSPA as an "obnoxious law", and said it had
no place in a modern and
civilised country.

sucessfully operated a twomonth old suffering from
Wolff-Parkinson-White
Syndrome.
The second son of
Yumnam Indrajit (39) and
Yumnam (O) Fahar (28), the
infant was born with WolffParkinson-White Syndrome.
He was examined at various
hospitals when he started refusing food and developing
fever. Doctors, however, mistook the symtoms for a minor
cold.
When the infant was admitted at Sky Hospital, his
pulse rate per minute was
close to 291.
A team led by Dr
Shyamkishor, Chairman, Sky
Hospital, through utmost care
and dedication, was able to
succesfully operate and cure
the symptom.
Speaking to mediapersons,
Dr Shyamkishor informed
that adults can also develop
Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome. The doctor advised
people with unsual pulse rate
to immediately consult a doctor. The infant, after the
operation recorded a normal
heart rate of 93 per minute.
He was discharged from the
hospital today.
Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab
have so far not responded to

NGOs are not filing IT returns.

The state government has

the state government to
apprise it of relief and
rehabilitation work undertaken so far by the State
Disaster Management
Authority (SDMA) in the
flood-ravaged state.
"You (State) should be
in a position to tell us as to
what has been done so far,"
it said.
"The state has said that
the authority (SDMA) has
been constituted and it is
functioning. However, the
Advocate General has not
been able inform us about
the decisions taken by it," it
said and sought a report
from the state government
on November 24, the next
date of hearing.

Trust, run by anti-corruption
crusader Anna Hazare.
Earlier, the agency had
expressed difficulty in probing and collecting information
on NGOs and had pleaded
that the task be handed over
to states, but the plea was
summarily rejected by the
court which directed the
agency to comply with its
order.
"If CBI can probe murder
cases then why not probe
against NGOs? You can do
so many things, you do it

PM's plane made to wait at
Myanmar airport for 92 mins
NEW DELHI, Nov 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
Air India One plane was made to wait at the Nay Pyi Taw
Airport in Myanmar last week for 92 minutes due to delay
in refuelling it before it flew to Brisbane.
The flight, scheduled to depart at 2130 hours on
Thursday, left only at 2302 hours after the delay due
to "non- cooperation" of the airport staff, government
sources said.
"The delay was mainly due to the ground handler
delaying fuel and low bar facilities to our flight as a
result of which it got delayed by 92 minutes. The
matter has been reported to Embassy and the SPG
(Special Protection Group)," an Air India official told
PTI here. The sources said refuelling was not carried
out to full capacity but done in phases stretching over
nearly five-and-a- half hours and there was only one
bowser at the airport for the job.
They said the Air India officials, who were asking
the Myanmarese airport officials to expedite refuelling,
were told that the VVIP aircraft would be fuelled only
before departure on Thursday night and not before.
The Boeing 747 was filled up to capacity only after
the Indian Embassy and the SPG, which handles
Prime Minister's security, stepped-in, following requests
from the airline, the sources said. PTI

measures ahead of the Sangai Festival.
The district police along with women police personnel
conducted a house to house search at Palace Compound residential area, near the festival venue, today around 4.30 pm.
The search operation was conducted under the supervision
of Additional SP (Ops) Imphal East and led by Officer In
Charge of Imphal East commandos.

Workshop on HIV/AIDS &
drug abuse held

IMPHAL, Nov 17: A one-day District Level Networking Workshop on HIV/AIDS and drug abuse, organised by the Diocesan
Social Service Society (DSSS), was held today at Khuman
Lampak Youth Hostel.
Speaking on the occasion, DSSS district project coordinator W Diljit said the people should join hand with the NGOs
in spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS among themselves.
The awareness among the masses, he added, in itself, could
contribute greatly in the effort to curb the disease.
State TB officer, Imphal West Dr L Suresh Singh elaborated on the remedies of TB and its co-infection with HIV and
related treatments during his speech today.

camp explained on ‘personal experience sharing on detoxification’.

UG cadres arrested
IMPHAL, Nov 17: Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding movement of a UG cadre, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26
Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Sita and apprehended an active cadre of UNLF
yesterday. The apprehendee was identified as No 1683, Sgt,
Aheibam Ngouba Meitei alias Bulu (32) S/o Late A Dewan Meitei
of Takyel Kolom Leikai, PO & PS - Langjing, Imphal West district.
A statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) claimed that
one authenticity card quantum pendant Japanese technology,
one voter identity card and Rs 1700 in cash were recovered
from his possession. The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to Singjamei PS.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Thoubal district police
commando unit and 2 Assam Rifles arrested an active cadre
of the UNLF while conducting a search operation in Wabagai
area yesterday.
Identifying the arrested individual as Keisham Nanao Singh
alias Rabi alias Achangba (25) s/o K Somendro Singh of
Wabagai Kadajit Awang Leikai, a statement issued by the
PRO of Police Dept said a case has been registered with
Kakching PS and investigation is on.
In an unrelated incident, a combined team of Bishnupur
district police commando unit and 6 AR arrested an active
member of PREPAK while conducting a search operation at
Moirang Khunou today.
The arrested man has been identified as Puyam Sindur
Singh alias Chalamba (30) s/o P Tomba Singh of Moirang
Khunou Nganuleima Maning Leikai. Incriminating articles
were seized from his possession and a case has been registered with Moirang PS, it added.
One day discussion session held

Lokendra Arambam and Nupi Samaj president Keisham
Taruni.

ZCF, ZAC to embark on bike expedition
IMPHAL, Nov 17: Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition 2014
would embark on a bike rally under the theme “Treading on Historical Legacy” which is a sequel to the Homecoming to
Makuilongdi on November 20, stated a release issued by the convenor of Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition 2014.
Zeliangrong Citizens' Forum (ZCF) and Zeliro Adventure
Club (ZAC) will ride across Assam, Manipur and Nagaland
starting from Tening (Peren, Nagaland) on November 20 and
conclude at Luangmai (Tamenglong, Manipur) on November
30 with an attempt to bring about unity among Zeliangrong,
to sensitise on the importance of the preservation of
Zeliangrong Inpui culture, to exhibit the areas of Zeliangrong
through photos, media and documentary film, to promote
adventure awareness among the youth and people and to
unearth the history of Zeliangrong Inpui's unsung heroes and
legends. The expedition would also highlight the injustices of
being territorially fragmented and politically dis-empowered in
Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, the statement said.
The rally would plant a UniTree near Ngam village, at the
tri-junction of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland as a solemn
pledge to reaffirm their indestructible bond of blood and testimony to the negligence by the three States with a message
that only a united Zeliangrong-Inpui can bring political empowerment and the long-awaited justice. The statement also
called for any interested individual belonging to ZeliangrongInpui community to participate in the bike expedition.

IMPHAL, Nov 17: Certificates for the participants of “One month
placement link skill development training programme” were
distributed today. Organised by the Rural Social Service Society
of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Institute of Cooperative
Management Imphal, the programme was attended by PHED,
Labour and Employment Minister I Hemochandra, Director InCharge ECM, S Herojit, Deputy Labour Commissioner E Tomba
Singh and Branch Manager, NEDFi Imphal G Priyobrata as the
chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Addressing the chief guest speech, I Hemochandra urged
the people not to seek only the white collar jobs but to venture
out in other productive and skilful jobs as well.
E Tomba said that the training has been organised to
introduce the people to various uses of technology in day to
day productive jobs. Speaking on the importance of the training programme, S Herojit recounted that people who had
participated in the training programme in the past are now able
to earn a livelihood. He expressed hope that if such efforts are
put into by all the people, problems of employment could be
resolved.
