Mark Your Calendars For The Special January Events Finance Lecture Series Jan. 22 Re-Gifting Party Ugly Sweater Jan. 29 Jan. 31 3 Three years ago, we had a white Halloween and now we have a white Thanksgiving. What are the odds of having that here in Lancaster in the same decade? Winter came back with a vengeance; hopefully it won’t be as bad as last year. We had two nights where the temperature dipped down to 15 degrees F. This is the earliest we have seen the greens freeze up. Once we get the golf course prepped for winter such as harvesting leaves, blowing out irrigation, bringing in the course accessories, and dormant feeding. We will shift our attention to much needed work – the trees. There are quite a few trees that are slowly dying, damaged from previous storms, and overgrown that are impeding tee shots. We also, will be trimming up the pine trees so we can manage and keep the weeds out underneath the trees. This is long overdue and it will improve the golf course dramatically. If the ground permits, we will continue to work on #6 Tee and #2 Forward Tee. It is a slow process and it will be nice once these tees are all done. There are no more railroad ties on that tee (FINALLY!). We’ve been on a mission starting 8 years ago to remove all railroad ties from the golf course. The only place we have railroad ties is at the 19th hole area next to #10 Back Tee and the loading dock before the alley way to #6 Tee. These two areas will be taken care of next winter. For those who weren’t here 8 years ago, there was A LOT of railroad ties that were very rotten. The end of the railroad ties is almost here! One last thing as we head into the winter, we will need your help to rake up the debris from falling trees. This will help us tremendously so we can focus on the cutting and chipping portion of the job. The clean up part usually take a half of our time so with limited manpower, it will help us greatly if we get volunteers to help us to rake up the debris. We will do an email blast for volunteer clean-up days throughout the winter months. We will probably schedule it on Mondays, perhaps twice per month. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Matthew Turner Course Superintendent 4 Dates will be set soon on all 2015 season events, including the two discussed below. Several new events are also being added. Keep up to date by checking out upcoming issues of Down the Middle, the CCC website, or Facebook. The season will start with a Cocktail Party/Re-gift Mixer in January. This fun event is open to all CCC women, whether you golf or not. This is a great opportunity to connect with other ladies, learn more about our 18-hole golf group, and hear about upcoming events. In March Robert Leeman will again offer a Golf Rules Night. This event is also open to all CCC ladies. It will include dinner. For more information about our organization, please email Diana Roberts at [email protected]. New Driveway and Other Projects Completed A special thanks to the Membership for their contributions that allowed us to have the driveway resurfaced all the way to the parking lot. You generosity and willingness to get involved is the reason Conestoga C.C. is here today. We were also able to replace all the doors down inside the pool complex as well as replace all the parking lot lighting with LED lights. Thanks to Ben Berger who supplied the lights at cost and Brian Rothweiler who supplied the doors at cost. We will continue to try and raise more money over the next few months to re-face the entrance walls, replace carpeting in the Pub & Dining Room and replace the deck surface in the spring. 5 Corporate Membership Program • Corporate Members and their families have full use of the swimming pool and dining facilities.
