A Word from Fr. Rocks
Christmas Blessings and Joy!
The Sunday following Christmas day dedicated to the Holy Family, that is the family of Jesus,
Mary and St. Joseph. This family is made holy by God's grace. St. Joseph was given the grace to
be the head of the Holy Family; to protect and provide for the Christ Child and his Mother. St.
Joseph was given the grace needed to be the Most Chaste Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Mary was filled with grace from the moment of her conception, preserved from the stain of
original sin. Mary remained sinless all her life and preserved her virginity, all by God's grace,
with which she freely cooperated. Jesus himself is sinless for He is God Incarnate; true God and
true man.
All of this is part of God's plan for our salvation. It is interesting that the Person of the Son
would become Incarnate and be born of a mother and into a family. From this it can be understood that family is part of God's plan for our salvation. The vocation, the calling, of Mary and
St. Joseph to be husband and wife, form a family, is a part of how they cooperated in God's mysterious plan of salvation. This is true for us as well.
The family, every family, has a vocation, a calling by God to a task. It is in the family that the
love of God is to be experienced first and that the faith is taught. It is in the family that the love
for God is fostered.
The family is so often described as a domestic church. In Lumen Gentium we are taught that "the
family is, so to speak, the domestic church. In it parents should, by their word and example, be
the first preachers of the faith to their children; they should encourage them in the vocation
which is proper to each of them, fostering with special care vocation to a sacred state" (LG 11).
Spouses help each other and their children to grown in the love of Jesus Christ. Family members help one another to be open to the will of God as it unfolds daily. Family members help
one another to embrace the challenges of life as adventures, responding in a Christian way to
new situations, even the most difficult. In this way family members begin to make the prayer of
Jesus truly their own: "Thy will be done."
May each of our families be these domestic churches. May the love of God be experienced in
our families and may we share that love with all the world.

Jerusalem to be consecrated according to the
law of Moses. A man

Simeon

anointed.
Upon seeing
Jesus, he immediately declared he had witnessed
“the glory of your people of Israel.” The prophetess Anna also gave thanks and spoke of Jesus
to all who would listen. Both recognized the
power of Jesus, although he was still an infant.

he infant Jesus adored at Christmas was,
like each of us, an unborn child who began
and grew in his mother’s womb. God-mademan accepted each and every phase of our humanity to demonstrate the sacredness of human
life at all stages. As we begin our journey toward a new year of pro-life work, let us remember the joy of Mary and Joseph at the birth of
Jesus and their fearless dedication to his life
during all the challenges and dangers they faced
for his sake.

nother Christmas has
come and gone. Carols
have disappeared from the radio, replaced by screaming ads
for after-Christmas sales.
We’re already turning our attention to New
Year’s –where to go, what to wear. It all
moves so fast. It’s hard to find time to stop
and reflect on the past year and the coming
one. Let us not forget to give thanks to God
for the gift of each day; let us try to find the
time to say the things that need to be said, to
forgive and forget, to let the people in our
life know how important they are, to find
and say the words we so often leave unspoken. But most importantly let us not forget
to give thanks to God for His Love.

¡Llegamos al cuarto domingo de adviento!
El fin de semana pasado estuvimos muy ocupados aquí en nuestra parroquia. Además de nuestro calendario usual de eventos, tuvimos el Retiro Espiritual de Adviento, el Obispo Sullivan
vino a instalarme como su Pastor y también tuvimos la celebración de la Virgen de Guadalupe.
Muchas gracias a todos aquellos que ayudaron de una manera u otra con estos eventos. Yo valoro inmensamente todo sus esfuerzos.
El Padre Thomas, que fue el predicador durante el retiro espiritual el sábado pasado dijo que
todos nos sentimos bastante cómodos en la iglesia. Nos sentimos familiarizados con el lugar, la
gente, la música y las partes de la Misa. Sin embargo, ¿Qué tan cómodos nos sentimos fuera de
la iglesia para expresar nuestra fe, aun de una manera pequeña?
Cuando celebremos el Día de Navidad recordemos a María y a San José. Dios les pidió a cada
uno de ellos que salieran de su zona de comodidad: A María, una jovencita virgen, le pidió que
sea la Madre de Dios Encarnado y a San José que cuidara de los dos, Madre e Hijo. Dios les pidió pero no falló en darles la gracia que ellos necesitaban para lograr con lo que les había encomendado.
Así como Dios les dio a María y a José la gracia para cumplir con lo que Dios les había pedido
El hará lo mismo con nosotros. Dios nos dará el consuelo y la fortaleza para que seamos testigos de nuestra fe en todo lo que hagamos. Esto es parte del gran regalo de Navidad: La Gracia de Dios. Ojalá que cuando el día de Navidad abramos los regalos
que hemos recibido, juguemos con ellos, los usemos o luzcamos, podamos hacer
lo mismo con el regalo de gracia que recibimos en la Santa Comunión.
¡Bendiciones de Navidad para todos! Paz y alegría, Fr. Rocks

eñor Jesús: Que viviste en familia con María y José. Hoy quiero pedirte
por mi familia, para que te hagas presente en ella y seas su Señor y Salvador. Bendice a mis seres queridos con tu poder infinito. Protégelos de todo mal y de todo peligro. No permitas que nada ni nadie les haga daño y
dales salud en el cuerpo y en el alma. Te necesitamos, Jesús, entre nosotros.
Llena nuestro hogar de tu paz, de tu alegría, de tu cariño. Derrama tu amor
para que sepamos dialogar, entendernos, ayudarnos, para que aprendamos
a acompañarnos y a sostenernos en el duro camino de la vida. Danos pan y
trabajo. Enséñanos a cuidar lo que tenemos y a compartirlo con los demás.
Tómame a mí como instrumento, Jesús, para que llegue a los míos tu luz y tu poder, para que te conozcan y te amen cada día más. Dame la palabra justa en el momento oportuno, y enséñame lo que
tengo que hacer por ellos en cada momento. También quiero darte gracias, Jesús, por mis seres queridos, por los momentos lindos que pasamos, y por las cosas buenas que tenemos. María, madre
buena, tu presencia también nos hace falta. No nos dejes faltar tu ternura y tu protección. Jesús, José
y María, preciosa comunidad de Nazaret, ayúdennos a vivir en familia. Amén.

Nuestra Gente
n esta ocasión "nuestra gente" es nuestra comunidad que celebró las fiestas de la Guadalupana con gran regocijo, donde la participación de nuestra comunidad hispana se reflejó como una comunidad alegre, trabajadora y sacrificada. Desde las
reuniones preparativas disfrutamos y comenzamos a celebrar; la
organización y venta de boletos para la rifa, con semanas de anterioridad; la preparación de los dos altares dedicados a la Guadalupana, uno en la entrada y el otro al frente de nuestra iglesia;
los nueve días de misas y rosarios y las familias participantes en
ellos; los músicos, tanto nuestro fiel y hermoso coro, como el
mariachi; las personas que arreglaron el salón, moviendo sillas y
mesas, colocando adornos; los donadores de los alimentos y los
servidores; los organizadores; los participantes de la obra teatral
de la Guadalupana; todo esto es Nuestra Gente, nuestra comunidad, hermoso pueblo de Dios, que sabe que trabajar en equipo no siempre es fácil. Colombianos, dominicanos, mexicanos,
argentinos, peruanos, salvadoreños, no importa de dónde, pero
sí que estamos unidos. Pidamos a Dios en la Navidad ya próxima que nos bendiga con unidad y
alegría para nuestras futuras celebraciones. Querida gente nuestra: Feliz Navidad!

“Permaneciendo en silencio ante el Santísimo Sacramento, es a Cristo, total y realmente
