Cathedral Sunday, February 15, 2015 – In an effort to make our Diocesan Cathedral, Sacred Heart, a place for all Davenport Catholics to call home, Bishop Amos has requested a campaign that will enhance the hospitality and welcome for all who attend. There is a great need for more bathrooms, handicap entrances and a place to gather before and after diocesan celebrations. Please support Cathedral Sunday and make our home a welcoming place for all our diocesan and liturgical events! FAITH FORMATION/YOUTH MINISTRY This weekend is "Time and Talent" survey time. We're a little late this year...we were planning on changing the way we do the survey but with my foot issues we just didn't get it done. So we're using our survey that we've used for a few years. Thank you, thank you to all of you who do so much for the parish. It takes many hours to provide all the things (Mass, religious education, meals, projects, classes, visits, etc.) that we do. Maybe we should count up all the hours it take to run the parish for a week. I bet it would give us all a surprise. And we can do all that we do because parishioners like you share your time and energy. But we can always use more help. On our T/T survey generally everyone lists what they currently do. How about adding something this year. The surveys are how we know who to contact for specific projects...for instance...who is a plumber, who likes to cook, who likes to garden and do yard work, and on and on. Can you help with the choir? Can you help out by serving on a commission? Can you help coordinate a fundraiser? Can you help by being an altar server? There's so much to do. And we need your help. Please consider stretching and saying YES! In addition we are also seeking “Refill People” these people help keep ingredients and supplies being used full along with loading the truck at the end of the event. Times can vary. There is no charge to these positions and it would be a great way to get service hours in. Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. It offers a time of quiet and intimacy with our Lord. Join us from 5 to 6 pm for all or part of our time in the sanctuary every Wednesday. • • • The Ascension Press Bible Study of Matthew started up again January 6th and will go until March 24th. We will begin with a review of the Councils of the Church. Did you know that there have been 21 ecumenical (or general) councils of the Church? Each council was called to address some area of faith, usually a problem or a heresy. We'll discuss the various councils, what they addressed, and the significance of the magisterium and the teaching authority of the Church.
