The weather was a lot better that last year so 7 people rode in 23 degree temperature with 2 co-riders on back. What brave souls. We had 30 people show up to start the New Year with a BANG! What a lot of FUN! On January 18 we had our first dinner ride to Don Pablo’s. 8 people showed up. I thought the food a service were very good. Debbie and I have not been there in a while. We also had lots of laughs and a general good time with our friends. Maybe you could think about joining us for the next dinner ride. Why miss the fun? February 5 is our Gathering at the American Legion, 401 North Groesbeck in Mt. Clemens. Starts at 7:30 PM. We have plans to decorate and remember Valentine’s Day. February 5-8 is the Ohio District Cabin Fever. February 13-15 is the Indiana District Winter Rendezvous. February 22 We will have our February Dinner Ride at: Dimitri's, 50875 Gratiot Avenue, New Baltimore, MI 48051 Please call Debbie Kuiper if you plan to attend. Finally “Wingless Weekend” is March 20 to March 21, and the theme is “Sock Hop”. This is always a fun time to spend with your chapter. March 22 will be the officers meeting at the same place as the Wingless Weekend. We will be planning a ride schedule meeting very soon. If you have ideas on where you would like to ride Please let me know. Your staff continues to work hard to find fun things to do, and 2015 will be no different. If you have an idea, please let one of the staff know. This is your membership, and we try very hard to make sure we have events that you can go to, and enjoy. Ride Safe, Ken and Debbie Kuiper, Chapter Directors, Chapter A Chapter A – The Great Lakes Pioneer Chapter Page 3 From Your Chapter Educators - TBD Gold Wing Road Riders Association Rider Ed Program Our World Class Educational Program has many avenues to educate both our motorcycle community and the general driving public. The illustration to the right shows how our program is structured. The GWRRA Rider Education Program (REP) is intended to make the motorcycle riding environment safer by reducing injuries and fatalities and increasing motorcyclist skills and awareness. The REP does not propose to have all the answers. However, our close-working relationship with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), as well as additional GWRRA programs and studies, has provided a wealth of information for use in establishing a comprehensive Rider Education Program. Through Commitment, Education and Application, we can reduce our accident rate significantly. Listed below are several benefits of a fully implemented GWRRA Rider Education Program at the District and Chapter level: Increased rider knowledge Increased rider safety skills Prevention of accidents Reduced injuries Reduced fatalities Improved general public image of motorcyclists Enhanced enjoyment of motorcycle riding Enhanced motorcycle safety through Motorist Awareness public presentations Both the motorcycle and motorist community are already realizing many positive benefits from the GWRRA Rider Education Program. Through the efforts of the Rider Education Officers and volunteers throughout the world, we will reach our goal of establishing the safest motorcycle environment possible.
