Dave & Denise Huffman, Chapter Directors Officers with No Report This Month *Chapter Historian Your Assistant Chapter Directors Greetings from Dan & Nancy, We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m sure we all enjoyed our Christmas dinner last month. We had great weather for the Christmas parade. We had 6 bikes/trikes ride in it. It was in the 60’s during the parade and we all went to Fiesta Mexicana restaurant after the parade for dinner. We are looking forward to another great year and can’t wait to get our Wing back on the road when weather permits. For me that is above freezing and for Nancy, that is a little too cold. This month we continue with our New England trip and are traveling from South Burlington Vermont to Gorham New Hampshire. We woke up to rain early in the morning so did not leave until after 9am. The roads were wet when we started but soon dried out and we rode in the sun to our next destination which was Gorham New Hampshire just north of Mt. Washington. The sun was bright and we decided to go around south of Mt. Washington and come back north through the mountains which was a beautiful ride until about the last 10 miles where we got in to a heavy rain all the way to the motel. This time we were soaked but not nearly as bad as when we were coming back from Spring Fling in 2013. We checked in and the motel had a restaurant on premise so we decided to eat there and their special was Prime Rib which was some of the best I have had in a while. We had reservations for 2 nights so the next morning we headed out for more sightseeing and wanted to ride up to Mt. Washington but they would not let motorcycles on the road because of the wind at the top so we took a tour van up and was really glad we did not ride up because as we neared the top fog and drizzle rolled in and the temp was 37 with 60 mph winds. Mount Washington has the worst weather on earth. The record wind gust was recorded in 1934 as 231 mph. On the way down we got back into the sun and stooped and took some pictures of a double rainbow and were looking down on it. Our guide said this was the best rainbow he had seen while coming down the mountain. We headed back to the motel but stopped a little mom and pop Italian deli and restaurant and had some of the best pizza we have had in a long time. Dan & Nancy Pry, Assistant Chapter Directors Chapter Officers Your Chapter Secretary There was no official gathering in December instead 31 members, 10 guests enjoyed a magnificent dinner where the meat was prepared by Dan & Nancy and everyone brought a covered dish. Check out the monthly calendar and join us for lots of fun and fellowship this year. It was wonderful seeing everyone at the Christmas Gathering! This Gathering highlighted the fun and fellowship we shared this year. 46 members and guests came together and enjoyed a delicious potluck dinner, Wishing you and your family health and happiness in laughed at pictures of members having fun riding their the coming year. bikes, playing corn hole and being in contests (pie eating) at GWRRA rallies. During 2014, our GWRRA Family was there to take care of each other by extending Nancy Pry, Chapter Membership Enhancement Coordinator a helping hand, a listening ear, a laugh or a tear. We shared the good times and not so good times with each other, just like Family. As part of the GWRRA family it’s time to start planning your 2015 calendar. There’s one or more activities Chapter Officers Your Chapter Educator I hope everybody had a great and safe holiday season and I know I did. I have been looking ahead to this coming year and what a busy time it is going to be. I have been in contact with Gary Ballou from B3 and they are planning on having a couple of seminars in the next couple of months within the rider education program. They are also having a couple of blitz's in the next couple of months with seminars from all three divisions. I will be writing about them in my district newsletter. Here are the rider education seminars for B3 on January 3 is Helmet myths, March 7 is riding with new/inexperience riders, and April 11 is a safety Saturday with Going, Going, Gone. The two in January and March is right after their gathering in Obetz. I was planning on putting on the co-rider seminar at our gathering but there is only one member that needs it in 2015. I still might put it on but depends on what rider education seminar are at Cabin Fever. What can we as riders or co-riders do to educate us better in the coming year. The first thing is to take a rider course if we haven't in the past couple of years. The levels program require the member to take a rider course every three years. I am going to try and take a course every two years just to keep my skills fresh. I always improve my rider skills after taking a riding course. GWRRA has the dates and places where they are but won't put the list out till sometime in January if not early February. The member can also take a rider education seminar that they haven't taken before. I am still learning and taking different seminars throughout the year so I can keep up on the latest so I can pass the information on to the members. I will or have sent out emails to members that are in the level program and have expiring rider course in 2015. I will be collecting the money for the medic first aid class any time before the end of Cabin Fever so that I can get the money to the district. The amount is $25 and is made out to GWRRA of Ohio not to the chapter. Thanks and have a safe month.
