PARK-PROUD: Cr Stephen Robinson and Coolum Beach Holiday Park manager Greg Howard are delighted with the results of the
park’s recent upgrade.
BEACH frontage, power, water, Wi-Fi, sealed
internal roads and dog-friendly.
Sounds like an expensive real estate advert,
right? Well, it’s actually the Coolum Beach
Holiday Park!
Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson
said the council-run facility had undergone a
$570,000 upgrade to provide a more pleasant
experience for guests.
“The Coolum Beach Holiday Park averages
around 20,000 caravaners and campers per
year from all over Australia and provides
guests with direct access to the patrolled surf,
making it one of the Sunshine Coast’s most
popular camping and caravan destinations,” Cr
Robinson said.
“These important works have taken the park
to a new level. They include installation of
power, water and sullage points for grey water,
drainage improvements and construction and
sealing of the park’s internal roads.
“This enables the park to better cater for
today’s larger campervans and motorhomes in
all weather conditions.
“Coolum is one of two council-owned, dogfriendly family holiday parks on the Sunshine
Coast. Bringing along your pet on holidays is
now very popular, and guests can contact the
park in advance and apply to have their dog
accompany them during their stay.”
As part of the project, 70 small sites in
premium location closest to the beach which
average 64sqm were converted to 46 larger
sites averaging 100sqm each. The park now
has 218 powered tourist caravan and camping
sites and six villas.
Manager Greg Howard said the upgrades
had greatly improved the park’s functionality
and comfort for guests.
“We’re already situated in one of the most
beautiful locations anywhere in Australia, and
we now offer the best possible caravan and
camping facilities for our guests,” he said.
These upgrades were funded from the
Sunshine Coast Holiday Parks’ capital budget
and are in addition to the replacement and
refurbishment of the three amenity buildings
and a new camp kitchen, all in recent years.

SUNSHINE Coast Mayor Mark
Jamieson has written to Annastacia
Palaszczuk, congratulating her on
her appointment as Queensland
Premier and inviting her to visit the
region for a briefing on key priorities.
Mayor Jamieson said he was
enthusiastic about working with the
Premier and her government to
a d v an c e th e e co n o mi c a n d
community objectives that have
been set for Sunshine Coast.
“In congratulating the Premier, I
advised that as the third largest local
government outside Brisbane, the
Sunshine Coast Council had carved
a clear platform for building
prosperity in this region – with a
strong focus on employment
generation and creating a strong,
resilient and inclusive community,”
Mayor Jamieson said.
“Many of the major projects that we
have planned for the region are
squarely focussed on achieving
those objectives.
“This Council has a balanced focus
on employment and economic
development that produces a real
social dividend – more enduring
employment for our residents,
particularly for our young people
and families; better facilities that
support the needs of our residents as
the region continues to grow; and
greater household incomes so our
residents can continue to enjoy the
enviable lifestyle and our pristine
environment.
“These are objectives that the
Sunshine Coast Council shares with
the government and I have every
confidence that by working together
as a collaborative partnership, we
can achieve great things for the
region and assist Ms Palaszczuk’s
team to deliver on its major policy
commitments for Queensland.
“I am enthusiastic about working
with Ms Palaszczuk’s government to
a d v an c e th e e co n o mi c a n d
community objectives that have
been set for the Sunshine Coast.”
Mayor Jamieson said he had met
with Ms Palaszczuk last year and
was keen to personally update the
Premier on some of the key plans
and priorities for this region.
He hopes the Premier and her
Ministers will regularly visit the
Sunshine Coast.
“I look forward to working with Ms
Palaszczuk and her team,” he said.

UPLIFTING ART: High-profile New York City artist Kelsey, pictured with a finished mural in NYC, is set to
provide the Sunshine with its own set of wings.
IN a first for Queensland, highprofile New York City artist Kelsey
Montague has been commissioned
by Sunshine Coast Council to create
a large interactive art mural for all
the community to enjoy.
Community Programs Portfolio
Councillor Jenny McKay said
Kelsey Montague will visit the
Sunshine Coast on February 28 to
complete the beautiful #whatliftsyou
set artwork of an ornate set of wings.
“When the interactive mural is
complete, the community can obtain
a photo of themselves with a large
pair of beautiful wings - just like
singer Taylor Swift did recently in
New York City.
“This artwork is a great way to let
the world know the arts and culture
scene on the Sunshine Coast is very
much alive.”
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer
said on the day Kelsey is creating
her #whatliftsyou artwork, council
will hold an InstaMeet event from
3pm to 4pm on February 28 to allow
keen Instagrammers, residents and
visitors to collect a range of unique
photos of the Digital Disruption
exhibition in Caloundra Regional
Gallery.
When the Intagrammers arrive at
the Gallery, they will be provided
with a cheat sheet on Instagram
handles and hashtags to use during
the InstaMeet. People will meet
back up at 4pm to upload their
images while Kelsey is completing
the #whatliftsyou artwork magical
angel wings.
“People can obtain photos of a
six-legged, electric, walking,
bubble-blowing robot, absurd and
whimsical machines, animations,
projections and more.
“But if you aren’t a keen
Instagrammer, or don’t even know
what it is, that’s fine, as you can
simply come along and view the
innovative Digital Disruption
exhibition and view Kelsey’s artwork.
“The artwork will pop up across
the Coast at various events and
locations for people to have their
photo and share with their Instagram
and facebook friends and followers.”
New York City artist Kelsey
Montague said #whatliftsyou is a
global campaign and she wants to
see the wings in cities all over the
world.
“I want people to have the
opportunity to join this really cool
online community and share what
inspires them in their life,” she said.
“Most of my social media posts
deal with art woven into the fabric
of a person’s life. That is also why
most of my commissioned work is
on the street. I want people to stop
and ‘step into’ one of my interactive
pieces and become a living work of
art for a moment.
“I want to create community
online. How cool is it to post a
picture within a hashtag that literally
has people from around the world all
talking about the inspiration in their
life. It’s cooler than I could have
dreamed!
“Each wing is unique and the
images within are designed to
represent the city they exist in. In
the Sunshine Coast artwork, I will
fill each set of wings with images
that represent that specific
community.”

Dead bird
Whilst I was walking down the beach on Tuesday (February 10), I
came across this bird in the shallows between Stumers and the
Coolum Lifesaving Club. I think that fishermen should be more
careful in disposing of their fishing equipment if the line
breaks. Two weeks before I found this, I also picked up a pile of
fishing line with hook and sinker attached in the shallows.
This was a dreadful sight and I hope that I do not have to witness
it again. Fishing off the beach should be banned, as this is the type
of thing that could happen - a child or dog (it was on the off-leash
part of the beach) could easily have stepped on the hook. Dog
owners have to pick up their dog’s mess; so should fishermen.
MARG DUMBLE
move from six-monthly to three-monthly accounts, to reduce the
shock value, did nothing to allay costs. Quarterly accounts have
been vastly reduced simply because I, as a single-person
household, like many households, have become creative with
water consumption, which you’ve probably investigated. We
cannot avoid the outlandish daily infrastructure costs for water
and sewerage. Then there’s GST! We are repeatedly paying daily
for old infrastructure, installed long before Unitywater’s creation.
By taking the responsibility out of the hands of local councils, yet
another bureaucracy is benefitting from generous salary packages,
none the least of which is yours! The old system on our council
rates worked. Why fix it if it wasn’t broken, if not a for new
taxing regime and jobs for the boys?

Shipshape conditions?
In the Government’s fleet of ships, the battleship ‘SS Welfare’ has
a new Captain.
The Captains of ‘Team Australia’ and ‘The Budget’ remain.
The tired old crews, after a near mutiny, remain unchanged.
Last century’s navigation equipment and communication signals
are still functioning.
All Captains are hoping for smooth sailing when the hot air fills
their ships’ sails and they steer through the choppy seas ahead.
Mutineers have been subdued for now.
The new Captain of ‘SS Welfare’ has previous experience of
forceful dealings with boats and managing on water matters.
He has promised to be “a strong Welfare services cop”. The ships’
manifestos remain unchanged; ship wrecks have been avoided
(thus far).

Sinking argument
The old adage applies: The pen is mightier than the Soord!
PLeeeeze, Mr Soorley, stop playing the victim!
Send me no more personal letters, pleading your case!
I’ve muddied the waters! But your argument is sinking as fast as
the Titanic. Your comments and public attack are unbecoming
for an executive of your standing. No crocodile tears and defence
mechanisms for Unitywater’s unpopularity! I speak for the
disempowered and disenchanted, drowning in utility debts.
Collecting a very generous Lord Mayor’s superannuation package
from the richest local council in the nation, Brisbane City, your
unconscionable collusion with Anna Bligh over your new
lucrative job opportunity, puts all your loyalties in focus:
collecting even more as CEO, from the blood and sweat of
households and businesses in SE Qld, struggling with the rise and
rise in the cost of living (a gift from Labor; a party with little
fiscal intelligence).
Unitywater was the brainchild of a desperate Anna Bligh,
who drained the coffers, with few options to repay a phenomenal
$1million daily interest on excessive borrowings for white
elephants. It became an uber tax-collecting institution, one
unprecedented in indirect taxing history. Similarly, electricity is
fast becoming the next taxation rort, with its new daily supply
charge! So you were handed a guaranteed $1,000-a-day salary as
CEO of Unitywater, along with your team. The sitting ducks
waded knee-deep in greywater in trepidation.
So the changes began, with rising charges in swift succession:
June 2013, water access at a flat $54.04, sewerage access a flat
$132.93; water consumption $0.538/kL and State government
bulk water at $1.610/kL changed. July 1, 2013, a new charge of
90% water consumption was introduced, classified as greywater/
sewerage, and water was raised to $0.644/kL.
So, by July 2014, water and sewerage (as greywater), along with
the State bulk water charge, made it $3.143/kL. A rise by
September 2014 of 5% water and 13% bulk water, made the total
cost $3.434/kL. Access for water and sewerage had risen to
$2.103 a day. Taking into consideration over a year, access alone
costs everyone over $720, apart from consumption and greywater.
It takes 500 consumers to pay just your daily wage each day.
How’s that paying off the wolf at the State’s door?
Its Labor inventor lost power and deserted the State we’re in.
Unitywater went from strength to strength, increasing
charges periodically. The 90% of consumption classified as
sewerage wasn’t created from facts but assumptions, replacing the
old six-monthly sewerage charge, adding up to very expensive
utility accounts. Fees and charges are simply euphemisms for
taxes. This rose by any other name still smells like sewerage! The

Anyone who can proudly admit that they are pleased with the
performance of this Far Right Regime in Canberra should bury
their heads in shame!
The “good government” saw its leader use the term “jobs
holocaust”, which, in the light of the upcoming decade
anniversaries of the liberation of Nazi Death Camps, is offensive
to any survivors and their descendants.
Secondly, news emerged that Brandis asked Professor Gillian
Triggs to resign before she handed down her report that was
damning of the treatment of asylum-seeker children in detention.
This regime has been marked by gaffes from leaders and attempts
to remove anybody who dares to query their extremist policies!
What was that they said about a leopard not changing its spots?

Runners
It appears to me that E. Rowe and P. Wynn have a great
understanding of what our state and country needs. In regards to
politics and policies, I read their reports on a regular basis, so why
don’t they run in any electorate they can, as it appears they can
run our great country?

Greedy politicians
Clive Palmer appears to have gotten rid of the Newman-led LNP
State Government, and he didn’t even have to win any seat to
achieve his goal.
Newman and his crew blew it with their out-of-touch arrogance
and lost thousands of votes when they took those massive pay
rises.
They had LNP Ministers being paid outrageous base salaries five
times greater than hardworking, fully qualified tradespeople and
up to 10 times greater than basic wage earners.
Politicians tell Joe Average to tighten their belt while they
(politicians and bureaucrats) stick their snouts deeper into
taxpayers’ pockets.
Are Abbott, Hockey & Co. making the same out-of-touch
mistakes at a federal level, and will they be next to be a one-term
government?
Mr and Mrs Joe Average, small business operators, and thousands
of disillusioned voters are becoming extremely disappointed with
all politicians.
Is it any wonder we are now seeing more and more one-term
governments being booted out of office?
Voters need to do this every term until politicians come down to
earth and get in touch with reality.
Say: Bye, bye to snout-in-the-trough and out-of-touch politicians!!

Managing waste
I read in your article (12/2/15) that Noosa Council has appointed a
Community Jury of 24 locals to investigate and recommend new
ways for that council to “reduce and manage organic waste”.
Contrast that with the approach of Sunshine Coast Regional
Council when they recently “consulted” the community on the
minimisation of its rubbish. From the responses I received from
my submissions on this topic, their minds were already made up
on what ratepayers can and can’t have in this region, before
“consultation” began.
1. Kerbside clean-ups. No, no, no - we can’t have that! No
consideration will be given to new ways for this to be costed
and carried out. For example: SC Council joined in the garage
sale trail day, encouraging ratepayers to register their garage
sale on council’s website, then providing would-be buyers with
a map to follow from one garbage sale to the next.
Suggestion: Council organise a similar “footpath freebies”
day. Shock, horror - council disapproves of footpath
“scavenging”. The environmental slogan “Reduce, Recycle,
Reuse” is Reduced by two-thirds when people are not allowed to
display items they no longer want, to be Recycled to others who
could Reuse them. At the end of one week, any leftover items
could be collected on the normal garbage day for each area and
those people (only) charged for that extra pick-up. If you don’t
want to pay, then you can drag your stuff back inside before the
next garbage day.
2. Green-lid bins cost $70 per annum charged to the householder’s
rates bill, so the majority of people opt to not have one. Instead,
they just regularly top up their general waste bin with their
garden rubbish. These people have the advantage of having
their garden waste collected weekly, compared to those who pay
$70pa for theirs to be taken away fortnightly! Then there are the
winter months when foliage doesn’t grow at the pace of the
wetter summer months. I know I don’t put my green bin out
from approximately April to October, but I still pay for its
pickup for all those months. In other words, people who try to
do the right thing are penalised by council.
Suggestion: Treat green bins the same as yellow recycle bins; i.e.
turn it into a cost-neutral business. Give everyone a green bin with
a free fortnightly pick-up, with a resultant huge increase in garden
waste recycled. Hire a large-scale contractor to turn it into an
equally large-scale mulch business. I just got a “can’t be done”
response from Councillor Robinson, who told me he has been
howled down by the other councillors when he raised such
suggestions once before. But I bet someone could run such a
business at a profit, and maybe council could negotiate free mulch
for their huge number of parks and garden for providing the
product to mulch.
As I said, SCRC really does not want to hear better ways to do
things: their minds were made up before this topic went to the
public for comment. Typical SCRC “consultation”: keep the
people who care busy with paperwork rigmarole, then go ahead
and do what has already been decided. Hands up: who’s for
joining Noosa Council?

RTI Revelations
A concerned community group puts in a RTI (Right to
Information) request regarding SC Council’s involvement with the
Sekisui proposal at Yaroomba and, lo and behold, 52,000 pages of
documentation are unearthed! (That’s a pile of paper stacked over
5m high!)
What does this say?
It says Council has squandered untold hours, resources, and
ratepayers’ money on a proposal that should never see the light of
the day … all with the aim that, when this proposal is submitted as
a development application, it can avoid being subject to proper
impact assessment.
I hope Development Watch proceeds with the RTI (in some
capacity) and also looks into consultant fees in the said topic.
ARTHUR WATSON
Nothing in return
Plaudits to the council? Bob Stonehouse can’t be for real. Most
people I know around here want the annual kerbside clean-ups
returned. We pay rates and get nothing in return. As for the visual
and odiferous pollution, ohh pleeaze don’t be so precious.
And, as a personal gripe of mine, why can’t the council raise their
dumb decibel limit so we can have some real music (bands) on
Saturdays and Sundays? Is this really a tourist town or just a
sunny retirement village with a beach?
PS: I have lived in this area for 30 years; I’m not a blow-in.

Trust in police
I am happy to see well-meaning and obviously compassionate
community members acting as liaison between the police and the
community. It is so important to have relationships that can foster
trust and communication when people are at their most vulnerable.
What is it, though, about Queensland police that they can’t do this
themselves? Our police are there to protect us and keep us safe.
Much of that task is accomplished through relationship. What has
gone wrong with our relationship with our police force that has
pre-empted trust and communication?
Is it time to change the culture of the community-police
relationship? How nice would it be to see our police as they are
meant to be - our safety net and our protection?

Boardwalk decline
The wooden boardwalk at the south end of Coolum Beach appears
to be dried out from lack of oiling. I guess, if it deteriorates more,
some timbers might have to be replaced. I suppose the ratepayers
in Coolum won’t mind paying extras on their rates to cover the
extra cost this will probably incur. Hopefully someone else might
be better informed than me on this subject?

HIGH ACHIEVERS: St Andrew’s RSL grant winners, (L-R) Brodie Modini, Gabrielle Emery, Nic Porter,
Isabella Freeman, Campbell Guthrie, Danielle Van Os and Trevor Tunnington.
ST ANDREW’S Anglican College
is celebrating seven of its Year 12
students being awarded the RSL
Youth Development Program grant.
The grant recognises and rewards
the efforts of high-achieving
Queensland students, with 200
Queenslanders being awarded the
grant this year in the categories of
sport, academic and community.
St Andrew’s students Isabella
Freeman, Brodie Modini, Trevor
Tunnington, Nic Porter and
Campbell Guthrie all received grants
through the sport category, whilst
Danielle Van Os and Gabrielle
Emery received their grants in the
academic category.
Danielle Van Os said she will be
using her grant to take part in the
Gap Medics program in Poland,
where she will spend two weeks
shadowing medics in Warsaw
gaining invaluable pre-health
education from European medical
professionals as they diagnose and
treat patients.
“Taking part in the Gap Medics
program will give me knowledge
about the medical field before I start
university, as well as give me an
understanding of global health
development which will help me in
my studies and ultimately how I
serve the community in the future.”
Fellow student Gabrielle Emery
will spend two weeks in July taking
part in the World Championships of
Performing Arts in Hollywood,
dubbed as the ultimate, international
Olympic-style competition for
performing artists.
“Spending two weeks competing
in the World Championships of
Performing Arts will give me the
opportunity to build on what I am
learning at St Andrew’s, but also to
learn more about the international
scene and bring that knowledge back
to the College,” said Gabrielle.
The RSL Youth Development
Program is offered through Bond
University, and is awarded to
students for academic and sporting
achievements as well as community
leadership. To find out more, visit
the Bond University website.

Register for the locally held Relay For Life
WITH a date set for the 2015
Northern Sunshine Coast Relay For
Life, organisers are preparing to
raise the bar in the fight against
cancer and encourage the
community to join them.
Team registrations are now open
for Cancer Council Queensland’s
new Northern Sunshine Coast Relay
For Life, set to be held October 3-4
at Coolum Football Club.
Relay For Life is an 18-hour event
involving teams of up to 15 people
keeping a baton moving in a relaystyle walk or run overnight, in
support of the one in two
Queenslanders diagnosed with
cancer in their lifetime.
More than 300 participants are
expected to take part and walk to
give hope for cancer survivors, hope
for those who have lost loved ones,
and hope for a cancer-free future.
Cancer Council Queensland Relay
For Life Coordinator, Tom Turner,
encouraged locals to unite in the fight
and get behind the inspirational event.
“Each year the community bands
together to fight back against cancer,
and we are calling on locals to come
together again in 2015, to show their
support and strength for
Queenslanders impacted by the
disease,” Mr Turner said.
“Community action truly makes a
difference - 2014 Queensland Relay
For Life events raised more than
$4.2 million for vital cancer
research, prevention programs and
patient support services.
“There are so many great ways to
get involved in Relay For Life in
2015, from joining the committee, to
registering a team, or even
volunteering for a few hours - all
you need is a bit of spare time and
plenty of enthusiasm!
“Getting involved might only
seem like a small way to make an
impact, but your contribution makes
a lasting difference to locals touched
by the disease.”
Entry for Relay For Life is just
$15 for Under 18s and $20 for
adults, which includes a polo shirt
and breakfast at the event.

Council warns:
Please don’t tamper with turtle nests
HATCHING EMERGENCE: With numerous hatchlings yet to emerge on Sunshine Coast beaches, it’s
important that turtle nests be left alone. Photo courtesy: Dot Crane
.FOLLOWING three incidences of
turtle nest tampering this week,
Council is urging residents to please
leave the mesh covering turtle nests
alone - it is essential in protecting
nests from foxes.
Environment Portfolio Councillor
Jenny McKay said there are still
around 35 nests to emerge on Coast
beaches.
“The mesh is pegged down and
tagged with a TurtleCare label and
phone number, so we’re unsure why
people are removing it,” Cr McKay
said.
“The construction mesh prevents
predation by foxes and dogs, while
still allowing hatchlings to emerge
naturally. The mesh is of a sufficient
gauge that hatchlings can emerge
easily.
“There are only 500 nesting
females in eastern Australia and the
Sunshine Coast population continues
to be vital to the long-term survival
of this species.
“One of the biggest threats to
loggerhead hatchlings is the
introduced European red fox and, to
a lesser extent, from unrestrained
dogs on nesting beaches.”
It’s important that members of the
public do not dig into turtle nests,
and allow hatchlings to naturally
emerge.
If you see anyone tampering with
a turtle nest, please report it to
Council’s TurtleCare on 0437 559
067.

ISABELLA Nichols, of Coolum Beach,
is certainly a surfing star on the rise,
having snatched her first-ever World
Surf League (WSL) Junior Tour event
win over Avoca’s Macy Callaghan in
spectacular fashion, posting a nearperfect 19.47 (out of a possible 20).
Nichols was also one of the standouts
in the women’s QS6000 division,
putting her sharp and precise brand of
surfing to work at Manly Beach during
a massive day of competition at the
Hurley Australian Open of Surfing on
Wednesday, February 11.
“It’s great to win a WSL event even
though it’s a Pro Junior,” said Nichols.
“To take a win at this level is special to
me.”
Noosa’s Harry Bryant came close in
his first-ever WSL Junior Tour final,
fighting hard through a tough field of
talented surfers but unable to match
California’s Kanoa Igarashi in the final.
“I’m really stoked to make the final it’s a great way to start my year,”
Bryant said.
“It’s hard to make the final and be
that close to a win and not get it, but
I’m not thinking about that too much I’m too happy right now.”

COOLUM HOOKERS FISHING CLUB
Welcome to all our new members. Fish of the
Month for February is mackerel/trevally, and
our comp is this weekend, February 21, 22 and
23. Our weigh-in and BBQ is on Sunday the 23rd
at the Coolum footy ground. All members are
welcome, so come along for a catch-up.
Our camp for the month of March is coming up
quickly. If you’re interested to go, please email
myself at [email protected] or contact Greg
or Di Hastings on 5446 2708. We need to start
taking bookings ASAP.
Good luck and Happy Fishing, everyone!
COOLUM BOARDRIDERS
We will run our first round of the year on Sunday,
February 22. Meet at the clubhouse at 6.30am.
All surfers will have to be signed up to compete.
Registration is done through the Surfing
Queensland website - follow the links and the
code required is 4573. More info with age
divisions etc is up on the club Facebook page.
The Club AGM will also run on the Sunday
afternoon before presentations, with several
positions we hope to fill.
Congratulations to Isabella Nichols on her
dominating win at the Hurly Australian Women’s
Pro Junior. Isabella gave a competitive display far
beyond her years, reinforcing what we have
known for years. Noosa’s Harry Bryant made the
final two in the Men’s Pro Junior, but could not

find the waves in the final. A great result for Sunny
Coast surfers.
Congratulations to Simon Knox, now based on the
Goldy, with a second-place finish at the Wandiyali
Indiginous Classic at Newcastle.
See everyone down there on the 22nd, but
remember you must be financial to compete.
2015 sponsorship options are open for the year.
Anyone interested should get in touch with a
committee member.
COOLUM TENNIS
Following our first meeting with our new
committee, the Coolum Tennis Club had a working
bee on Saturday morning. Adam had already put
up the new noticeboard. As well as being able to
write up fixture and tournament matches, we will
now have a list of jobs that need doing. As a
suggestion from a member, jobs will be written up,
and any tennis player who has the time and
expertise can complete the job. This will lighten
the load for the few willing workers who have
been carrying the load, and involve more
members.
I would like to thank Doug Bosworth, Leon
Nguyen, Henry Plint, Des and Annette Adsett,
Noelene Cook, Arvid, Ian White, Joy Denton, Kerry
Glover and the junior parent helpers, Trish Mc
Waters and Rachael Willis. Thanks to these very
hard workers, we removed three large trailer loads
of garden rubbish as well as filling some bins. We
have never achieved so much at a working bee
before. Thanks again to the workers.
At our committee meeting, we welcomed three
new members, Leon Nguyen, Emma Wagstaff and
John Gallagher. They are invaluable for fresh input
into growing our club. By the time you read this,
we should have new lights installed on the hard
courts ready for the new-format night fixtures. Let
me remind you that there will be play on Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. The
format will suit social players as well on both
Monday and Thursday nights. If you are interested
in joining in the nighttime tennis, please ring
Adam on 0400 214 419 for more details. There is
a notice at the Clubhouse giving details of formats
and prices. This can be emailed out to you on
request at [email protected] .
Our other upcoming projects are a new computer
system, a sandpit and a meeting room. All
projects have been given the go-ahead and should
be happening very soon.
It was great to see the juniors back. Because the
Noosa District does not start fixtures until next
term, Andrew, with the help of Adam and Kurt, is
running in-house fixtures for juniors on Friday
night and Saturday morning. If you are interested,
please ring Andrew on 0421 391 505.
We are looking forward to a great year of tennis
and we would especially like to welcome all our
new members.
