The Lakeland Centre for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder is seeking a support worker to assist
a complicated and challenging individual with
FASD in Lac La Biche. The position will include a
creative approach to client engagement, community
advocacy, community participation, and support
to the family. This position is a full time one-year
term position with flexible hours to accommodate
activities. Competitive salary and benefits. Training
in Human Services would be an asset but not
required.
SUPPORT HOME
The Lakeland Centre for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder is looking for a support home for a
young man with FASD who has complicated
behavior. It would be best to have a separate
but supervised suite in a family home with no
children but would require a male role model.
Responsibilities would be to provide living quarters,
some Life Skills training and medication monitoring.

This is a full time position working 24 hours per day one on one in a residential setting
in a 4 on 4 off rotation. Your communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
will be critical as you interact daily with clients, guardians, community associations
and service providers to identify and address the needs of individuals with complex
behavioral support needs. You will be required to work closely with team members,
the service provider and family to understand and work with any underlying behavioral
issues for this individual, and focus on ways to reduce issues that are highly charged
and difficult to resolve. Along with your team members, you will provide in home support
and work with established strategies to effectively deal with behavioral concerns.
Activities will include supporting the support/program plans to achieve appropriate
service delivery options and strategies to maintain the complex needs individual in
community placement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting the individual to build greater independence and ensuring a variety of
opportunities are available.
• Ensure accurate completion of agency documentation.
• Support the individual to participate meaningfully in community activities that they
are interested in and connect with other people who share those interests.
• Ensure the individual is treated with dignity and respect.
• Assist the individual with building relationships with community members.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure individual goals and outcomes are met.
• Ensure the individual has the opportunity to make decisions and choices within all
aspects of daily living activities.
• Provide opportunities for the individual to enhance their personal development and
learn skills that are important to them.
Key Qualities:
• Belief and commitment to inclusion and the right for all people to belong, participate,
and contribute to the community.
• Experience supporting an adult with a developmental disability.

Qualifications
• A diploma in disability services or related education.
• A minimum of 2 years work experience in the human services field.
• Experience including, but not limited to, medication administration, financial/
