With that in mind, I have come across a few laundry soap recipes that let you do exactly that, save. The recipes vary and there are suggestions as to what you can do to replace ingredients if you do not have them. The ingredients are all natural and you can add your own unique fragrance to them. I have been using the one below and it works even on cloth diapers: 2 Gallons Water (hot) 1 Bar Soap (grated) 2 Cups Baking Soda (yes baking soda this time–not washing soda) • • • • Melt grated soap in a saucepan with enough hot water to cover. Cook on mediumlow heat, stirring frequently until soap is melted. In a large pail, pour 2 gallons hot water. Add melted soap, stir well. Then add the baking soda, stir well again. Use 1/2 cup per full load, 1 cup per very soiled load. Most of the recipes make a big batch so you can use half of the recipe or share it with family, friends and neighbors. What better way to start a conversation then to introduce your loved ones to the ways in which you have been cutting cost in your home? We are all trying to cut down our bills, whether rich or poor, upper class or middle class. Our society consists more of consumers than producers. As the saying goes, "the male who does not plant his food will starve." Let us try to do more, not only for our future, but also for our environment. Looking forward to your comments.
