LEE’S SUMMIT R-7 Gator Swim Team Summer 2015 Are you ready for another year of summer swimming? We are excited to offer this opportunity to all school age kids in the Kansas City area. The Gators Swim Team is dedicated to providing quality recreational swimming while promoting the values of good sportsmanship and fair play – all in a fun and safe environment. Ages: Our league is for swimmers from 1st grade through 12th grade (Fall 2014). The league combines boys/girls and divides all events by age. The age groups are 8 and under, 9 &10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, 15 and over. Requirement: All participants must have passed American Red Cross Level 4 or be able to do the front and back crawl for 25 yards and have knowledge of the breaststroke. Fee: $140.00 includes the following: swim cap, team picture, ribbons, league t-shirt and individual participation medal. There will be an additional $10 for each participating swimmer, for the Championship entry fee. Deadline: The league guarantees placement of the first 110 swimmers with registrations received by May 27, 2015. Late registration requires an additional $15.00 per swimmer. Refunds: There will be NO REFUNDS once payment has been received. We will issue a prorated credit for future Aquatic Center use. No refunds will be given. Practice: Begins Monday, June 2nd. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the LS R-7 Aquatic Center. Ages 10 and under will practice from 6:00p – 7:15p and ages 11 and over will practice from 7:15p – 8:30p. If you are unable to make practice, please contact the League Head Coach (Shelly Pollock) Swimsuit: We will have try-on suits available at the registration on May 3. We will be ordering black racing suits. Timers: Timers will verify start and end times of swimmers. One timer is needed for each lane. Back up Timers: Back up timers will verify times if needed or provide a break. Stroke & Turn Judge: We will provide training for Stroke & Turn judges. Training will take place on a league practice night. The time and date is to be determined. We have to have at least 4 for every meet. Clerk of the Course: Ensures all swimmers are aware of their scheduled events prior to the meet and arrive at the zoo when their event is called. Starter/Announcer: The starter starts the events/races. The announcer calls for swimmers in next event, and helps the meet stay on time. Awards Table: Assists in handing out ribbons and awards to swimmers. Zookeeper: Puts swimmers in order by heat and event and ensures they are ready to swim. Runners: Takes kids from zoo to staging area, then to blocks. Place Judges: Judges 1 – 3rd places. Puts kids in order according to finishing position.
