BioValue’s project 6 working on converting lignin into high value chemicals has reached a significant milestone, and invites you to come to: Inauguration of the Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) pilot plant. Friday, May 22, 2015 from 12-16 o’clock in building L 38 at AU Foulum. The new plant can liquefy biomass to produce bio-oil for substitution of fossil fuels and chemicals. The plant is part of the BioBase program – biorefinery and bio-production by Aarhus University – but is also available for BioValue partners for test on lignin conversions and product stream processing. The program for the inauguration offers lunch, 3 short lectures on i) conversion of wet biomass to liquid fuel, ii) extraction of proteins from green biomass, iii) and biology and technology for green biomass, and networking opportunities within BioBase, BioCluster and BioValue. Pathfinder-projects: A pathfinder project is an exploratory project that focuses on innovation opportunities. May 2015 No. 18 A Meeting on the Bio-Based Industries Monday 27.04.2015: Ålborg University hosted an information meeting about the EU Program Biobased Industries, BBI. The BBI workprogram is centered around 5 VALUE-chains and a set of Innovation Actions, including the socalled Flagship Actions (Call 1), but also in later calls including Research & Innovation and Demonstration actions. The five value-chains of BBI are: • Value-chain 1 - From lignocellulosic feedstock to advanced biofuels, bio-based chemicals and biomaterials • Value-chain 2 - The next generation forest-based value chains • Value-chain 3 - The next generation agro-based value chains • Value-chain 4 - Emergence of new value chains from (organic) waste • Value-chain 5 - The integrated energy, pulp and chemicals biorefineries The information meeting clearly affirmed that there are significant opportunities for Danish Enterprises and Public Organisations (Universities) to participate in the BBI Program. At the meeting BioValue was presented as a possible Portal for Danish participation.
