Role Purpose:
To coordinate the entry and verification of all information data, including bus timetable information,
fares and geographic Network data on behalf of Centro, the wider West Midlands area authorities and
operators for use across a range of printed, digital and real-time information systems both internally
and for external data feeds.
Accountabilities (Deliverables):
 To input data received electronically and manually for multi modal service registration changes for
the Centro region into DIVA and perform a defined range of quality checks to ensure
completeness and accuracy.
 Maintain and improve the accuracy of NaPTAN, route tracking and other transport data sets within
the West Midlands for local and national use.
 To work closely with the West Midlands Shire local authorities to ensure complete dataset for the
whole West Midlands region is available and is up to date and accurate.
 To ensure that data build processes required for journey planning and transfer to national data
sets are undertaken.
 To create real time data builds or data exports as required by downstream systems.
 Maintain the fares database and any other travel information databases that are developed.
Responsibilities (Duties):
 Prioritise and progress the validation and entry of automated (TransXchange/ATCO-CIF) and
manual data entry of multi-modal, multi operator timetables.
 Proactively manage the accuracy and timeliness of registration information through close liaison
with Centro Area Managers and operators.
 Analyse and interpret registrations and other supporting information as appropriate, compiling and
updating tendered and commercial timetable information for DIVA.
 Create the RTI database and provide to supplier in a timely manner to allow reconfigurations to
occur at NSP dates and at the request (where agreed) of Operators.
 Using a timetable scheduling tool validate the pre-import state of all electronic registrations and
information received from the Shires before the final input into DIVA.
 Carry out defined quality audits and control processes on all data sets.
 Proactively solve problems with data and seek to fill gaps where they exist by requesting updates
from third parties such as bus operators.
 Assist development teams with testing new technologies and upgrades to existing systems.
 Liaise with Shire districts on the ownership and data entry of cross boundary bus services and
advise where there are issues found and potential resolutions with the data they have provided.
 To manage any DIVA system issues, raise improvements and data errors in SAP, monitoring the
responses to agreed SLA’s to ensure a swift resolution is reached.
 To maintain the stop register for the West Midlands using DIVA, and monitor the weekly upload of
the data to the national dataset on behalf of the DfT.
 To update and maintain node links (DIVA Geo/OSM) and ensure other geographic information is
kept up to date for the requirements of the National Passenger Transport Gazetteer.
 Use nationally available data quality checking tools (such as ITO) on a regular basis to correct and
improve data and provide a report as to what changes have been made or reasons as to why
changes are not felt necessary.
 To represent Centro at the West Midlands Traveline data providers meetings and MDV liaison
meetings when the Information Integrity Specialist is unable to attend.
 Work closely with ICT teams to ensure that all input and output data feeds are operational.
 Work closely with Digital Marketing & Information teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure
that the data stored and exported to their systems is fit for purpose.
 Seek to update and continuously improve the quality checking system as any new issues or data
requirements are identified.
 Responsible for responding to and investigating customer relations queries relating to data quality
in a timely manner.
 To be responsible for Health & Safety and Training & Development as detailed in the appropriate
Centro policies.

Qualifications:

 Educated to Degree level. Would particularly suit a recent graduate in a relevant discipline

 Experience of handling large volumes of data.
 Experience of creating quality control systems is desirable but experience of carrying out quality
checking processes is essential.
 Use of mapping software is desirable.
 Experience of a wide range of data related IT products such as spreadsheets, databases is
essential.
 Knowledge of other IT products such as SQL, XML schema and word processing is desirable.
 Knowledge of public transport operations desirable.
 Knowledge of radio and paging communications.
 Knowledge of national standards such as TransXchange and NaPTAN is desirable.
 An understanding and appreciation of electronic systems.
