Fifth Sunday of Easter Congratulations to the over 180 young people

CHRIST THE GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
SPRING, TEXAS
Fifth Sunday of Easter
Congratulations to the over 180 young people who
received their First Communion on Saturday at 10:30
a.m. They and their families have all been working very
hard over the past several months and we are excited for
them. I would like to add, however, that this is the First
Communion—not the last!
Parents, at your children’s baptism, you made a solemn
oath to instruct your children in the faith and I know that
you all work hard to fulfill that oath. But I want to gently
remind you that since their baptism, the children have a
right to their faith and it is up to the adults in their life to
model the faith as well as chauffer them to and from
church for religious education sessions and most
importantly holy Mass.
The month of May has been traditionally held as a month
when we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. I would invite
everyone to consider the possibility of praying the holy
rosary. This can certainly be done privately, but would be
wonderful if families prayed it together or in other groups.
Remember that the rosary is a way of meditation on some
of the mysteries of, for the most part, the life of Jesus.
There are four sets of mysteries.
The Joyful Mysteries (Mondays and Saturdays) center on
the Annunciation of Gabriel to Mary, the Visitation of
Mary with Elizabeth, The Nativity or birth of Jesus, the
Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and finally the finding
of the child, Jesus, in the Temple at the age of 12 or so.
The Luminous Mysteries or Mysteries of Light
(Thursdays) including the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan,
the Wedding at Cana, the proclamation of the Kingdom of
God by Jesus, the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mt. Tabor,
and the Institution of the Eucharist.
The Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday and Fridays)
including the Agony in the Garden, the scourging of Jesus,
the crowning with thorns, the carrying of the cross and the
crucifixion.
The Last set of mysteries are the Glorious Mysteries
(Wednesdays and Sundays) including the Resurrection of
Jesus, the Ascension of Jesus, the descent of the Holy
Spirit, the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the
coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of heaven.
Finally I would like to urge everyone to fill out a survey
so that you can have input on the Master Plan that we are
beginning to work on for the parish. We are asking for what
is working well now and what needs to be improved.
We are inviting everyone to dream about what the
future would look like for our parish. The survey is
one per person and we would like as many people to
participate as possible. You can download a survey
from our parish web site (www.cgsccdogh.org) or
pick one up at the reception desk. Thank you!
Christ the Good Shepherd come to our aid.

As our Blessed Mother brings us
to her Son Jesus, it is our task also to
bring others to the Lord. Is there
someone you can invite to explore
the Catholic Faith - someone unbaptized or baptized in
a non-Catholic Christian tradition? Perhaps you know a
Catholic adult interested in being confirmed. Call:
Sylvia Wood 281-376-6831 ext. 342
confirmado. Comunícate con.
