We are very excited about our Spring Recital. Our students, teachers and staff are working very hard to ensure a successful performance. Our goal is to make this recital a fun learning experience for the dancers where they can showcase all of the accomplishments they have made over the past year. We are so proud of our dancers and we thank you for allowing us to teach them!
Overview

Rehearsal Tips
Your specific rehearsal and recital times are included in this
packet. Both the rehearsal and the recital will start on time,
so, as a general rule, plan on being at Pickens High School
at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled rehearsal time
and 30 minutes prior to the recital.
Preparation Tips

Over the next few weeks, please take the time to discuss
stage fright with your child. We want them to be as relaxed
and confident as possible so they can enjoy their
performance.

Label everything with your child’s first and last name.
(shoes, bags, costumes, everything!)

If your dancer is in more than one dance, we strongly
recommend one bag with your child’s name on it for all
their costume needs (dance shoes & accessories ONLY, no
toys or food, due to allergies). Otherwise, your child
shouldn’t bring anything backstage.

Do not wear panties with the costume. Both tights and
costumes have a built in lining.

All dancers should wear their dance shoes into the green
room; any street shoes should be left with the parents.

Tights must be in excellent condition for the recital. You
can purchase your dancer’s fresh tights at the studio. We
cannot guarantee your recital tights will be available at
the studio if you do not purchase them before March
26th. Also, keep in mind that recital pictures are Saturday,
April 25th.

Please plant to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled
rehearsal time and 30 minutes prior to the recital.
Hair/Makeup/Costume
 Girl’s hair should be in a clean high bun (secure high ponytail
for jazz & hip hop dances), no makeup.
 Come to rehearsal in your costume. If you are in more than
one class, please bring your additional costumes, and change
in the lobby bathroom (including your hair if necessary).
Photos/Videos
You are permitted to take pictures and videos during rehearsal,
while the audience lights are up. For the safety of your dancer,
Pickens High School will not permit you to video or photograph
during the actual Recital. We have a DVD of the show available
for purchase at the studio or in the lobby at the recital.
Sequence of Events
 Arrive on time for your rehearsal. We must start each
session on time! Please allow for school traffic.
 Do not drop your child off and leave rehearsal. Sit with your
child/class in the audience. Each class section will be clearly
labeled.
 Follow the signs to the theater’s entrance (not the main school
entrance).
 No food/drinks are allowed in auditorium.
Recital Tips
Hair/Makeup/Costume

Arrive at auditorium in costume with your hair in a clean high
bun (or secure high ponytail for jazz & hip hop dances) and
stage makeup done.
 If your child is in more than one class, drop off their
additional costumes at the “dancer drop off” table with your
dancer. Our staff will make sure they get into their 2nd correct
costume.
 Girl dancers should wear blush, burgundy lipstick, body
glitter, etc. Makeup should be applied AT HOME. No makeup
necessary for our boys.
Photos/Videos
For the safety of the dancers, Pickens High School strictly
prohibits flash photography and video during the
performance.
Sequence of Events
 Check-in for your dancer will be 30 minutes prior to the show.
The dancer drop off area will be marked. Dancers will be
taken to the “green room”.
 Theater doors will open for audience 30-45 minutes prior to
show time.
 Non-messy allergy approved snack/water and fun activities
will be available for your dancer while they are back stage in
the “green room”.
 After grand finale bow, please remain seated until parents are
called out into the lobby to pick up the dancers.
 No parents will be permitted back stage after performance
or during intermission. Your dancer and their belongings
will be in the lobby after the performance.
