Presents Wings Friday, May 22nd at 7:00 PM Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM Dear Parents, Thank you so much for your support throughout the past year. Your continuing cooperation and understanding will be essential to the success of our recital. Each year we aim to give our audience a high quality professional show. Please read the following recital packet carefully. In order for our rehearsal and recital to run smoothly it is important that everyone be familiar with our policies and procedures. Most of your questions will be answered in this packet, but if you have questions AFTER reading this, please do not hesitate to ask. Recital can be very overwhelming, especially to new dancers and their parents. If we all work together it will be a positive experience and a terrific show! COMBINED CLASSES We will have combined classes as it gets closer to recital. We use this time to work on the finale, combined dance numbers and to perfect all dances. It’s also a great way for the dancers to get used to performing in front of other people. These extra classes also count towards any make-up classes that are needed. Please make sure your dancer is at all practices as they are very important this close to recital. Within the next week we will send out a schedule for classes for the rest of the year. Please pay close attention to the times and dates your child’s classes will be held. There will be time and day changes for most classes and some may practice more than once in a week. DRESS REHEARSAL Rehearsal will be Wednesday, May 20th at 4:30 at the Cowley College Brown Center. Participation in the dress rehearsal is MANDATORY. Any absences need to be cleared with Miss Terri or Miss Jennifer in advance. We will start with the finale. All dancers needs to arrive wearing their black Ark City Dance shirt and booty short (or black shirt and shorts for the boys) Please bring all other costumes, accessories and shoes with you. Make sure all items have your name in them. Parents are allowed to take pictures and record at rehearsal only. There is no recording allowed during the actual recital. We will go through all of the routines, and awards will also be handed out. Parents should plan on staying with your child to help them with costume changes. After your child has performed all of their dances they are free to go. Please remember that there is absolutely NO FOOD or DRINKS allowed in the auditorium. Please be respectful of the college and their rules so that we will continue to be able to use their beautiful facility! RECITAL PERFORMANCE ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL Dancers should arrive ,dressed and ready for their first performance , at the Brown Center at least 15 minutes prior to show time. If you have a dancer in a combo class, please do not bring them any earlier than this as they get very restless. (also please take the little ones to the restroom before you drop them off ) Dancers are required to perform in both performances! Dancers are to remain in the Wright Room until it is time for them to perform. (no dancers are allowed in the auditorium during the recital) We usually try to have a live feed so they can watch the show. After the finale, we will take all of the combo classes back to the Wright Room. Please designate ONE female family member to retrieve your dancer, it gets too crowded when we have whole families trying to get into the Wright Room. ACCOUNTS All accounts must be paid in full by May 15th. Dancers will not be allowed to perform in the recital if there is a balance due. We will not accept payments at the rehearsal or the recital. If your account is not paid in full by May 15th, there will be no need for your dancer to attend rehearsal. DRESSING ROOM MOMS We must have at least 1 , preferably 2, moms backstage for each class. Sorry, no dads due to girls changing. You will be responsible for supervising your class and helping them get lined up for their routines. You will be able to follow them and watch your child perform from backstage. We do have two shows, so if you can volunteer for one that is a huge help. RECITAL BOUQUETS This year we are offering something new. We are selling pre-made recital bouquets that you will be able to pick up at the Brown Center 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. These are being sold as a fundraiser to help our dancers that will be going to New York city to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. More information will be sent out on these with the order form at a later date. Also, please remember that flowers can not be given to your dancer while they are on stage. If you wish to give your child flowers or gifts, please give those in the foyer after the show! COSTUMES As soon as you receive your costume, please try it on your dancer and make sure it fits. Let us know immediately if there are any problems. Please mark all pieces of your dancers costume with their name. If any part of the costume gets misplaced (and we always find costume pieces laying around after rehearsal) we need to know who to return them to! TIGHTS If your child is in ballet, then they must wear pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Otherwise the tights we prefer are the Light Toast tights that are available at Special Threads here in Ark City. If you child is in a Combo Class they can either wear tights or go bare-legged. (Please remember no panties under costumes) HAIR For ballet the girls must have their hair in a bun. For all other classes, we do not have a specific hairstyle that we require the girls to wear. We do ask that you have their hair pulled back our of their face. If they have any hair accessories that are part of their costume, please make sure they are secured with bobby pins. MAKEUP We ask that all female dancers wear makeup to the recital as stage lights can really wash out their faces. We would prefer eye shadow, eye liner, blush, mascara and lipstick. It’s sometimes hard to get makeup on the little ones, so at the least, please try to get blush and lipstick on them. SHOES Make sure you have all of your all of your shoes with you and they all have your name in them. You must have pink ballet shoes for ballet routines. For combo classes they need black tap shoes and black jazz shoes. All other jazz classes need to be tan jazz shoes. All other tap classes need black tap shoes. Are you interested in your child (ages 3 and up) becoming a member of our competitive dance company? We will have two meeting times for you to choose from. You must attend one of these. If you are unable to attend you must speak with Terri or Jennifer. Wednesday, April 15th @7:15 or Thursday, April 16th @ 6:30. SUMMER CLASSES We will have two themed weeks for ages 3-8 this year.
