CHAMPION 2015
SHOW PREPARATION2010-2011 SEASON
Recital Choreography
All recital choreography will begin the week of January 5th. Students focus September-December on learning new skills, in class
combinations & of course, repetition of previously learned skill sets
in preparation for their recital material. All classes will continue the
routine of warm up, across the floor and weekly in class challenges. The final minutes of class, or for combination classes, 1/2
hour, will be set aside for learning the recital routine. All students
are invited to participate, even if they will not be performing the
routine on stage. Retaining and rehearsing choreography for a
routine is a wonderful way to exercise the mind and body.
Home Study
To ensure the students feel confident about their performances,
we ask parents and guardians to encourage them to rehearse their
recital choreography on a regular basis. Returning to class each
week, rehearsed and ready allows the choreographer the opportunity to move forward with the material in a timely manner without
having to “re-teach” the steps from the week prior. This practice
will also allow students to absorb the choreography over the week
and return equipped with questions and an excitement about the
upcoming class.
Recital
Sutton High School Auditorium
Sunday, May 31st
11:00 & 4:00
 Finale
All students are required to participate in the finale, which will be
rehearsed in class and at dress rehearsal. All students must remain in their last performance costume or may choose to wear
their JAWS recital t-shirt over that costume for the finale.
 Dressing-room Etiquette
Students must respect other students’ space and property in the
dressing rooms. Many of the students will spend more time in the
dressing rooms than onstage, so please do your best to keep them
organized and clean.
Backstage
All Princess Dance students may return to the auditorium with their
parents after their routine. A designated pick up spot in the auditorium will be announced at dress rehearsal. All other students are
required to wait backstage in the seating area equipped with volunteers. Family members and friends do not belong backstage or in
the dressing rooms during recital. The same applies during intermission and after the show. There is a lot of backstage activity in
a limited space, and dressing rooms are a private area. Please remind your family and guests to be respectful of these areas.
Those who wish to greet a performer after the show or present
flowers should do so in the lobby areas.
Recital Tickets
Tutu tickets will again be handling all ticket sales. An email regarding dates, times, pricing and process will be made available in
March.

Costumes
Hair & Makeup
We spend many hours determining the correct costumes for each
class. They are always age-appropriate and of the highest quality
possible.
Female students are required to wear makeup for the recital; red lipstick,
blush, eye shadow (not blue), false eyelashes and eyeliner. Female preschool & Princess students need only wear blush, lipstick and a little mascara. For the boys, a little blush on the cheeks and Vaseline on the
lashes works well. For fair skinned boys...darkening the brows helps define the face under stage lighting.
Uniform hairstyles are required. An email specifying the hairstyle for each
routine will be sent before dress rehearsal.
