Board of Directors, One World Arts: Fundraising and Financial Sustainability Post date: April 2015 Position: Fundraising and Financial Sustainability Employment Type: Volunteer Organisational mandate: Founded in 1972, One World Arts is a volunteer-based, charitable organization working to create awareness on world issues. With a focus on the media and performing arts, our programs are designed to engage citizens of all ages. It is our conviction that education through the arts is the most powerful and effective method of public engagement. Learn more about the organization at www.oneworldarts.ca Roles and Responsibilities: Assume a lead role in developing a plan for fundraising, partnerships, and sponsorships based on the short-term and long-term funding needs of One World Arts and One World Films. This plan, while subject to ongoing development, will be aimed at securing financial sustainability for One World Arts and the One World Film Festival Identify sources of funds and/or donations Identify and liaise with funding officers from major funders, current and potential Work in partnership with, and monitor the progress and effectiveness of, fundraising efforts on the part of the One World Film Festival Committee Ensure an effective calendar to track yearly grants and donations Compile documentation for grant applications, oversee and liaise with hired grant writers, and manage timelines to meet application deadlines Regularly review the fundraising plan ensure progress toward the fundraising goals The board member or members for fundraising and financial sustainability will work with and be supported by volunteers in the Partnerships and Sponsorship area of the One World Film Festival Organizing Committee. Board members for One World Arts are expected to: Support the organization’s mission and mandate Attend regular meetings (monthly or bi-weekly as required) of the OWA Board of Directors Actively promote the organization in the community The time commitment is approximately 10-15 hours per month.
