Welcome to the message series discussion. Hearing the message on the weekend is great, but talking through the message during the week can help you turn what God is saying to you into action steps. We are designed to be connected. We hope this discussion will help you grow in your faith in Christ and help connect you to others in your group. QUESTIONS Let’s look at Nehemiah 9:1-15 to get an idea of where the people found themselves: 1) Think back over last week’s sermon. Maybe you will remember hearing about Ezra preaching, the people dealing with their sins and Nehemiah telling them to look forward and not back. This week, we find the people in a spirit of confession. After reading the above Scripture, what do you notice about their attitudes at the time of confession? 2) A huge part of our relationship with God is celebrating Him and worshipping Him. What is involved in worship and where do we as individuals fall short? 3) Being made to worship, we will all worship something or someone. What is it in our lives that keeps us from being transfixed on God? If we recognize that no one or nothing is as powerful as God, why can we not surrender ourselves to him? 4) We were shown examples of how we can worship including different hand motions, what they can symbolize like surrender or acceptance as well as simple praise. How do you worship God? Is it a raucous worship or a quieter way? It is full of joy or humbleness? Or is it like the sack-cloth and ashes can be, a ritual meaning little? Is there only one acceptable way to worship God? 5) Confess is a difficult thing for most of us. If we confess our sins good things happen, if our sins are really grieved in our hearts and confession is not a ritual. How do we Get Real With God in order to Get Right With God? NEXT STEPS / CHALLENGE How is it with your soul? Have you ever asked anyone that question? Ask yourself now, how is it with your soul? So, where do you go from here? Have you wiped the contamination of sin from your soul? Have you begun building that relationship with the Father that we were meant to have? This week, seek Him with intent. Find Him at work or school, at home, wherever you are. Speak to Him as if He were sitting across the breakfast table from you. He is your friend, your advocate, the love of your life. Treat Him with the relationship He deserves from you.
