Our celebration of Holy Week begins this Sunday with
the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In holding
palm branches, we honor Christ our King and cry out
with the people of Jerusalem: “Blessed is the King who comes in the
name of the Lord.” In the Gospel of this Sunday’s Mass we hear St.
Luke’s version of the Passion and Death of Jesus. In his presentation, Luke emphasizes healing (Jesus heals the ear of the High
Priest’s servant in the Garden); forgiveness from the Cross (“Father,
forgive them, they know not what they do”); and total trust in God
(the last words of Jesus are: “Father, into your hands I commend my
spirit”). Such is the great love of Christ for his heavenly Father and
for all of us. Let us walk with Jesus during these days of Holy Week
as he moves towards the Cross on Calvary and resurrection at Easter.
His love for us is great, amazing, wondrous.
Nuestra celebración de la Semana Santa comienza este
Domingo con la entrada triunfal de Jesús en Jerusalén:
“Bendito el Rey que viene en el nombre del Señor”.
En el Evangelio de la Misa de este Domingo escuchamos la version de la Pasión y Muerte de Jesús .según San
Lucas. En su presentación , el evangelista enfatiza la sanación (
Jesús sana el oído del sirviente del Sumo Sacerdote en el
Huerto); perdona desde la cruz ( Padre, perdónales, porque no
saben lo que hacen); y confianza total en Dios ( las últimas
palabras de Jesús son: “ Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi
espíritu”). Tal es el amor de Cristo por su Padre Celestial y por
nosotros. Caminemos con Jesús durante estos días de la Semana
Santa, mientras camina hacia la cruz en el Calvario y su Resurrección en la Pascua. Su amor por nosotros es muy inmenso,
asombroso y maravillosos

The solemn blessing of palms will take place in front of Church
before the 5:30 PM Saturday Vigil Mass. At other Masses this
week-end, palms will be distributed as you enter Church and
will be blessed during Mass. These are blessed palms – not toys
for the children to play with.
The full schedule of Holy Week and Easter services will be
found elsewhere in today’s bulletin.
This Palm Sunday the 2:30 PM Spanish Mass is changed to 3:00
PM (only this Sunday) because of overcrowding and traffic
problems on Palm Sunday last year.
On Palm Sunday and on Easter Sunday the Church parking lot
will be closed once it is full and the Church will be closed once
it is filled to capacity at any Mass on Palm Sunday or Easter
Sunday.
We encourage you to come to the Lenten Penance Service at
Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster on Tuesday evening or here
at St. Mary’s on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM. There will be
many priests available to help with the communal celebration of
prayer, Scripture, confession of sin and experience of God’s
forgiveness in the Sacrament of Penance.
There will be no 5:30 PM Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday, April
7th. The Easter Vigil Service and Mass will be at 7:30 PM and
will last about two and a
half hours, followed by a
reception in the Parish
Hall to welcome those
baptized and received into
the Church at the Vigil
Service. All are invited to
the Easter Vigil Service on
the holiest night in the
Church year and to the
reception afterwards.
You are invited to bring
bells from home to ring at
the “Gloria” of the Easter
Vigil Mass.

La bendicicón solemne de las palmas tendrá lugar enfrente
de la Iglesia antes de la Misa de 5:30 PM, en la Misa de la
Vigilia el sábado. En las otras Misas de este fin de semana,
las palmas se repartirán en la entrada de la Iglesia y se bedecirán durante la Misa. Estas son palmas benditas, no

Este Domingo de Ramos la Misa de 2:30 de la terde se ha
cambiado par alas 3:00 de la tarde ( sólo este Domingo)
debido a la gran multitud que asiste ese día y para evitar
problemas de tráfico que ocurrieron el año pasado, en este
día.
El Domingo de Ramos y el Domingo de Pascua la Iglesia y
el estacionamiento se cerrarán una vez que estén llenos a su
maxima capacidad, en todas las Misas del Domingo de
Ramos y el Domingo siguiente, Domingo de Pascua.
Les pedimos que asistan a uno de los Servicios Penitenciales de Cuaresma, ya sea en la Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón
en Lancaster, el martes a las 7:30 PM o aquí en Santa
María, el miércoles a las 7:30 PM. Habrá muchos Sacerdotes para ayudar con el Servicio de oración, lectura y reflexión de la Sagrada Escritura, y luego

NEWS ON A PARISH HALL
A delay has taken place in plan for the construction
of the new Parish Hall, meeting rooms and parish
offices. The Archdiocese of Los Angels is not prepared to sign the contract for the construction until
sure that our parish can meet the monthly payments
on the loan for the new Church, parking lot and
landscaping ($9million has been borrowed for this
construction) and a new loan for the new Parish
Hall and other buildings ($3 million more is
needed). The only way to move forward is to show
that the parishioners who have made pledges in the
two Capital Campaigns (in 2003 & 2005) are faithfully and generously fulfilling their pledges. Your
sacrifice now in fulfilling your pledge is all important. Many thanks to all who have given and continue to give generously to our Capital Campaign,
“A Time to Build”.

NOTICIAS DEL SALON PARROQUIAL
Hay un retraso en los planes de construcción del
nuevo Salón Parroquial, salones para juntas y oficinas
parroquiales. La Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles no
firmará el contrato hasta constatar que nuestra Parroquia pueda hacer los pagos mensuales completos del
primer préstamo el cual se usó para la construcción de
la Iglesia nueva, el estacionamiento y las areas de jardineria que fue de $ 9 milliones y el que necesitamos
para continuar, que es de $ 3 milliones.
La unica manera de seguir adelante es demostrar que
los que hicieran su promesa a la Campaña Capital (en
el 2003 - 2005) la cumplan haciendo sus pagos generosamente. El sacrificio de cumplir su compromiso
es sumamente importante en este momento para continuar con nuestra obra. Muchas gracias a todos los
que han dado y continuan generosamente cumpliendo
su promesa a nuestra Campaña.

A CRY FOR HELP!
In the land where Our Lord Jesus Christ chose to be
born, where the ultimate loving sacrifice was made by
his dying on the cross, and where his glorious resurrection took place...a desperate cry for help can be
heard. For many centuries, the Franciscan Custody
of the Holy Land and the Equestrian Order of the
Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem have been charged with
the protection of Christians and the care of our holy
shrines, including the Tomb of Christ. On Good Friday, a special collection is taken up worldwide for
this very important cause. Please be very generous
this Good Friday, as the needs are especially great due
to the unrest in the land of Our Lord. May Our Lady
of Palestine bless and embrace you!

Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION HOLY WEEK & EASTER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Next week we will be celebrating the biggest event in our Church year: the Paschal mystery. It begins on Holy
Thursday and concludes on Resurrection Sunday. We invite all R.E. parents and families to participate fully
in our Holy Week and Easter Services. This is a great moment to appreciate the richness of our Church as we
remember, celebrate, and believe that our Lord Jesus suffered, died, and rose for our Salvation. We wish you a
blessed and wonderful Easter!
1. Holy Week and Easter Vacation: There is no scheduled classes for the weeks of April 2 and 9, 2007. Please
do not bring your children. Classes will resume the week of April 16, 2007.
2. If your child is scheduled to receive First Communion this year and you are planning his/her First Communion in
a different Parish or in another country, please come to the R.E. Office to make sure that proper paper work has
been prepared for you.
3. All Children making First Communion before classes end need to continue coming until the week of May 7th,
2007.
4. REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS FOR THE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR WILL BE DURING
THE MONTH OF MAY. FURTHER IMFORMATION WILL BE SENT HOME AFTER EASTER BREAK.
5. It is very important that all overdue fees be paid by April 12th 2007 (before First Communions and new Registrations).
6. Dear Parents we will be having a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on April 23, 24, and 25, 2007.
The dinner will include: Spaghetti, salad, bread and drink. In order, for this fundraiser to be a
success we are asking for your help and support. This is a good opportunity for all parents that
have not completed their service hours to donate: spaghetti pasta, spaghetti sauce, bread,
salad, dressings, powder lemonade, cups, forks, bake goods, etc.

School Registration for Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Applications are still available for the 2007/2008 school year.
There is a $15.00 application fee at the time you pick up your
application. When applying for St. Mary’s Kindergarten program, children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2007 and
are encouraged to be 5 years of age by September 1, 2007.
You may pick up the application between the hours of 8:30
