K-9 Presentation Enjoyed
Last week, KES fourth- and fifth-grade students were
treated to a presentation by Porter County Sheriff
Sergeant Edwards and his K-9 partner, Joker.
Sgt.
Edwards informed students of Joker’s abilities tracking
missing
children,
locating
drugs,
and
apprehending
criminals because of his acute sense of smell and rigorous
training.
During the demonstration, Joker was able to
locate a hidden cache of marijuana in the bleachers. In
addition to discussing the dangers of illegal drugs and the
benefits of committing to a drug-free life, Sgt. Edwards

Continued Home-School Communication
Is Important
Although this year’s Parent-Teacher conferences will
wrap up this evening, for KES students to realize their
greatest possible achievement, it’s vitally important that
the home-school connection remain strong. An easy way
for this to continue is through consistent use of Skyward
to access homework assignments and student grades.
Elementary Echoes continues on the next page, including KES Scholars.
