Christmas Novena 2014
(December 16th-24th)
Father, at Christmas, You fill our hearts with
joy as we recognize in Christ the revelation of
Your love. No eye can see His glory as our God,
yet now, He is seen as one like us. Christ is
Your Son before all ages, yet now, He is born in
time. He has come to lift up all things to Himself, to restore unity to creation and to lead
mankind from exile into Your heavenly kingdom. In honor of the birth of Jesus, grant
what we ask if it be Your Holy will.
Amen.
Do You have a new mailing address, phone
number, or email address? If yes, please take a
moment to call the parish office (353-9404) with
your new information. This helps us to keep
your information current so that we can be of
better service to you. Thank you.
Dear Friends of Holy Spirit,
Last weekend, Deacon Mike spoke about the value of
the Sacrament of Confession. Although our Penance
Service is already over, Little Flower will be having one
on Monday, December 15th at 7 PM. I will be helping out
as one of the confessors. Please consider joining me at
Little Flower for this sacrament.
Advent is a season of waiting. We wait for the Lord
to come at the end of all time; we wait for the Lord to
come (again) at Christmas; we want for answers to our
prayers; we wait for loved ones to make it home for the
holidays. Waiting involves looking into the future with
hope. This hope is based upon our belief that God is
good and his Love is always being given to us.
As a priest, I often see the deep struggles that people
experience in life, when hope is difficult. Yet, I also have
the chance to see the generous spirit in people who
reach out to those in need, wanting no recognition. For
example, we have asked people to step forward to sponsor families for Christmas, and many have. It is this
kind and generous spirit that creates the true beauty of
this Season, for God, seeing our struggles, was so kind
and generous in giving us his Son, so that we might
have life eternal.
In each of us there is something we struggle with. In
each of us there is the desire to help another person
with kindness and generosity. Sometimes these two
sides of the human experience (struggle and generosity)
come together when we allow our struggle to become a
source of understanding to help another person. I see
this happen when a tragedy hits a family, but rather than
becoming bitter, the family chooses to reach out to
others who might experience the same tragedy.
This is what Christmas is about: facing our struggles
and helping each other through them. Isn’t that why
Christ came to us?
God’s Love and Blessing,
Please pray for the
recently deceased:

Navidad y Sus Tradiciones: El Nacimiento

Ayúdales a
