MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND
Call the parish office to make arrangements to administer this
sacrament for one who is sick or homebound or in the hospital.
The Parish Priests visit the sick & homebound and administer
the Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the
sacrament of the sick on the First Friday of the month.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound on weekends.
MARRIAGE
MATRIMONIO
Call the parish office and make an appointment with one of the
parish priests for the required preparations and to set the wedding date. Ordinarily preparations will take at least six months.
QUINCEAÑERAS
Call one of the parish priests to make an appointment to set the
quinceañera date. The quinceañera is expected to have received
all three Sacraments of initiation. Baptism, Holy Communion
and Confirmation. The family is expected to be registered and
worship in the parish. Preparations will take at least six months.

THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH
FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR:
The Holy Scriptures today seek to teach
behaviors that manifest tenderness, concern, self-giving, sincerity, patience, forgiveness, mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, responsibility and generosity. The first two readings
counsel us into cultivating good habits in order to live a
virtuous life, grow incrementally holy and faithful.
However, very little is written about the family life of Jesus. Joseph speaks no words, asks no questions, and
gives no sage advice. The New Testament identifies St.
Joseph as a carpenter. St. Matthew presents him as one
attentive to God’s will for him. St. Luke tells us that Mary
sought and followed God’s Will for her. Both of them are
dependent on God’s providence and protection. The
Simple house of Jesus and Mary and Joseph was certainly a household of living, and radiant faith.
Mary and Joseph live out their marriage vows in fidelity to
God’s will. They travel far into Egypt at the angel’s direction; they go to the temple to present Jesus according to
the custom of their ancestors in obedience to the Law of
Moses. They make the long pilgrimage to Jerusalem for
Passover, where they lose and then find the young Jesus
discussing with the learned teachers of the law in the
Temple.
A faith filled family filled with awe and wonder, ponders
at the marvels God has done. The dawning of our salvation has come through Jesus, our God incarnate. This
wondrous Hope of Israel’s salvation fulfilled in Jesus is entrusted to the loving and tender care of Mary and Joseph for our redemption. He is raised in the household of
Joseph and Mary to learn the propensities of human nature and recognize human frailties. He would experience
human vulnerabilities and temptations to disobedience
and sin. However, at the same time, He would be inspired watching Mary’s and Joseph’s commitment to
their vows and fidelity to God.

FIXING GOD’S HOUSE

Please do not forget our commitment to maintain
this legacy with integrity and loving devotion, so
that we can hand it (the Church of All Souls) down with utmost joy and pride to our younger generation.
The ‘on-going Campaign for “FIXING GOD’S HOUSE” on the
repairs and maintenance continues. Thank you for your support and generosity. The next upcoming work is “Fixing the
Exterior Steel doors” of our Church. The estimated cost was
$ 40,000.00.

As of today, we have received a total of $ 500,305.37. As per the
last financial report we spent $ 395,086.07.
ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL OF 2014
Each year our Archbishop requests our help to support
him to operate the central Archdiocesan offices in order
to coordinate and administrate resources for various parishes in the Archdiocese. The cost of this endeavor is
distributed among parishes in our three counties of San
Mateo, San Francisco and Marin. Our share of the cost
this new year is $ 45,500.00.
As of date we have received $ 40,873.40 in cash, checks
& credit cards $ 2,105.00 in the form of pledges amounting to a total of $ 42,978.40 which is 94.46% of our
goal. The Balance we owe is $ 2,521.60.
The Parish Finance Committee has recommended we
take up a second collection on the First Sunday of every
month beginning June 2014, in order to make this goal.
We thank all who have generously contributed in the
past and urge you, to please join in our efforts to help
reach our goal this year.

ANNUAL GODPARENTS-GODCHILDREN MASS
On the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord, Sunday, January 11th,
2014 we will celebrate a special Mass at 9:00 am.
On this day we remember our own personal journey which began
on the day we were baptized. Our parents under the direction of
the Holy Spirit, carefully chose God parents for us.
Those Godparents promised to God and his Church to guide and
inspire us in the ways of faith and morals. They sponsored us to
enter into the life of the Church. We are indeed grateful to them.
Please join us in the celebration of this unique relationship between godparents and their godchildren.
We invite you to contact your godchild and/or godparent and
mark your calendars now. Plan on attending this Mass, which
includes a special blessing for all godparents and godchildren, and
then spend the day or sometime together reflecting on the wonders that God has brought about through this mentoring example
of living our Christ’s calling to holiness.
SPONSORS’ MEETINGS
The Young men and women of our Parish of the Confirmation
Class of 2015 and the First Holy Communion Class of 2015,
may have by now requested some of you to be their sponsors
for the upcoming reception of the sacraments.
Sponsors are chosen to be companions along the way of Faith.
As a companion, a sponsor affirms the awareness and insights
of this Sacrament and Catholic way of living. The Confirmands,
First Holy Communicants, their parents and Sponsors are expected to attend these meetings which will take place in the
Parish Hall at 7pm.

LA SAGRADA FAMILIA DE JESÚS, MARÍA Y JOSÉ
Reflexiones del Párroco:
Las Sagradas Escrituras de hoy pretenden
enseñar comportamientos que manifiestan
ternura, preocupación, entrega, sinceridad,
paciencia, perdón, misericordia, bondad,
humildad, mansedumbre, responsabilidad y generosidad. Las primeras dos lecturas nos aconsejan cultivar
buenos hábitos para vivir una vida virtuosa, crecer incrementalmente sagrado y fiel.
Sin embargo, muy poco está escrito sobre la vida familiar
de Jesús. José no habla palabras, ni hace preguntas y no
da ningún consejo sabio. El Nuevo Testamento identifica
a San José como un carpintero. San Mateo lo presenta
como uno atento a la voluntad de Dios para él. San Lucas nos dice que María buscó y siguió la voluntad de
Dios para ella. Ambos dependen de la Providencia de
Dios y Su protección. La Sencilla casa de Jesús, María y
José fue sin duda un hogar de la fe viviente y radiante.
María y José viven sus votos matrimoniales en fidelidad a
la voluntad de Dios. Viajan lejos a Egipto por la dirección
del ángel; van al templo a presentar a Jesús según la
costumbre de sus antepasados en obediencia a la ley
de Moisés. Hacen el largo peregrinaje a Jerusalén para
la Pascua, donde pierden y luego encuentran al joven
Jesús discutiendo con los maestros de la ley en el Templo.
Una familia llena de fe, asombro y maravilla, medita sobre las maravillas que Dios ha hecho. El albor de nuestra
salvación ha llegado a través de Jesús, nuestro Dios encarnado. Esta maravillosa Esperanza de la salvación de
Israel realizada en Jesús es confiada al cuidado amoroso
y tierno de María y José por nuestra redención. Es criado
en la casa de José y María para aprender las propensiones de la naturaleza humana y reconocer las flaquezas
humanas. Él experimentaría vulnerabilidades humanas y
tentaciones de desobediencia y pecado. Sin embargo,
al mismo tiempo, sería inspirado viendo el compromiso
de María y José con sus votos y fidelidad a Dios.

JUNTA PARA LOS PADRINOS
Los jóvenes de nuestra Parroquia en la clase de Confirmación del 2014 y la clase de Primera Comunión del 2014, ya
deben de haber solicitado a algunos de ustedes que los
apadrines para la próxima recepción de los Sacramentos.
Padrinos son elegidos para ser compañeros por el camino
de la Fe. Como compañero, un padrino afirma la conciencia
y la perspicacia de este Sacramento y manera de vivir Católica.
