Cartersville Police took Brown into custody at a motel Wednesday afternoon. He is accused of murdering Cornelius Driver, Jr., 23, who was found lying in the road in South Rome with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday afternoon. 411 Auto Auction near Kingston. The batteries are worth $650. ♦ TEACHER RESIGNS AFTER ALLEGATIONS Former Cass High English teacher, Chad Wade Clift, 41, Lindale, was booked into the Bartow Jail, Wednesday afternoon and charged with sexual assault. The Bartow Co. Sheriff's Office said on Monday, Campus Police Chief Dan Knowles reported an incident of an inappropriate relationship off campus between Clift and a 17 year old student. It was reported to the Bartow Board of Education and Clift resigned. He was released on a $25,000 special condition bond. ♦ STOLEN TAHOE CRASHES A Chevy Tahoe was stolen from 49 Walnut Trail Wednesday night after the owner, Becky Tang, left her vehicle to warm up in the driveway. Bartow Deputies were called about a vehicle that had crashed into a fence at Brooks Auto Salvage and the suspect walking on Highway 293, south of Emerson, by a witness. The owner said her purse and keys were missing from the vehicle. The suspect is a white male, bearded, medium build and wearing a brown jacket, brown pants and boots. Georgia lawmakers are proposing to scrap the gasoline sales tax and replace it with an excise tax of 29 cents a gallon. Lawmakers want the excise tax to fix the state's aging transportation system. ♦ Someone donated training grenades to a Goodwill Store in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Police were called and separated the fuses from the grenades and safely transported them to the Murfreesboro Police Department. The store has no idea who donated the grenades. ♦ A woman known for feeding bears may have been killed by one of them. Kay Grayson, 67, had been dead for about two weeks when her body was found in the woods. Officials believe the bear dragged her into the woods. She lived alone near Columbia, North Carolina. ♦ NFL Super Bowl XLIX will be held Sunday at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
