I asked Him for sincere love the kind that's meant to stay just like the generous love you give to those you touch each day. I prayed for love from family and from every cherished friend then I asked the Lord to give you his love that knows no end. Last Wednesday we held our School Captain elections. All our candidates prepared and delivered some great speeches and I was very impressed with the quality of all our potential student leaders. Congratulations to Henry Cronk and Zélia Cross who were elected as our male and female captains for 2015. Our School Captains and House Leaders will be officially acknowledged at our Leadership Induction liturgy this Friday at 11 am in our hall. All parents and friends of the school are invited to attend. Tonight is our parent information night for all classes and I know the teachers would love to see you there. I wish them all a safe and enjoyable day. This Friday night is our P&F Welcome Night. This event is always an enjoyable evening and is a great way to meet other parents. The evening starts at 5:30 pm and we hope to see you there! Mr Chris Rosentreter PRINCIPAL Occupational Therapist , Rachel Crooke and Speech Language Pathologist, Megan Venz will be visiting the Prep classes this term to make general observations to identify if any of the children require some ongoing assessments in these areas. Parents will be notified this week if their children are to receive some extra academic support this term through learning support intervention. Intervention can take place by small group withdrawal or by working in classrooms with the child. The Learning Support teacher also works in classes assisting with reading groups. Will be held this Friday from 5:30pm. Pizza order forms are due into the office by 9am this Thursday, 12 February. Year 5 & 6 students will attend the Canberra trip in September. A deposit of $50 is due this term. Please make payment along with the permission. Year 1 students will attend a production at the USQ on Friday 27 February. The cost of this excursion is $10. Please make payment by Wednesday 25 February along with the permission slip. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or eftpos for your convenience. Prep interviews will be conducted in the next couple of months to finalise 2016 Prep classes. If you have a child or know of someone who has a child ready for Prep next year please call into the office for an enrolment pack. Sacred Heart Primary School Newsletter Pancake Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, 17 February (the day before Ash Wednesday). The upper school students will be selling pikelets to raise funds for the Missions. Please return order forms to the office by this Thursday, 12 February. A family information report will be sent home this week. Please update any information required, sign and return to the office. To ensure you receive up to date information we require email addresses to be up to date. Expression of interest forms were included in last week’s newsletter for the Child Writes program. If your child is interested in being involved in this program please return the form to the school by Friday, 13 February. The Uniform Shop operates on Mondays and Thursdays from 8.00am to 10.00am. Get your family active and eating well The healthy lifestyle program for families called PEACH™ - Parenting, Eating and Activity for Child Health – is taking registrations now for a group to start in Toowoomba in term 2. The FREE program is available to families with a child aged between 511 years who is above a healthy weight their age. The program is fun for kids and helps parents and carers make healthy eating and activity a part of every-day life. It consists of 10 group sessions that run for 90 minutes each. The first 9 sessions are held weekly within the school term. Ongoing individualised family support is offered through the second half of the program ending with one final group session. Some of the topics covered include nutrition skills, relationships with food and eating, changing family lifestyle behaviours and making healthy eating affordable. While the parent sessions are taking place, children enjoy active play with a trained child physical activity facilitator. The program is funded by the Queensland government and being delivered by the Queensland University of Technology. The format will be as in previous years – leaving Picnic Point and finishing at Lake Annand with the 10km heading off at 7am followed by the 4km at 7.30am. The school group will participate in the 4km but we are still able to accept your entry in the 10km. Please note, it is your responsibility to supervise your own child on the day. We would love to see as many of our families as possible support this very worthwhile cause. This year the major beneficiaries are the The Leukaemia Foundation, Fresh Hope Association and The Toowoomba Hospice. The entry fee is: $20 family or $10 per participant. The school who registers the most participants in the 2015 Peak2Park, will win a Harvey Norman Electrical voucher!
