As you hear this reading about a leper being cured and
telling everyone about it, what words or phrases strike
you? What in this reading touches your heart?
Look into Your Life
Question for Children: What do you want to ask Jesus
to do for you?
Question for Youth: How has Jesus touched your life?
How are you changed because of that touch?
Question for Adults: Name a time when you experiSource: www.osv.com

Dear Parishioners,
Three days from now we will hear “Remember you
are dust and unto dust you shall return.” or the more contemporary “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” With these
words the Lenten journey begins. I have listed below our
Lent schedule. Please clip this column and save.
Ash Wednesday, February 18th, Masses with distribution of Ashes: 7:00 a.m., 12:10 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.
Fridays of Lent, Feb. 20, 27, Mar. 6, 13, 20, 27:
12:40 p.m. Stations of the Cross; 5:30 Parish Supper; 6:00
p.m. Eucharistic Adoration & Confessions; 7:00 p.m. Stations of the Cross
Confessions: Mon. – Thurs., 11:30 a.m. – 12:00
p.m., Friday 6:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.; Penance Service, Wed.
Mar. 11, 6:30 p.m. until.
Eucharistic Adoration will be celebrated from
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon & 6:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. every Friday of Lent. Those who came early for supper in 2014
would often come over to the Church for some time in quiet
prayer before the Blessed Sacrament prior to Stations.
The Lent suppers were well received in 2014. We
will serve from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Like last year, the
reservation list will be available the Sunday prior to the Friday supper or you may email/call in your reservation by
noon on the Tuesday prior to the supper. Reservations are
required. The cost is a donation in the donation bowl.
Thank you to parish groups who are cooking and hosting
each week.
The Stations of the Cross were well attended. Between the afternoon Stations and the evening ones we averaged approximately 80-90 attendees each Friday.
The items in the bag that you received today are
meant to offer some direction for Lent. Rather than physically giving up something, consider giving up some time to
read the daily passage in the “Magnificat” or read once a
week an article from the “Salt & Light” magazine. The
Catholic Relief Services “Rice Bowl” is an opportunity for
us to engage in the almsgiving dimension of Lent.
Whatever our Lenten practices will be they are
meant to lead us to the renewal of our baptismal promises at
Easter. They are meant to help us to grow deeper in our
relationship with Christ through fasting, prayer and almsgiving.
Also to assist us are the Church’s direction for
“Fasting and Abstinence” during Lent. Fasting is required
of all over the age 18 through the completion of the 59th
year on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting
means not taking any food in between meals, and having
smaller and simpler meals. Abstinence from meat is required of all over the age of 14 on Ash Wednesday, the
Fridays of Lent and Good Friday.
This is a start for us. May we take advantage of
what Lent will offer us as it will unfold before us.
Good Sunday and a pleasant week,
Father Joe Callipare
