19TH ANNUAL BOWMANVILLE STREET SALE

Dear Neighbor,
The Bowmanville Community Organization (BCO) is sponsoring its annual community wide garage/yard sale. All
residents living in the BCO Boundaries (Foster to Bowmanville, and Ravenswood to Western Avenue) are invited to
participate.
To get word out, we will be placing ads in several newspapers and posting signs in local businesses. (The City of
Chicago has passed laws that prohibit the posting of fliers on public property.) To cover the cost of advertising,
we are charging a nominal $15.00 fee for non-BCO members and $10.00 for BCO members and you may join the
BCO at any time to take advantage of the discount.
We have asked Alderman O'Connor for a special PERMIT to cover EVERYONE who will be participating in the
street sale. PLEASE NOTE this permit only authorizes sales under the umbrella of the BCO. The city of Chicago
requires an individual permit for all garage/yard sales. In order to be protected under this BCO sponsored permit
with the city, you must use this application form to obtain our community permit.
Prior to the sale you will receive a kit that includes copies of the yard sale flyer for you to post, safety tips, and a
copy of the approved permit. Maps with the addresses of participating homes will be available the day of sale at
strategic homes. We ask that you help us by distributing copies of the sale flyer in busy places. Good locations
include area businesses, churches / worship halls, laundromats, grocery stores. Also please post the information
about the Street Sale to your social media accounts. Advertising is strategic to a successful sale

comunidad. Invitamos a todos los residentes de la comunidad a participar en este evento.
Este evento será anunciado en varios periódicos y se dejarán folletos en los negocios locales. (La Ciudad de Chicago
prohíbe hacer propaganda en la propiedad pública.) Para cubrir el costo de los anuncios, estamos cobrando $15.00
(a los que no son miembros de BCO) o $10.00 (a los miembros de BCO). Para aprovechar el descuento debe
hacerse un miembro de la BCO.
La Ciudad de Chicago require un permiso para todas las ventas de garaje. Hemos pedido a Alderman O’Connor un
permiso especial que cubrirá todos los participantes de la venta de la BCO. FAVOR DE NOTAR q u e este permiso
solo autorizará las ventas que están conectadas con la BCO. Para ser protegido bajo este permiso, usted debe utilizar
