Lacing Cards
Children love lacing cards. You have the
option of printing up color or b & w cards to
color yourself.
You can print up the color lacing cards, cut
out on the dotted line, laminate, and punch
holes around the card using a hole punch.
Give the children lacing strings, yarn or
shoe laces to lace the cards.
The b & w set can also be used as an
additional craft for the children. Give each
child one of the cards, have them color and
cut out. Have an adult punch holes, and
they can lace using the above options of
string.

Words That Begin With G Book
Print out the following pages to make a "Words That
Start with G" book, an early reader book for young
readers about the letter G.
There are two rectangular book pages on each
printed page. Have the children cut each page in half
along the dotted line. Staple the pages together at
the left of the page, then read the book, color the
pages, and write the words.

Recognizing the Letter “G”
Introduce the letter “G” to the children by
showing them the written word “Goat” and
helping them to see that it begins with a “G”.
Cut a large Goat shape out of paper and write
the letter “G” on it. Have the children tear or cut
out magazine pictures beginning with the letter
“G” and then glue the pictures on the goat
shape.
Another idea is to pick up stickers from a local
scrapbook store that start with the letter G.
Ghost, grapes, grandparents, gorilla, etc., and
have the children place on the goat.

Grape Collage
What You Need:
Contact paper
Green and purple construction or
tissue paper.
Directions:
Cut the contact paper into the shape
of grapes. Let the children place construction
paper on it. Purple paper for the grapes and
green for the leaves.
Cover the grapes with another piece of contact
paper and cut to form a grape collage.

Gingerbread People
Cut gingerbread people shapes out of brown
construction paper or brown paper bags.
Give one to each child.
Have the children decorate their shapes with felt
pieces, buttons, sequins, fabric scraps, etc.
or
Let the children cover their shapes with glue and
sprinkle on glitter.

Making Green
Place small amounts of yellow and blue poster
paint or finger paint inside a ziplock plastic bag.
Put sealing tape over the zip part to prevent
"leaks". Let the children rub the bag between
their hands and discover the "magic color" they
can create.
Let them paint a Green picture.
Gift Wrap
Let the children decorate paper bags to make
gift bags. Or you can decorate plain paper to
make gift paper. Wrap up items that begin with
"g" such as glue sticks, gum, gumdrops, etc.
Golden G
Make the letter "g" on a piece of construction
paper and glue on gold glitter to make a golden
g. Can substitute green.

Grow Grass
Cut a green sponge in the shape of a G. Wet the
sponge and place in a shallow pan. Add water
as needed to keep the sponge wet, but not
soggy. Let the children sprinkle on the grass
seed and watch the grass sprout and grow.
Growth Chart
Make a growth chart. Measure everyone or have
the children lie down and measure themselves
with yarn, cut and save it to take home.
Compare sizes.
Globe
Show the kids a globe and let them find where
they live.

Recipes & Snacks
Graham Cracker treat
Spread peanut butter on cracker and arrange
marshmallows in the shape of the letter "G" on the
top. Broil for a few minutes until
marshmallows are golden and then arrange raisins
on the top of the melted marshmallow. (Make sure
no child is allergic to peanut butter before you
make this recipe).
Letter G Snacks
green jello cubes, graham crackers, garlic bread,
garbanzo beans, goulash, green beans, greens
grapes, grape juice, grapefruit, grapefruit juice,
Gatorade, granola, green split peas (or pea soup),
gingerbread
Grassy crackers
Mix green food coloring into cream cheese, or
peanut butter to spread on crackers or rice cakes
to look like grass.

Groundhog Puppets
Let the children use felt-tip markers to draw
groundhog faces on the top halves of tongue
depressors.
Give them each a small paper cup with a slit in the
bottom.
Have them push the bottoms of their tongue
depressor through the slits in their cups.
Show them how to move their sticks up and down
to make their groundhogs appear and disappear.
