o WHAT TO BRING
- Warm clothing for cool evenings, rain clothes, sun screen, shampoo, hats, and insect repellent!!
- Towels and soap. If you forget, you will be able to purchase towels and soap from the camp for a small fee.
Bedding is provided.
- Swimsuits, baseball gloves & bats, flashlights, and cameras.
- Yiddish songbooks, Yiddish dictionaries, and Yiddish films for late evening showings.
- If you have a child, bring toys, books, high chairs, booster seats, playpens, etc.
- Costumes for our Purim party!
o ARRIVAL
By Car:
Try to arrive between 5 PM and 6PM.
Refer to the sheet found in this packet titled CAR DIRECTIONS.
ּBy Train:
The nearest train station is the Wassiac station on the Harlem Line of the Metro-North Railroad which comes from
Grand Central Station, NYC. Please let us know if you are coming by train.
Please arrange for someone to pick you up from the station.
o UPON ARRIVAL
Dinner is served between 6PM and 7:15 PM.
o SHABES SERVICES
We hold both Egalitarian and Orthodox minyans.
Both minyan leaders seek volunteers to read Torah portions, to lead Shakhris, Mussaf, etc. Preparation is required.
Please email us at [email protected] and tell us in which minyan you’d like to participate.
o DEPARTURE
YV will end on Monday, August 31st at 9:30 AM. The bus will arrive right outside of Penn Station at around 12:30 PM.
NOTE: WE ARE NO LONGER MEETING OUTSIDE THE WORKMAN’S CIRCLE BUILDING.

o Traveling with the Bus
The Bus leaves the morning of Tuesday, August 25th, from outside of Penn Station, on 7th Ave between 31st and 32nd
Street, NYC. Please be there no later than 2:45 PM. The bus is leaving at 3:00 PM.

The bus will return to right outside of Penn Station (7th Ave between 31st and 32nd Street, NYC) around 12:30 PM.
How To Get to the Bus via Penn Station
o CAR DIRECTIONS TO BERKSHIRE HILLS CAMP EMANUEL
From Albany
Take I-90 east (initially south, then east). Get off at exit B2, and
Take Taconic State Pkwy south, to Hillsdale exit.
At exit, take Rte. 23 east to light in Hillsdale at intersection of Rtes. 22 and 23.
Turn right, following Rte. 22 south for 10-15 minutes (approx. 8 miles), to «Copake» sign.
[Note: NOT «West Copake», NOT «Copake Falls»]
On the left there’s a GMC truck dealership. On the right there’s a veterinary hospital.
Turn right, following road into village of Copake, to the memorial clock.
Take Empire Rd. (to the left of JJ’s Pizzeria) 2-3 miles.
After a sweeping right and a sweeping left, look for sign, on right:
«Berkshire Hills Emanuel Camps». Turn right, down dirt road, about 1,000 feet, to dining room.
From New York City
Take *either*
1) the New England Thruway (Rte. 95) to Rte. 287 west to Rte. 684 north, or
2) the Hutchinson River Pkwy north to Rte. 684 north, or
3) the Saw Mill River Pkwy north to Rte. 684 north.
Take 684 north to the end. Ignore earlier signs for Rte. 22 north.
When 684 ends, it becomes Rte. 22 north. Take Rte. 22 north (about 50 miles).
Towns you will pass: Brewster, Pawling, Harlem Valley, Dover Plains, Wassaic, Amenia, Millerton.
Approx. 9 miles north of the Millerton traffic light, near the Mobil station & Johannas Motel
(if still in existence), is a small sign on the left, «Trout Brook Rd.».
Turn left onto «Trout Brook Road», till the end.
Turn left onto Empire Rd. After a sweeping right and a sweeping left, look for sign, on right:
«Berkshire Hills Emanuel Camps». Turn right, down dirt road, around 1,000 feet, to dining room.
** If you miss Trout Brook Rd. exit, continue till «Copake» sign.
[Note: NOT «West Copake», NOT «Copake Falls»]
Make left, following road into village of Copake, to the memorial clock.
Take Empire Rd. (to the left of JJ’s Pizzeria) 2-3 miles.

U PARKING
There are two parking lots at the camp:
1) next to the tennis courts, on the way in, OR
2) beyond the last building, called “Negev”. The camp staff would like you to park your car in one of those two lots
immediately after unpacking your things. They add, please do NOT park your car behind the dining room/office.
