HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when a nurse greeted an elderly
gentleman in his 80's arriving to have stitches removed from his thumb.
He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.
His vital signs were taken and the nurse had him take a seat, knowing it
would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. She
noticed him looking at his watch and decided, since she was not busy with
another patient, she would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well
healed, so she talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to
remove his sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, she asked him if he had another doctor's
appointment that morning. He said no, he needed to go to the nursing
home to eat breakfast with his wife. She inquired as to her health. He
told her she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of
Alzheimer's disease.
As they talked, she asked if his wife would be upset if he was a bit late.
He replied she no longer knew who he was; she had not recognized him in
five years now. She was surprised, and asked him, “And you still go
every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?” He smiled
as he patted her hand and said, “She doesn't know me, but I still know
who she is.”
She had to hold back tears as he left, had goose bumps on her arm, and
thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life.”
True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of
all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. The happiest people don't
necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of
everything they have.
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

USE YOUR TALENTS…WHY NOT?
To recognize our talents requires from us not only to have an introspective
and critical view of ourselves in order to see if we know the gifts, skills,
talents and the graces bestowed by God upon us; but also requires a great
deal of humility and compassion. For those tales talents to be validated
they have to be perceive not only for ourselves, but for others as well.
Talents are part of the external domain and public recognition.
One should not only imagine, say, and repeat again and again, "I'm a good father," "I'm a
good father," "I'm a good father," so this mantra will make by magic make you a good
father apparently, so I and the others can think what a “good father I am”.
It is only when you receive an affirmation from others, that “you're a good father,” when
you really confirm what you thought. That proves that whatever you're doing you are doing
it in the right direction; goodness, kindness and mercy can be perceived and felt...
The talents you have received from God are countless. When you make use of them, all
things go according to God’s plan and will. Everybody in the family works towards
holiness and fulfillment. Talents are shared; the sweetness of home is present: peace and
safety come along. Those who use them wisely will be rewarded.
Talents allow us to enjoy what the Lord has given us, not only for our own benefit, but also
to build up the church and community. When I use the beauty of my talents, when I put
faith onto them, and when I increase them with prayer, my spiritual life feels in glory, I am
able to dispel the darkness and deal with the troubles and worries of daily life. Then the
Lord becomes the center of my life.
Last week, everyone received the report of the works of mercy and pastoral ministry during
the month of October. What a blessing to know that our church is not just waiting for those
arriving at the door, but also wants to go among the people, to make them feel the loving
presence of the Father and the abundance of the joy in the Kingdom of his Son.
My friends with all our talents, and the desire to follow and serve the Lord more and more,
how many things could be achieved. Today I humbly invite you all to make a little effort to
share more of your talents so that you can give and volunteer time at one of our ministries
or social services in our parish and beyond; make an effort to participate in the activities
that help us to grow as individuals, families, communities and as Christians. Spend more
time with your loved ones, and avoid the unnecessary distractions of the world and modern
technology, and finally if the Lord has blessed you even financially, why not sharing in
gratitude some of your gifts with your church? A little increase in your offering will be a
great help in our needs.
Thank you all for your generous response. My prayer to St. Michael, for God's protection to
you and your loved ones.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PARENTS
There will be NO Sacramental Preparation classes on
Tuesday 25 November and Thursday, 27 November
for Thanksgiving. Office will be closed Thursday 27
and Friday 28. PLEASE NOTE all students are
expected to attend mass every week and participate in
the Children´s Liturgy of the Word.

CAMBIAMO LA NOSTRA

Le lettere di San Paolo ai
Tessalonicesi sono fra i suoi primi
scritti, e sono guidate dalla sua
credenza e la credenza dell’intera
comunita’ Cristiana del tempo che il ritorno di
Cristo era imminente, e che era sciocco dedicare
tempo e attenzione a qualunque altra cosa.
Col passar del tempo, questo fervore svani’ un
poco. Oggi noi ci chiediamo, quando sentiamo
queste letture sulla fine del mondo, se dobbiamo
preoccuparcene, se veramente crediamo che
Cristo possa venire su di noi come un “ladro
nella notte” (1 Tessalonicesi 5:2). Vuol dire che
dobbiamo fermarci dal fare piani a lunga durata,
buttar via i calendari e le agende, o fermarci dal
risparmiare per l’universita’ per i nostri figli?
Certamente no. Quello che significa e’ che
dobbiamo cambiare la nostra vita, vivere come
bambini della luce, illuminando il mondo intorno
a noi con la luce del Vangelo. Poi, in quel
giorno, quando i dettagli della vita quotidiana
diventano insignificanti, noi saremo pronti a
trovare la nostra pace e sicurezza in Gesu’
Cristo..

READING OF THE DAY
CHANGE OUR LIVES
The letters of Paul to the Thessalonians
are among his earliest writings, and are
driven by his belief and the belief of
the entire early Christian community that the return
of Christ was imminent, and that devoting time or
attention to anything else was foolish. As time
progressed, this fervor subsided a bit. Today we
may wonder, when we hear these readings about
the coming end-times, if we should take them to
heart, if we really believe that Christ still may
come upon us as a “thief at night” (1 Thessalonians
5:2). Does this mean that we are to stop our longrange goal-setting, get rid of our yearly calendars
and planners, or stop putting money in the college
education fund? Of course not. What it does mean
is that we need to change our lives, living like
children of the light and illuminating the world
around us with the light of the gospel. Then, on that
day, when the details of our daily living become
unimportant, we will be ready to find our peace and
security in Christ Jesus.

Whether it has been just a few

Sacrament of Reconciliation this
Advent Season. The Advent
Penance Service will be held at
Immaculate Conception Church on

number of priests will be available to hear
confessions that evening.
They are happy who fear the Lord, who uses their
gifts and talents in the service of one another,
especially the poor and the needy. They shall be
known as children of the light, and be ready for

USAR NUESTROS TALENTOS, POR QUE NO?
Reconocer nuestros talentos requiere de parte nuestra no solo una señal
introspectiva para mirarnos y comprobar si nos conocemos a nosotros
mismos; sino también exige una gran dosis de humildad y compasión.
Los talentos para evidenciarse deben ser acreditados no sólo por nosotros
mismos, sino que son parte del dominio y reconocimiento externo.
Uno no tendría que imaginar, decir y repetir solamente “yo soy un buen
padre”, “yo soy un buen padre”, “yo soy un buen padre”, a fin de que esta mantra haga
tornar realidad lo que aún no es evidente, para de tal forma que yo y los otros terminen
creyendo lo buen padre que soy.
Cuando usted recibe la afirmación de parte de otros: “que buen padre eres”, ésta no solo
confirma lo que ya tu pensabas, sino que acredita lo que tu estás haciendo; pues de una u
otra forma lo estás haciendo tan bien que se te nota…
Los talentos que tienes y que has recibido de Dios, son innumerables. Cuando tú haces uso
de ellos, todas las cosas te salen a bien, en la familia cada uno corresponde con su propio
role y no solo con lo que ha recibido, sino que por la gracia de Dios, se puede vivir en
armonía, con “PAZ y SEGURIDAD”. Quien usa sus talentos sabiamente, recibe el mejor
de los premios.
Los talentos nos permiten gozar de aquello que el Señor nos ha dado, no solo para nuestro
propio beneficio, sino también para la construcción de la Iglesia y la comunidad. Cuando
yo uso la fuerza de mis talentos, cuando los uno a la fe, y los acreciento con oración, mi
vida espiritual se siente en la gloria, las oscuridades se disipan y las preocupaciones pasan
a un lugar secundario. La seguridad que me da el Señor, pasan a ser el motor de nuestra
vida.
La semana pasada, todos recibieron el informe de las obras de misericordia y de atención
pastoral durante el mes de octubre. Que bendición saber que nuestra Iglesia, no solo está a
la espera de los que lleguen a su puerta, sino también quiere ir allá en medio del pueblo,
para dejar sentir la presencia amorosa del Padre y la abundancia del gozo del Reino del
Hijo.
Hermanos con todos sus talentos y con nuestros deseos de seguir y servir más al Señor,
cuántas cosas podríamos hacer. Hoy quiero de manera humilde invitarles a todos ustedes a
que hagan un pequeño esfuerzo para compartir más sus talentos, para que puedan dar su
tiempo voluntario en uno de los diferentes apostolados y servicios que se piden en la
parroquia y fuera de ella, hagan un esfuerzo para participar en las actividades que los
ayuden a crecer como personas y como familias, dedique más tiempo y calor a sus seres
queridos evitando los excesos de las distracciones del mundo y de la técnica, y por último
si el Señor le ha bendecido económicamente, por qué no compartir parte de ese regalo en
gratitud con tu Iglesia? Un poco más en su ofrenda dominical ayudará bastante en
nuestros proyectos.
Gracias a todos por su respuesta generosa. Mi oración a San Miguel, por la protección de
Dios a usted y a sus seres queridos.

LECTURA DEL DÍA
CAMBIA NUESTRAS VIDAS
Las cartas de Pablo a los tesalonicenses
están entre sus primeros escritos
movidos por su creencia, y la creencia
de la comunidad de la Iglesia joven, de
que el retorno de Cristo era inminente, y que dedicar
tiempo y atención a otras cosas era tontería.
Con el paso del tiempo este fervor disminuyó un
poco. Hoy, cuando escuchamos sobre la llegada del
fin de los tiempos, podemos preguntarnos si la
tenemos que tomar en serio, si es que realmente
creemos que Cristo todavía puede venir por nosotros
como “un ladrón en la noche” (1 Tesalonicenses
5:2). ¿Significa esto que debemos ponerle un paro a
establecer metas a largo plazo, despojarnos de
nuestros calendarios y agendas anuales, dejar de
ahorrar para una educación universitaria? Por
supuesto que no. Lo que significa es que
necesitamos cambiar nuestra vida, vivir como hijos
de la luz e ir iluminando el mundo que nos rodea
con la luz del Evangelio. Entonces, en aquél día,
cuando los detalles de nuestra vida diaria se tornen
poco importantes, estaremos listos para encontrar
nuestra paz y seguridad en Cristo Jesús.

LAS POSADAS: Una vez más
invitamos a nuestros feligreses a

Posadas. Esta tradición recuerda el
viaje de María y José por Belén en
búsqueda de posada antes del nacimiento de Jesús. Serán
9 días recorriendo diferentes hogares. Las familias que

IS GOD CALLING YOU?
Vocational discernment groups meet to assist young
men who are discerning the possibility that God may
be calling them to a life of priestly ministry. These
groups are designed to explore a priestly vocation
with other like-minded men through prayer and
sharing vocation stories and experiences. The group
meetings are not meant to convince anyone that the
priesthood is their vocation. They are designed to
assist you in discovering if the priesthood is your true
vocation and build your relationship with Christ along
the way.
If you are a faithful, single Roman Catholic man,
between the ages of 18 and 40, and are asking
yourself whether God is calling you to be a priest, you
are cordially invited to attend this month’s
discernment on October 26, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM
at St. Gregory the Great Parish, 4620 Nottingham

the priesthood, followed by prayer and concluding

COMO BAILAR EN LA LLUVIA
Fue una mañana ajetreada, por ahí de las 8:30, cuando
una enfermera saludó a un señor en sus 80's que
llegaba para que le sacaran los puntos que le habían
cogido en su pulgar. Él le dijo que tenía prisa porque
tenía una cita a las 9:00 AM ese día.
Se le tomo sus signos esenciales y la enfermera le
pidió que tomara un asiento sabiendo que sería más de
una hora antes de que alguien pudiera verlo. Ella noto
como él miraba su reloj y decidió ya que no estaba
ocupada con otro paciente que ella evaluaría su
herida. Al examinarlo, ya se había curado bien, así
que habló con uno de los médicos, consiguió lo
suministros necesario para quitarle sus suturas y
desagraviar su herida.
Al atenderle su herida ella le pregunto si tenía cita con
otro médico esa mañana. Él le contesto que no que
solo tenía que ir al asilo de ancianos para desayunar
con su esposa.
Ella le pregunto sobre su salud y me dijo que su
esposa había estado en el asilo por un tiempo y que
era víctima de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. Mientras
hablaban, ella le pregunto si su esposa se enojaba si él
llegaba un poco tarde. Él le contestó que ya ni
siquiera sabía quién era, que no lo había reconocido
en los últimos cinco años. La enfermera se sorprendió,
y le preguntó: “¿Y todavía vas todas las mañanas,
aunque ella no sepa quién eres?”
Se sonrió, le acaricio su mano y le dijo, “Ella no me
conoce, pero yo todavía sé quién es ella.” La
enfermera tuvo que contener sus lágrimas al irse el
señor, tenía piel de gallina en el brazo, y pensó: “Esa
es la clase de amor que quiero en mi vida.”
El verdadero amor no es ni físico, ni romántico. El
verdadero amor es el aceptar todo lo que es, lo que ha
sido, lo que será, y lo que nunca será ... Las personas
más felices no necesariamente tienen todo lo mejor,
simplemente hacen lo mejor de todo lo que tienen.
