El Día de los Veteranos se celebró por primera vez como el “Día del
Armisticio” en 1919, cuando el presidente Woodrow Wilson
conmemoró el primer aniversario del armisticio que termino con la
Primera Guerra Mundial, en “la hora 11 del día 11 del mes 11” en
1918.
El presidente Wilson declaró:
“Las reflexiones del Día del Armisticio se llenarán de orgullo solemne
en el heroísmo de aquellos que murieron en servicio del país y con
agradecimiento por la victoria, tanto por que nos ha libertado y por la
oportunidad que se le han dado a América para mostrar su solidaridad
con la paz y la justicia en el consejo de las naciones”.
El Día del Armisticio se convirtió en una fiesta nacional en 1938, y en
1954 el Congreso reemplazó la palabra “armisticio” por “veteranos”.
Oración para los veteranos
Hoy recordamos a todos nuestros veteranos del pasado y del presente.
Pedimos por la sanidad de los que han sido heridos en cuerpo y alma,
heridos de manera visible e invisible. Oramos por aquellos que han
regresado y los que están regresando de Irak y Afganistán, por los que
sirvieron en Vietnam, Corea y la Segunda Guerra Mundial y viven con
sus cuerpos heridos y espíritus traumatizados para recibir tu consuelo y
sanación. Pedimos que aquellos que son incapaces de rezar por si
mismos reciban las bendiciones de nuestras oraciones ofrecidas en sus
nombres. Traigan la paz a aquellos lugares donde nuestros hombres y
mujeres han luchado. Bendigan a los que sirven en funciones no
combatientes. Que su servicio continúe en sus vidas y que ese servicio
sea positivo para todos nosotros.
Danos la visión para ver un mundo en el que todos se cansan con la
guerra y la lucha, y convierte sus espadas en azadones, y sus lanzas en
podaderas. Esto te pedimos en el nombre del Príncipe de la Paz. Amén.

WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST!
Paul points out in the reading that by the grace of God we are God's
building through faith and baptism. As we become part of this building
we recognize that its foundation relies on Christ alone. Our holiness is
not required just because we are who we are, but because in communion
we are His temple, the Body of Christ!
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it
up." When Jesus arose from the dead He began a new order, a new creation in holiness.
The old order of worship in the temple in Jerusalem took on a new dimension when we,
the Church, His new body, manifest His presence. Hence the importance is that we all
feel part of Him, that we all live for Him… no political, social, economic or religious
leader has ever achieved something like He did. Salvation is only accomplished in Him.
Jesus the One who comes to condemn the temple’s merchants, indeed wants to invite
us all to worship in spirit and truth.
The passage from Ezekiel adds to the richness of today's readings. The image of water
speaks for itself. She flows freely giving life to plants and animals, not without passing
first by the temple and giving them a sacred meaning. Is this not the same refreshing
water that each of us comes for every Sunday? When our tired bodies need strength, or
our “blues” are taking over… is this not the place where you want to be? Here you are
in the Lord’s temple, surrounded by his Spirit, you are even being a part of this holy
temple, protected by the God of Host.
To enjoy the dignity of a Christian, we all should feel the same, and maybe this equality
is far from being achieved. Our mission is to work for the Body of Christ, as one
FAMILY.
As a family, we all are interested in everyone. Where there is success we celebrate;
where we find pain we show compassion; where there is doubt we become testimony of
the truth; where there is loneliness we are company. We are building together this house
of God and it requires all our efforts, interest, cooperation, time, dedication and
generosity.
We want to make the material, spiritual and physical temple of God a welcoming place
where holiness and fraternity is felt…but to do so we have to work together.

few suggestions. To donate a frozen turkey or
chicken, we ask you to drop it off at Mount Carmel
Guild, 73 N. Clinton Ave Trenton, NJ 08609,
during the week of November 17, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00
a.m. and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and also on Sunday,
November 23 9:00AM - 2:00PM. PLEASE DO

SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS

There will be NO Sacramental Preparation classes on
Tuesday 25 November and Thursday, 27 November
for Thanksgiving. Office will be closed Thursday 27
and Friday 28. PLEASE NOTE all students are
expected to attend mass every week and participate in
the Children´s Liturgy of the Word.

Se aveste mai pensato che Gesu’ non
aveva il senso dell’umorismo, il
Vangelo di oggi dovrebbe smentire
questa nozione. La storia delle cinque
damigelle d’onore sagge e cinque sciocche e’
veramente spassosissima.
Le circostanze della storia erano sicuramente
familiari agli ascoltatori di Gesu’, come sono--se ci
pensiamo—a noi.
Matrimoni mai, ma mai,
cominciano in tempo. C’e’ sempre qualche ritardo.
Bottoni si staccano all’ultimo momento, Fiori
appassiscono. Macchine piene di ospiti sono ferme
nel traffico. Solisti contraggono laringite. Spose o
sposi o sacerdoti sono in ritardo! Percio’ il solo
ragionevole modo di guardare ad un matrimonio e’
con un senso d’umorismo, di capire che qualcosa
probabilmente non andra’ bene, e, quando succede,
di sorriderne.
Gesu’ racconta questa divertente storia per
incoraggiarci a stare attenti, si; ad essere pronti, si.
Ma non lo dice per farci arcigni e tristi. I pensierosi
tremano, vacillano, perdono di vista il loro posto e il
loro scopo, e s’addormentano. Gli spensierati sanno
che l’inaspettato occorrera’—e’ destinato ad
occorrere—percio’ sono svegli nel loro posto e
pronti al loro scopo quando viene.

celebrated at 9:00AM at SJC. The Parish Office will
be closed on Thursday and the following day Friday
in observance. There will be no 12:15PM mass on

READING OF THE DAY
EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED
If it ever crossed your mind that Jesus
was somewhat lacking in a sense of
humor, today’s Gospel should belie any
such notion. Jesus’ story of the five wise and five
foolish bridesmaids is downright hilarious.
The circumstances of the story were surely familiar
to Jesus’ listeners, just as they are—if we think about
it—to us. Weddings never, never start on time.
There’s always a delay. Buttons pop off at the last
minute. Flowers wilt. Cars full of wedding guests get
caught in traffic. Soloists contract laryngitis. Brides
or grooms or priests show up late! So the only
reasonable way to approach a wedding is with a sense
of humor, to realize that something probably will go
awry, and, when that happens, to smile about it.
Jesus tells this funny story to encourage us to be
watchful, yes; to be ready, yes. But he doesn’t tell it
to make us dour and somber. The heavy-hearted
tremble wavers, lose sight of their place and purpose,
and fall asleep. The lighthearted know that the
unexpected will happen—is bound to happen—so
they are awake in their place and ready in their
purpose when it comes.

The waters flowing from the temple, the dwelling
place of the Lord, bring forth life and growth.

coming of God into your life?
CHILD: What can you do each day to prepare for
Jesus coming into your life?
I saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of
heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her

SOMOS EL CUERPO DE CRISTO!
Pablo señala que por la gracia de Dios somos el edificio de Dios.
Nosotros a través de la fe y el bautismo pasamos a formar parte de esta
edificación si tenemos en claro que la base y el sostén es Cristo. Nuestra
santidad no es requerida solo porque somos quienes somos, sino porque
en comunión, formamos el cuerpo de Cristo!
En el evangelio de Juan Jesús dice: “Destruid este templo y en tres días lo levantaré.”
Jesús al resucitar de entre los muertos inicia un nuevo orden, una nueva creación en la
santidad. El antiguo orden de adoración en el templo en Jerusalén toma una nueva
dimensión cuando nosotros, la “Iglesia”, su nuevo Cuerpo, manifiesta su presencia. De
ahí la importancia que todos nos sintamos parte de Él, que todos vivamos por Él…lo
que ningún líder político, social, económico o religioso ha logrado…solo se logra en Él:
La Salvación. Jesús quien viene a condenar el mercado del templo, quiere que en verdad
seamos adoradores en espíritu y verdad.
El pasaje de Ezequiel se suma a la riqueza de las lecturas de hoy. La imagen del agua
habla por sí sola. Ella fluye abundantemente dando vida a plantas y animales, pasa por
el templo significando así lo sagrado. ¿No es ésta la misma agua que cada uno de
nosotros viene a buscar cada Domingo? Al estar aquí en la Casa del Señor, rodeados por
su Espíritu, siendo todos parte de este templo santo, nos sentimos protegidos por el
Dios de los ejércitos.
Para que todos disfrutemos la dignidad de cristianos, tenemos que sentirnos iguales y
quizá esta igualdad está muy lejos de alcanzarse. Nuestra misión es trabajar para que el
Cuerpo de Cristo, sea también una FAMILIA.
Como familia, todos nos interesamos por todos. Donde hay progreso queremos festejar,
donde hay dolor queremos aliviar, donde hay duda queremos afirmar, donde hay
soledad queremos acompañar. Esta casa de Dios que estamos construyendo juntos,
requiere todos nuestros esfuerzos, interés, colaboración, tiempo, dedicación y
generosidad.
Queremos hacer del templo de Dios físico, espiritual y corporal un lugar de acogida y
verdadera fraternidad, pero hacerlo es tarea de TODOS.

LECTURA DEL DÍA
ESPERAR LO INESPERADO
Si alguna vez se te pasó por la mente que a
Jesús le faltaba un poco del sentido del
humor, el Evangelio de hoy destierra esa
noción. La parábola de Jesús sobre las cinco jóvenes
precavidas y las cinco jóvenes descuidadas es
sumamente chistosa. Las circunstancias de la parábola
sin duda resultaban familiares a los que escuchaban a
Jesús, como lo son para nosotros. Las bodas nunca,
nunca comienzan a la hora. Siempre hay un retraso.
Botones que se caen al último minuto. Flores que se
marchitan. Vehículos llenos de invitados atascados en el
tráfico. Solistas que contraen laringitis. ¡Novias, novios
o sacerdotes que llegan tarde! Así que la única manera
razonable de encarar una boda es con buen sentido del
humor, consciente de que algo va a salir mal, y, cuando
eso suceda, sonreír.
Jesús cuenta esta historia chistosa para alentarnos a que
seamos vigilantes, sí; a estar preparados, sí. Pero no nos
la cuenta para que nos amarguemos y nos
ensombrezcamos. Los apesadumbrados tiemblan,
titubean, pierden de vista su lugar y propósito, y se
quedan dormidos. Los festivos saben que sucederá lo
inesperado –más que seguro así que están despiertos en
su puesto y listos para cumplir su propósito en el acto.

INMACULADA CONCEPCIÓN
DE MARÍA
Fiesta de Precepto
El lunes 8 de diciembre celebramos esta
Solemnidad la fiesta de nuestra patrona
de Inmaculada Concepción. La misa se celebrará a las
12:15PM en ingles y a las 7:00PM en español en la
Iglesia Inmaculada Concepción. Todos son
bienvenidos. La oficina Parroquial estará cerrada
este día.
LAS POSADAS: Una vez más
invitamos a nuestros feligreses a unirse
en la celebración de Las Posadas. Esta
tradición recuerda el viaje de María y
José por Belén en búsqueda de posada
antes del nacimiento de Jesús. Serán 9 días
recorriendo diferentes hogares, los días: 5, 6, 7, 13,
14, 18, 19, 20 y 21 de diciembre. Las familias que
quieran participar de este novenario y recibir en sus
casas las imágenes de la Sagrada Familia, por favor
llamar al 609-695-6089 ext. 102.
Es necesario estar registrado y activos en la
parroquia para participar.
NOVENA A LA VIRGEN DE
GUADALUPE
La parroquia realizará la Novena a la
Virgen de Guadalupe, Del 3 al 11 de
diciembre. Las familias que quieran
participar de este novenario y recibir
en sus casas las imágenes de la Virgen, por favor
coordinar con los miembros del Grupo Guadalupano.

Nos complace verlos en compañía de sus hijos en
cada una de nuestras celebraciones. Somos una
comunidad en crecimiento. Les pedimos que esté
atento a ellos en todo momento; y en caso que lloren o
necesite alimentarlos, para el beneficio de todos
aquellos que participamos en el servicio, y para
mantener nuestro ambiente espiritual, les pedimos que
hagan uso de los vestíbulos a la entrada de las
Iglesias. Por favor, no alimente a sus niños dentro de
la iglesia. No permita que sus niños se paren sobre las
bancas; es muy costoso hacerlas pintar y barnizar..
Además velamos porque los niños comiencen a recibir
formación espiritual a temprana edad: Rece con ellos
en casa, enséñeles a respetar los símbolos sagrados.
Por ultimo recuerde que en la Iglesia no se debe
mascar chicle.

necesitamos de su apoyo para el
pago de las flores y decoraciones para nuestros
templos. Usted encontrará incluido en su paquete de
sobres de colecta, un sobre especial para las flores
de Navidad; utilícelo para hacer su contribución y
durante las misas del 22/23 de noviembre. La lista
de las personas que contribuyeron y sus intenciones,
estará disponible.
LES RECORDAMOS
Para la celebración de sacramentos y demás
servicios parroquiales las familias deben ser
feligreses registrados, con una antigüedad no menor
de seis meses. Muchas gracias por su participación
activa y su valiosa colaboración semanal con la
Iglesia. Dios les bendiga.
CORRESPONSABILIDAD DE OFRENDA
El total colectado en las misas hispanas el pasado
fin de semana del 1 y 2 de noviembre fue de

Veterans Day was first celebrated as “Armistice
Day” in 1919, when President Woodrow Wilson
commemorated the first anniversary of the
armistice ending World War I, at “the 11th hour of
the 11th day of the 11th month” in 1918. President
Wilson declared: “The reflections of Armistice
Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism
of those who died in the country’s service and with
gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing
from which it has freed us and because of the
opportunity it has given America to show her
sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of
the nations.”
Prayer for Veterans
Today we remember all of our veterans past and
present. We ask for the healing of those who have
been wounded in body and soul, wounds both
visible and invisible. We pray for those who have
returned and those who are returning from Iraq and
Afghanistan, for those who served in Vietnam,
Korea and World War II and live with injured
bodies and traumatized spirits to receive your
solace and healing. We ask that those who are
unable to pray for themselves will receive the
blessings of our prayers offered on their behalf.
Bring peace to those places where our women and
men have fought. Bless those who served in noncombatant roles. May their service continue in their
lives and may that service be positive for all of us.
Give us the vision to see a world in which all grow
weary with war and fighting, and turn their swords
into plowshares and their spears into pruning
hooks. These things we ask in the name of the
Prince of Peace.
Amen.
