CITY OF GARY TO HOST THREE WALK TEAMS
The City of Gary is hosting team for three different local walks – Brothers’ Keeper (May 17), Lupus Foundation (May 17) and
Sojourner Truth House (June 14). Residents who are interested in joining any of these teams should contact Chelsea

SUMMER CAMPS TO BE HOSTED BY YSB AND GARY PARKS DEPT.
The Youth Services Bureau and Parks sponsored summer camps begin June 16th and end August 1st. An all-boys
camp (Raise the BAR) will be held at Brunswick Park, the GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) camp will take place at Reed Park
and Summer Jam camps will take place at Glen Ryan, Cafe 839, and Ironwood Park. All camps will feature breakfast
provided by the Foodbank of NWI and lunch provided by the YSB and Parks. Summer feeding and activities will also take
place at Pachter Park, Borman Square Park, Buffington Park and Tolleston. For more information contact Cecelia Garmon or

LIFEGUARDS NEEDED THIS SUMMER FOR PARKS DEPARTMENT
The Gary Parks Department is hiring lifeguards for the summer. Those who are interested in applying should call Lori

GENERAL SERVICES ANNOUNCES TREE REMOVAL PLAN
Warm temperatures are finally here, and the City of Gary General Services Department has begun tree removal. General
Services is only responsible for trees located between the Sidewalk and curb and trees that are located on city-owned lots.
Tree removal occurs when trees are dead, dying, diseased or hazardous that poses a threat to property.
Tree removal will take place from May through September. Mondays and Tuesdays will be designated for tree removal or
trimming. To report a hazardous tree, please call 881-1311 or report it online at gary.in.us.

Gary residents interested in obtaining free mulch may retrieve it from D&R at 7015 W. 5 Avenue. You must bring your own
bags to obtain the mulch.
