Un Mensaje De Nuestro Pastor,
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR,
FATHER STEVE

Stories of great sin, great repentance, great love and great
forgiveness are found in today’s Scripture Readings. King
David, the ideal king in the Bible, was also a great sinner as we hear in the
First Reading today. A great sinner appears in the Gospel also and, out of
great love and faith, bathes the feet of Jesus in her tears. In the Second
Reading we meet another sinner, Paul, who persecuted the First Christians.
King David, Paul, and the woman in the Gospel experienced God’s unconditional forgiveness. We too are called to be open to God’s loving forgiveness. Like the woman in the Gospel, let us admit we are sinners and turn to
Jesus and each other with great love and openness (not judging or condemning others). Faith and love are the keys, as we hear in the words of
Jesus today: “I tell you, her many sins are forgiven because she has shown
great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little…Your faith has
saved you, go in peace.”

En las Lecturas de las Sagradas Escrituras de hoy encon
tramos la historia de un gran pecado, y un gran arrepen
timiento, un gran amor y un gran perdón. El rey David, el rey ideal en
la Biblia, fue también un gran como lo hemos escuchado hoy. También en el Evangelio aparece una gran pecadora, que con sus lágrimas baña los pies de Jesús. En la Segunda Lectura encontramos a
otro pecador, Pablo, quien perseguía a los primeros Cristianos. El reu
David, Pablo y la mujer pecadora del Evangelio. experimentaron un
perdón incondicional. Nosotros también estamos llamados a abrir
nuestro corazón al perdón amoroso de Dios. Como la mujer en el
Evangelio, admitamos que también nosotoros somo pecadores y
valvámonos a Jesús y a los demás, con grande amor y aperture, ( no
juzgando ni condenando a otros). La fe y el amor son las llaves, como
escuchamos hoy en palabras de Jesús: “ Yo te digo que sus muchos
pecados le han quedado perdonados, porque ha amado mucho.Pero
al que poco se le perdona poco ama…tu fe te ha salvado, vete en
paz”.
On this Father’s Day, we wish all our fathers “A Happy Father’s Day.”
The book of “Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers” has this
prayer for Father’s Day: “God our Father, in your wisdom and love you
made all things. Bless our father. Let the example of his faith and love •
shine forth. Grant that we, his family, may honor him always with a
spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Clergy Changes: The Archdiocese has informed us that Father Christopher Bazyouros has been assigned as Associate Pastor at St. Mary’s,
beginning on July 1st. Father Chris has been serving as Associate
Pastor at St. Joseph’s Parish in Hawthorne since his ordination to the
priesthood four years ago. As already announced, Father Dennis No•
bleza will retire on June 30th for health reasons.
Our parish has been blessed with the ministry of Father Dennis since
November, 2001. We pray God’s blessings on Father Dennis in his
retirement, especially the blessing of good health, and hope he returns •
often to St. Mary’s for parish celebrations.
Scripture Readings for next Sunday (the Feast of the Nativity of John
the Baptist) will be: Isaiah 49:1-6; Acts 13:22-26; Luke 1:57-66, 80

NOTES ON A NEW PARISH HALL
Preparations for the construction of the new Parish Hall, meeting rooms and Parish Offices are now being completed. The
land has been graded and prepared for the foundations of the
new buildings. City of Palmdale building permits are now
complete. We hope that the construction work will be completed in March, 2008. The stained glass windows from the
Old Church are now in storage – many will be on display in
the New Hall. In September or October we hope to have a sale
of items from the Old Church (some doors, ceiling fans, lighting fixtures, etc).
The Archdiocese expects our parish to repay the loans for all
the construction – of $13 million. Your faithful and generous
fulfillment of your pledge to the Capital Campaigns of 2003
and 2005 is all important. This is your parish. The parish
must pay its bills and meet its debts. Your generous giving
helps our parish grow and serve the Lord and all people.
EL NUEVO SALON PARRQUIAL
Los preparativos para el nuevo Salón Parroquial, salones de juntas y oficinas parroquiales se han terminado. La tierra ha sido
removida y emparejada y preparada para poner los cimientos de
los nuevos edificios. La Ciudad de Palmdale ha concedido los
permisos para la construcción. Esperamos, si todo marcha bien,
que se termine en marzo del 2008. Las ventanas con imágenes
que había en la Iglesia antigüa se han guardado – muchas de
ellas se usarán en algún lugar en el nuevo Salón Parroquial. En
septiembre u octubre esperamos tener una venta de objetos de la

La Arquidiócesis espera que nuestra Parroquia pague los dos
préstamos para la construcción - $ 13 millones de dólares en
total. El cumplimiento fiel y generoso de su promesa a las Campañas Capitales del 2003 y 2005 es sumamente importante. Esta
es su Parroquia. Tenemos qué pagar todas nuestras deudas y
recibos. Su ayuda generosa permite a nuestra Parroquia a crecer
y servir al Señor y a su Pueblo.

All California Catholic Bishops have designed this Sunday, Feast of
Corpus Christi (of the Body and Blood of Christ) to highlight the necessity for comprehensive national immigration reform. Your prayers
(as part of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops “A Million Prayers Initiative”) and your advocacy for true immigration reform
are important. You are encouraged to call our Senators Dianne Feinstein (at 310-914-7300) and Barbara Boxer (at 213-894-5000) and
ask them to support legislation which would:
• include a legalization program which is workable and supports
family unity, including a realistic and achievable path to citizenship;
• create a new worker program with worker protections, living
wage levels, and a path to citizenship; and preserve family reunification in our immigration system by reducing family backlogs and maintaining all family preference categories

Did You Know? Listen to Your Children; This summer, when
your children are out of school, on different schedules, are
meeting new people and going to new places, make sure that
you talk to them often about their experiences and the people
they’ve met. Listen carefully to your children. If possible, observe and get to know the other children and adults who are part
of your children’s summertime fun. Above all, communicate
your safety concerns to your children. Make sure they know
that they can come to you with any concerns they may have
about the people they interact with. And, if you hear of or observe behaviors that may be inappropriate, make sure to communicate your feelings to people who are in a position to intervene. Communication is key to creating and maintaining a safe
