Coloring Books for Adults
Yes, what you’re seeing is what you think - but no, these people didn’t go crazy from summer
break with the kids, they simply got pulled into the worldwide trend - coloring books for
adults. It may seem childish from the outside, but (those) who get into it treat it very
seriously. It all started a few months ago when a Scottish illustrator published this kind of
book, called The Secret Garden, which surprisingly became a hit, was translated into twenty
two languages and made first place on Amazon’s best sellers list. “Is everyone ready? Good
luck!” A festive coloring marathon was held in Tel Aviv over the weekend, and tens of
coloring enthusiastics came especially from all over Israel. Meet Galit; there are those who
are addicted to the morning coffee or newspaper, she - to the coloring books. For Galit and
many others this isn’t just a trend, this is well beyond pages and colors. “We’re actually going
back to the children’s place, with no worries, without too many thoughts. It certainly brings
[lit. causes] a kind of peacefulness.”
