On Monday, May 11, 2015, I
received a text message on my day off
from one of our staff saying that the
tabernacle has arrived. I was very
excited and didn’t even realize until it
was pointed out to me that this came just
in time for the Ascension feast day of our parish. If
you take a closer look at the new tabernacle we have,
you would notice some cosmetic imperfections. That
is because this is not brand new, and it has its own
history.
We purchased it from a collector in
Pennsylvania who has accumulated items from
churches that closed for over 40 years. The hope of
this collector is to sell these items back at a fraction
of the cost so they can go back to Catholic churches
where they belong. The cosmetic marks of our “new”
tabernacle simply reminds of the rich history and
tradition of our faith. The feast of the Ascension
allows us to look back 2,000 years ago when our Lord
ascended back to the Father 40 days after the
resurrection bearing the marks of His passion. The
wounds in his hands and feet make him intimately
connected to his human nature thus unceasingly gives
us hope that He will forever intercede for us to the
Father. I am honored to celebrate this Feast of the
Ascension with all of you for the first time. Please
continue to pray for me as I do the same for you that
we may grow as a community of faith and continue to
go in peace glorifying the Lord with our lives.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION
Our post confirmation class will be held on Sunday,
May 24th at 11:30am in San Damiano Hall.
The Sacrament of Confirmation certificates will be
handed out at this time.

OPPORTUNITIES ELSEWHERE...

missions, the struggles of the Mission Indian communities, and
see what remains of these beautiful places and the restoration
projects that have been undertaken through private funding and
the State of California.

cruciales para el desarrollo de un niño. Estos 1000 días son nuestra
mejor oportunidad para dar forma a un bebe más sano, y darle un futuro
más próspero a un niño. ¡A todos los niños!

El pasado lunes 11 de mayo recibí
una llamada de uno de los miembros del
personal de la parroquia avisándome que el
nuevo tabernáculo había llegado. ¡Me alegre
muchísimo! Estaba tan contento que nunca se
me ocurrió pensar, hasta que alguien me lo comento, que
este había llegado justo a tiempo para celebrar la fiesta de
la Ascensión, la fiesta de nuestra parroquia. Si se fijan
detalladamente en este nuevo tabernáculo notaran que
tiene algunas imperfecciones cosméticas. La razón es, que
este tabernáculo no es nuevo y tiene su propia historia. Lo
compramos en Pensilvania a un coleccionista que ha
acumulado, por el transcurso de 40 años, artículos de
iglesias que han sido cerradas. Al vender estas piezas el
coleccionista dona una parte del costo de estas a la
iglesia.
Las imperfecciones de nuestro “nuevo”
tabernáculo simplemente nos hacen recordar la rica
historia y tradición de nuestra fe. La fiesta de la
Ascensión nos permite mirar 2,000 años atrás cuando
nuestro Señor Jesucristo ascendió a la gloria para estar
de nuevo junto con nuestro Padre después de haber
pasado 40 días desde su resurrección, regresando así con
las marcas en su cuerpo dejadas por el sufrimiento que
paso durante Su pasión. Las marcas en sus manos y pies
lo hacen conectase inmediatamente a su lado humano,
dándonos así la esperanza constante de que El siempre
intercederá por nosotros ante nuestro Padre Dios.
Me siento honrado al celebrar con todos ustedes
por vez primera la Fiesta de la Ascensión. Por favor les
pido que sigan orando por mí y tengan por seguro que
hare lo mismo por ustedes para que continuemos
creciendo juntos en una misma comunidad de fe y sigamos
viviendo en Paz glorificando al Señor en todos los actos
diarios de nuestra vida.

REGISTRACIONES PRIMERA
COMUNION 2016
Empezaremos a tomas registraciones para niños/as
que quieran hacer su Primera Comunión en mayo
del 2016.
BODAS EN GRUPO
Invitamos a las parejas que no han recibido el
Sacramento del Matrimonio a participar en la
próxima fecha que será el 31 de octubre del 2015.
Los requisitos son los siguientes:
Actas de nacimiento, Fe de Bautizo, que sean recientes y si
ya están casados por el civil necesitamos el acta de
matrimonio, preparación matrimonial. Para más
información llame a la parroquia con la Señora María Solís
de lunes a jueves de 9 am a 2pm.
Estaremos tomando las registraciones empezando el
domingo 31 de mayo en el salón de San Francisco
después de la Misa de las 12:30pm.
Cuando venga a registrarlos se les pide que
traigan su Acta de Nacimiento y Fe de Bautizo.
El costo antes del 30 de junio es de:
$75.00 por cada niño.
Después del 1ero de julio el costo subirá a
$100.00.
También puede venir a registrarlos durante las horas
de oficina recuerde que los viernes está cerrado.
VIGILIA DE PENTECOSTÉS
El Grupo de Renovación Carismática de la iglesia de la
Ascensión los invita a participar en la Misa del sábado 23,
2015 a las 7:00pm. Después habrá una Preparación de
Vigilia 8:30-8:45pm, Rosario 8:45 – 9:30pm, Descanso
(pan y café) 9:30 – 10:00pm, Animación 10:00 – 10:15pm,
Tema por el Padre Benjamín Tapia 10:15pm – 11:30pm, y
Oración Final 11:30pm – 12:00am.

Para las personas mayores de 18 años que no han recibido los
Sacramentos de Bautizo, Primera Comunión y Confirmación
se les invita a que se registren para que puedan recibir los
Sacramentos. Estaremos tomando registraciones empezando
el domingo 31 de mayo en el salón de San Francisco.
BAUTIZOS
Los próximos bautizos son el día 13 de Junio a las 10:30am. Si
alguien está interesado en bautizar para esa fecha por favor se les
pide que se registren lo más pronto posible. El cupo es limitado.
Cuando vengan a registrarse se les pide traigan la acta de
nacimiento del bebe y recuerde que los padrinos tienen que
estar casados por la iglesia.
Puede venir a registrarlos durante las horas de oficina de lunes a
jueves. Los viernes están cerrados.
